I got lost here not knowing there were so many Gaisano malls, I got off the wrong one and had to walk. No regrets though, The friendly Cebuanos directed me to where I needed to go. I was amazed that a lot know conversational English. Cebu is a great place to visit, so much history, lovely malls and a lot of places for tourists to visit. Will come back again :)
Being the oldest street in the Philippines in a tourist-attractive city, the city govt should invest in making it a prime tourist destination, clean up and beautify its street and buildings, restore its old relics, invite well-known local and international brands to set up shop here, and close it to vehicular traffic to make it a world class walking tour destination for tourists and shoppers alike. Only a mayor with vision and political will can make this happen.
Absolutely. When will things happen, only time can tell. We share the same dream. I came from Cebu and I hope good things will happen before I die. I'm now 72 years old.
@@rantevity true, it’s unfortunate that he didn’t stay put as mayor, he could’ve done a lot more for Manila if he stayed a few more years and not ruined his political career.
Metro Cebu is very diverse. It has old districts and modern districts. On the uphill of Cebu City, you can find a different side also. On the uphill, there are many famous botanical gardens, like Sirao Garden ( which is sometimes called little Netherlands), you can also find there Tops of Cebu where you can see the view of Metro Cebu. The famous La Vie in the Sky is also there where you can eat delicious food and drink one of the best wines in the Metro while watching the view of Metro Cebu. Lapu-Lapu City is the place in Metro Cebu where the luxurious beach resorts is located. It is only 30 minutes from Cebu City. Metro Cebu alone can offer already a complete experience.
Metro Cebu has 12 Universities, viz: 1. UP Cebu 2. University of San Carlos 3. University of San Jose Recoletos 4. University of Cebu 5. University of the VISAYAS 6. Cebu Technological University 7. Cebu Institute of Technology University 8. Cebu Doctors University 9. Cebu Normal University 10. Southwestern University 11. University of Southern Philippines Foundation 12. Indiana Aerospace University The two that were shown in the video are University of the VISAYAS and University of San Jose Recoletos.
Cebu City is the premiere city in Metro Cebu. Metro Cebu is composed of 13 LGUs ( 7 cities and 6 municipalities). 3 out of the 7 cities in Metro Cebu are Highly Urbanized Cities, namely: Cebu City, Mandaue City, and Lapu-Lapu City (Tri-cities). Cebu City is currently the 5th richest city in the Philippines; while Mandaue City is the 6th richest city in the Philippines.
Oh wow, the bustling Colon St. in Cebu... I missed the old days when I was in College. Tambay sa Metro Colon, maglakad-lakad sa napakaraming tao papuntang Sto.Nino Church... So reminiscing! Thanks for featuring Cebu... Such an enjoyable walk around experience with you... Take care! Watching from Dubai. Amping!
Cebu City's old downtown area is really very crowded even much more before the lockdown. Metro Cebu is the second most important place in the Philippines next to Metro Manila. Paki explore nyo rin ang ibang cities in CEBU and their amazing business districts. Ingat po lage and more power to your channel.
Tha area near the Ruins and Sto Niño Chapel is under rehabilitation and is part of Carbon Market Rehabilitation and Modernization Project in partnership with Megawide Construction Corporation. The budget of such project is 5.5 Billion. Once it is finished, it will turn the Carbon Public Market of Cebu into a world-class market.
Thanks so much for this. Brings a lot of memories. I still get lost in Colon until now though. And I noticed that nothing has changed much. Hopefully the old and ruined buildings would be rehabilatated so that it won't look so unsightly. And all those electrical posts and wires pose a lot of dangers. I think they've become Colon's trademark.
Thanks for the video. After watching @20:50, I just know that SSS is back to their old location. I miss those days na ikuyog ako parents malingaw ko magtan-aw sa mga big carps sa fishpond nga naa underground sa building. Great memories for these streets, stores and other establishments back when I was still a CIT college student until I became a local employee.
There are so many community malls in downtown area such as Metro Gaisano, Gaisano Capital South, Gaisano Main, Super Metro, Elizabeth Mall, Colonnade Mall, 138 mall, Novo Mall, Iconique Centre, Happy Mart, Unitop, Kakeng etc.
Thank you for this video, it brought me back home especially during the lock downs, so desperately longing to come home, so I sit in my bed watching videos like this and pretend I was there. Heals the pang of loneliness, although it pains me to see how much it changed some parts for the worst, the government does not seem to care.
Finally natapos ko rin to. Watched it three parts. Btw, are you a Cebuano? Grabe ang basura noh. Ang mga wiring chaotic. The city should do something about para sa mga tao.
Maski looks old na Ang mga buildings that it needs an facelift pero hanga ako sa laksada malilinis. At least the city of Cebu maintained the cleanliness.
Naa nay starbucks ug pizza hut ang colon. And more cafes and restos are opening in this part of the city. Mas ganahan gyud kos kasaba sa colon kaysa sa modern side sa uptown.
10% lang makikita natin sa Videos ang Whole CEBU City...kasi nasa Caption "Oldest street in the Philippines" .... Not whole Downtown area makikita natin ...Malaki kasi ang Cebu city Alone... How much more kaya sa Metro Cebu...
I miss my hometown; the government official in Cebu they should’ve updated the Colon area. It’s been like that when I left the country it’s outdated. Hopefully they do something new fresh paint for all the old buildings, the walls and all the posts it makes a big difference and it looks better. I’m just saying 🙂
Hopefully! But our local government officials unfortunately are not aware of the need to rehabilitate this very historic place. Too bad! Kadugay na gyud. Di man gud maka daug inig election ang mga tarong. Puol na kaayo ning mga local government officials. Sila ray balik-balik puro way nahimo.

