While many cities are dying it looks like PGH is thriving. I grew up here. I can’t say back then it was nice. It wasn’t. It came along way since the 70s. It’s very impressive now. Proud to say I grew up here. I didn’t as a kid😂😂
@@JuanCarlos-xv6uxI have never been to Pittsburgh, but I can see why it would be your favorite. My favorite city in the US currently is New York, but my favorite city in the world is London, England.❤️
Pittsburgh is one of those cities that never is a flashy tourist spot, but look at the cities that HAVE been tourist spots in recent decades (San Francisco, Portland, Seattle, Los Angeles, Denver, etc.). All those cities have gone way downhill recently with homelessness, massive drug encampments, etc. Pittsburgh just sort of flies under the radar as a quality mid-sized city that has just sort of casually improved its downtown over 40 years into a very high quality city that pleasantly surprises almost everyone.
I’ve lived in Detroit my whole life, so I’m not let down by the other cities I visit on vacation. Trust me, Pittsburgh’s not bad, not bad at all. I’m actually thinking about moving there lol.
I lived in Pittsburgh for a year helping a friend rehab a 110 home in Beach view it's about 4 miles south of the city. I would take the trolley in to the city and explore. It's a great city and the people where all friendly. Good times.
@@BenSussmanpro when I was much younger in my 30s (59 now) and walking on Grant Street in downtown Pittsburgh and a guy from Philly came up to me and told me that Pittsburgh is a very clean city. I lived elsewhere (Baltimore & DC) in the 1980s and came back home. The people in Pittsburgh are way more friendly than its stuck up suburbs. Only reason I rarely go to city because I work grocery retail FT and want less people so I go to state parks. I’m in the suburbs because I live in a 100 year old house that my coal miner great grandfather owned.
It's a great city but the culture is different from ATL. So if you don't fit in there you might fit in her but if you wanna bring the ATL culture here. Might not work out for you
From Richmond VA looks like my kind of city any city south of Richmond va sucks i love Northeastern cities never been to Pittsburgh but i will be coming after seeing this video absolutely amazing city ❤
What makes the beauty of Pittsburgh stand out from the rest is not just the beautiful city parks, but also the unique architecture and clean streets everywhere.❤️
I'm from Richmond VA I love Richmond I really do but I'm falling in love with Pittsburgh watching this video it seems like my kind of city how's the cost of living there these videos are drawing me to Pittsburgh is it as nice as it appears?
Pittsburgh really has such a cool vibe..I lived there for 3 years, worked at Kaufmann’s department store downtown. I remember the streets were so full of life, street vendors selling hot pretzels, flowers like a little NYC and the people were SO friendly. I live in Cleveland Ohio now. I really miss Pittsburgh. Visit if you have a chance ♥️
I’m from a Suburb east of Pittsburgh, but my wife has a small Korean restaurant in Shadyside and her business thrives there we have 4 or 5 of the best universities and UPMC best Hospitals in the country. This helps our city And the best Football team Pittsburgh Steelers, this makes Pittsburgh the perfect place a Gem of a city. Thank you Pittsburgh and its diverse communities.❤❤❤❤❤❤ I love it here.
Dont let this fool you, I'm not sure what day and time this is, it looks like a Saturday morning but I've been to Buffalo a few times and Pittsburgh has more traffic
Glad to see Nicholas Coffee is still in business in Market Square. Im a 59 yr old and miss Kaufmann's, Gimbel's and Hornes. I could drive to Pittsburgh easily as im a suburb of city in allegheny county but ill wait until warmer weather gets here. I know all the places you drove around as i commuted for 20 to have a job in this city. So much construction and one way traffic.
I am a proud Point Park University graduate-Class of 1978. I have not been in Pittsburgh since 1987, so a lot has changed! It is so good to see downtown through this video. Thank you for sharing this video!
Me too. Almost the Same story. I was raised there but went to NYU for college. It surely has changed since that time. Remember how bad Liberty ave use to be. Seedy with all kinds of bad vices. The city has grown a great deal since then. I’m still in shock how nice the strip district is. Actual restaurants there.😂😂. It’s really has come along way. He’s huge now. I couldn’t wait to graduate high school to get away but as an adult I wouldn’t mind going back. It’s really nice.
