Thanks for watching! Like & subscribe. Best audio on 1080 HD setting & headphones. This is an original song I composed on my homemade MIDI handpan that I call Panduino. I just completed the instrument a few days ago. The body is a cigar box and the brain is an Arduino microcontroller that is sending MIDI commands to my computer to play a virtual instrument that sounds like a handpan or pantam. I'm having a blast playing it! 6 months ago I set out to make myself a MIDI handpan, and after working on it on and off during that time it's come a long way. I still have some little adjustments to make to it, but I'm super happy with how much fun it is to play.
I have a lot of hand sensitivity from years of sculpting clay, and my actual handpans hurt my hands a bit to play. This doesn't hurt. Yaaaayyy!
I hope you enjoy the music. Sending wishes for wellness and wellbeing to everyone out there.
Check out some of my other videos. I love playing handpans, tongue drums, and guitar. I also love building instruments of all kinds. Here's a play list: • Music - Handpan, Cigar...
Please subscribe and 'like' (if you do), and please feel free to share. Drop me a comment to say hi.

Wow. I love this so much! It's a great fusion of music and technology... and the perfect instrument to do it with.

@@EvolutionStoneware Yes, I got my first handpan earlier this year. I've got several steel tongue drums but the handpan definitely has a different vibe. Keep up the good work on this synthpans. 🙂

For a quick build I'd recommend this method: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-tKtiBo8aCP8.html and www.sparkfun.com/news/2623 . If you use a good handpan VST you can have a lot of fun!

@@EvolutionStoneware I finally took a lesson from Peter Levitov and it got me motivated again to play. I was stuck for a long time feeling I wasn't improving and taking the lesson really helped me.

Awesome video :). We need to build a DIY handpan as a project. Do you have any recommendations for us? What components did you use and do you have a tutorial for this project?

had you tried using Velostat/Linqstat material?
@EvolutionStoneware
@EvolutionStoneware 2 года назад
Yes I recently made a couple Velostat sensors to experiment with. For situations where vibration isolation is too difficult they work well.
@MariusTheDude

@@EvolutionStoneware do the piezzo pads offer also intensity? eg pressing hard/soft on the pad. because that is why I was thinking of that material
@EvolutionStoneware
@EvolutionStoneware 2 года назад
@@MariusTheDude yes, they sure do. Piezos are commonly used in commercial electronic drum sets.

Im using a virtual instrument. Check out Pan Drums from SonicCouture or Pandrum from Cinematic Instruments. I personally like Pan Drums a little better.

Beautiful. And nice that this reduces finger/hand pain. Any plans to sell Panduino kits?
@EvolutionStoneware
@EvolutionStoneware 2 года назад
Thank you! Once I'm ready to pause my tinkering I hope I can put together a handful to share with other people if there's interest. I don't want to go into production like a big commercial product, though. But now that this has come together I do see where other people could have fun with it too, and it could help some folks with physical limitations or sensitivities.

@@EvolutionStoneware Or maybe sell your plans digitally? You might even be able to set up an affiliate link to some of the arduino-style electronics suppliers - which would benefit interested parties as well as compensate you for the effort you've put in.

@@happyfreeky Good idea. Hopefully I can figure out a good way way to share it soon. I'm still playing with the control layout right now. It's only been done for a week. ☺

Wow thats sooooooo Awesome!!! I've studied/built acoustic Pantams and after seeing your video am now totally interested in building a midi one!!! did you have to solder anything ? or just use the piezo and kit?
@EvolutionStoneware

Thank you! Yes lots of soldering. It took about 8 hours to complete the point to point wiring for this circuit and months of programming. This is all from scratch.

Hi your work is very interesting, I was hoping to build one my self. Are you interested to publish in open-source your arduino code? I just finish build a travel Ukulele and I really want to try a panduino in wood/brass. Thanks for the sharing, you've inspired me ♥

@EvolutionStoneware 2 года назад
Hey Erwan! I'm still ironing out the code, and it's not 'ready for prime time' yet as they say. I do hope to share it at some point (soon I hope) when I have time to do more work and then properly document it out. That's awesome on the uke! Building your own instruments is so much fun, isn't it? Got anything on the workbench at the moment?

Nothing yet on the workbench yet, but i just finish built in fusion360 the shells for my futur wood midi panduino ;) Share when you could the code, i know how time consuming it can be, and i'm here to help you if you need and test the code Many thanks Regards Erwan