@@jessamaelorenzo3432 that is only a small negative side of Cebu City. No city in the Philippines and even in the entire world is perfect. Cebu City has many beautiful areas than bad areas. Cebu City might rehabilitate this area after the rehabilitation and modernization of Carbon Market. Despite its flaws, for me, Metro Cebu still the best. No city in the Philippines that can offer what Metro Cebu can offer. Metro Cebu is the only is city in the Philippines that can offer lots of things. Simply put, it is not a one dimensional tourist destination.
@@jessamaelorenzo3432 sorry ma'am but I don't agree with you. Metro Cebu has its bad side. But Metro Manila's bad sides are more worst. City of Manila, Malabon, Navotas and Caloocan, Quezon City etc have areas that are worst than Metro Cebu. Metro Cebu is still better for me ma'am. It has botanical gardens and luxurious resort districts that Metro Manila don't have . Moreover, Cebu is the number one choice of foreign tourists. It has more foreign tourists than Metro Manila.
@@jessamaelorenzo3432 Taguig only has BGC outside of that area is dirty. Cebu City is way cleaner outside of that BGC in Taguig. Plus Taguig has no hills that can offer breathtaking views and world-class botanical gardens that Cebu City have.

It's depressing, especially noting how far development in Metro Manila, Baguio, Davao, Iloilo, Dumaguete and all the other major cities in the Philippines have come in the last 20 years, that Cebu City is still living in the 1980s... This is what a place with very bad levels of corruption (even compared with other places in the Philippines) will get you..
@@sitandchill2897 Dumaguete is not among the major cities in the Philippines to begin with. It is only a component city. The downtown area is one of the oldest downtown in the Philippines as Cebu City is the oldest city in the Philippines and it is the go to place of most of the people of Metropolitan Cebu with a population of almost 3.5 million in 2022. Not to mention that some people from Cebu Province and some provinces go to this downtown to buy affordable items. Every city in the Philippines and in the world has its own flaws. Overall, Cebu is still beautiful. It is the most visited by foreign tourists. In fact, Cebu is the number one tourist destination in the Philippines.

The city government should get rid of those sidewalk vendors because it makes the sidewalk so tight and it’s conducive for the snatchers and pickpocketers.
Same as usual Ang downtown erea sa cebu - but sad to say no improvement? Saan ang mga milyon2 pera Galing sa taxes? Millions of taxes are siphoned by the national government - sana nga mag federal form na tayo para sa atin na ang income ng Cebu. Then maybe we can attain progress.
Correct federal government is the answer malaki Ang income Ng Cebu pero konti lang Ang ibinalik Ng imperial manila para sa atin ...Yung mga doesn't matter we still in a development stage, somehow, sometime macorrected din Yan. Wait lang Tayo.
I thought malinis sa Cebu, madumi din pala or depende sa lugar diyan, May nakita akong pile of rubbish sa kalsada, sa spaghetti wire wala ng magagawa , eye sore talaga!
Lots of dirty and ugly (old and new) buildings... this street could be a potential multi-tourist drawer but sad to note that its city govt. cannot impose orderliness and cleanliness on this street... too much eyesores! Sorry.