Downtown was my spot to shop and hang out with friends back in the 80's. It had clothing and shoe stores along 5th Ave. Dept stores Hornes, Kaufmann's and Sax Fifth Ave if you could afford them. Lerner's, GC Murphy, Woolworth, Gap, and many more I've forgotten about. I miss those days.
Absolutely loved wandering through downtown Pittsburgh with this video 🌆✨! The 4K quality truly brings the city's vibe to life 🏙🚶♂. @Travelusa78, your guide is top-notch! 🌟🗺 Can't wait for more travels! 🧳🚀 #PittsburghProud 🖤💛
How sad, at one time as U was growing up those sidewalks would be packed with peoole. It was a very busy city. Even lots of traffic. It didn't matter what tie. Now all he stores are gone, most of the eating place. Yo found it on a clean day. From what I'm told it really isn't hat great to go tianmore.
Depends on the time of day. Weekends are much less crowded like this. That said, most mid-sized cities have seen a big drop off in people doing business and therefore pedestrian traffic in the cities has declined. Even Philly is nowhere near as busy and bustling as it used to be. San Fran is essentially a ghost town now too. Most businesses have downsized their city footprint and moved to cheaper, more suburban locations. Why would you miss the congestion and filth that comes with more people and traffic anyway? Should they bring the smog back too?
@@stevenbeall9637 It's just a shame that people can't experience those stores that were. Especially the windows at Christmas. But times do change. Personally I don't go to the city as an older person. but, I have many good memories growing up with the old Pittsburgh. When I was a child the Point had no fountain or anything like it is. Just land and a fort.
Lived here for 32 years. Moved here in 1992 age of 21 haven't left. Great city! Construction going on all over still being remade. Pittsburgh area still has steel too.
Are there any greenspaces downtown besides the two corners you showed? It's so odd seeing a city without vegetation and so much concrete. We're supposed to be moving there. Hoping you can calm my anxiety about that.
Yes...Gateway Center, Point State Park (36 acres)and smaller parks like Mellon Square and Market Square. Outside of Downtown, there are huge parks; Schenley, Frick, Mellon and Highland Parks. Downtown is surrounded by trees on the surrounding hills. They're too steep to build on, e.g. Mt. Washington. Because of this, Pittsburgh has been given the recognition as one of the greenest cities in the country. During the summer months, downtown is loaded with flowers and fountains; more than most cities.
We need 3 more baseball division stadium and teams in Pittsburgh pa & central Williamsport pa suburbs of 3 new clubs to add to the American league division race and national league
I grew up in Pittsburgh 70's & 80's ... Hard to believe how many great jazz musicians came from such a small City totally different from the last I was downtown that's said why does it look like one of those end of the world movies where in the heck is everyone I know the population was bigger in 1980 there then it was in 2020 seems like the seniors are dying off in the yuppies are moving out 😥
Hey, I just wanna let you know that someone is stealing your videos and posting them as their own!! Please put watermarks on your videos! LgoTravel is the name of the YT channel that stole this video and uploaded into parts!! I knew the moment I saw the video, I saw it somewhere else!!!
You’re totally fine , I appreciate you for that, because so many people steal content on RU-vid that’s true, not only on RU-vid, everywhere, my IG content go FB , TikTok, and on other accounts on IG as well, so , pretty sad 😢
Hardly any of the stores in Market Square were there in the 90s. Everything retail/food is different. Overall, a lot less pedestrian traffic and small retail, but a lot less sketchy as well. Kaufmans is a big loss.
@@HusseinDoha It was a large Department store in Pittsburgh founded by the Kaufman family. It was a Pittsburgh landmark and people often met for events under the iconic outdoor clock.
@@marial8235 Alright! Thank you. I’m visiting the US for the second time (first time was in August -all nine days in Las Vegas 👍). Now I’m looking for two weeks in April, in a safe city that’s quite populated. Pittsburgh ticks these box, but I’m afraid of the weather, and I also would love to spend time with American family in their home. I’m paying of course. If you can help me in any way, don’t hesitate! I will also rent a car and just drive aimlessly around the city and visit nearby towns. A big American adventure!🫡
@@marial8235I remember Kaufman’s from my visits in the 1970s. Most of the great department stores in the major cities (many founded by Jewish immigrants) have closed, like Wanamakers in Philly.
