so please be kind :)
**Update, the photo of the Lime works at Frenchs Avenue, was actually down the road that we show carrying on in that direction we show and then onto the next field. Apparently you can still see the footing for the Kilns. We show in the video Frenchs Avenue. when it's into the next field.**
Thanks to Geoff for helping us update it's location :)

I lived in tilsworth village near standbridge Ford Station from 1947 to 1971, and as children we used to walk from billington maned railway crossing to dunstable, at billington it was open and closed by one man who had a small shed, not many people would know of this.

Hi Geoff. Thanks for your comment. Tilsworth, yes of course. Now you got me thinking.... Will have to have a chat with Andy and see what he knows :) Hopefully we will have the next part on soon. Andy is a busy man....

Another great video. Crunch ( I'll spell it as I think you pronounce it ) was even dug out as far afield as Harpenden.

Hi David. That was quite challenging to do that overhead footage. Glad you like it. Be great to have a drone or something but I don’t think the boss will authorise them funds 🤣👍

I must say that the things in this were well spotted. You might notice them on a walk but would never tie them in with the rail line. Once again a really good video. Thank your friends Andy for allowing you and Gavin to use those photos. My brother in law who is now in his 80’s and used to be a train spotter when he was a boy will love them when I show him the vids. Thanks guys. Look forward to some more. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🤝

Great second part. Interesting how many remnants there are of bygone signal posts etc, still around, even if hidden by foliage

Hello. We talked to you both when you were on this walk, sitting on a bench at the northern end of the Sewell Greenway. Just a comment, the Dunstable Lime Works were situated between the two bridges that you feature close to Sewell Hamlet. If you walk between those bridges below the embankment there are remains of the sidings platform as well as of the base of the kilns. The site at the top of French's Ave was a scrap yard on one side and on the other, there was some form of quarrying that was then used as a landfill site which is next to the recently closed Tidy Tip. Love the videos and look forward the next instalments. Geoff

Thanks Geoff. Thanks for your comment. That really helps us clear up the location of the Lime Works. Andy did say to me where they was but I did not clock it right. I’m kicking myself as we missed the sidings platform and kilns you mentioned. I should have asked you then you could have pointed them out for us at the time. And we could have shown everyone. It was great meeting you and your friend. And really appreciate your information you gave us too. Andy is already preparing his material for the next one. We hope we don’t disappoint. Thanks for watching. And especially your kind comment 👍👍👍👍

@@gepxplore9710 I've been trying to find pictures that I have taken there but to no avail yet. The Forder's Sidings that we spoke about was where the Lime was taken to load onto the Main Line where it became level, as the works were way down the embankment. You can actually see them from above as you walk along. I grew up in French's Ave and love all the history of the area. I thought we may have made your Bloopers when we interrupted filming at Stanbridgeford Station!!

Hi Geoff 😀 the audio was poor at the station the mic was picking up so much wind noise even with the dead cat on it. I had to do some careful dubbing in my garden to give it an outside atmosphere and sound, and re record what was said. so it got scrapped and re taken, otherwise you would have made the cut 😊👍 would have been great to have had you on it. Thanks again, glad you liked the video. There is so much history in that area. Frenchs avenue especially is fascinating 👍👍

I've just re read the Branch Line to Dunstable book and as you rightly say they say there was a siding to a works near Frenchs Ave. My guess is that the quarrying that then became the landfill site was also part of Dunstable Lime Works and, as this was above the level of the cutting, a track would have run to Brewers Hill Road where it would then be level. I would imagine the current road that runs to the old landfill and tidy tip site, and is parallel the railway line, would have originally been the track. I've looked at all available maps though and cant find anything shown. Just another comment that I've heard, the bridge at Sewell that had to be rebuilt when they made the greenway, was partially demolished in order to allow the heavy equipment through when the defunct quarry bed was 'reconditioned' back to arable land.

Thanks Geoff. Appreciate your update. You are right, the maps are not very forthcoming. I think you may have it right. The tidy tip etc quite probably had the track on it. Just a shame I can’t find it on the os maps. Thats a nice nugget about the rebuilt bridge. That would explain why there is also evidence of re-pointing of blue brick on the bridge. They must have had to restore it to some extent after taking the top off to get the equipment out. Good bit of digging there Geoff. Thanks very much 👍👍
