Gandia port was a place of arrival of English coal to supply the prosperous agricultural and textile industries of Alcoy.
The old warehouses were destroyed by a cyclone on December 8, 1906. Two years later the construction of twelve new sheds began, which were operational in 1910 and allowed the storage of around 20,000 boxes of oranges. Later, in the central part of the complex, a 19 meters high clock tower was built.
During the Civil War three of the sheds were destroyed and then rebuilt. Between 1963 and 1964, due to the boom in the export of citrus fruits, five more sheds were built, similar to the existing ones, with the exception of the roof style.
Since 2018, the sheds have been recognized as Local Relevant Assets (or Local Heritage Assets).
The port has a contemporary part which is closed to visitors.
