Best time to do this at 4am during the summer. It will be light, there will be few people around and more importantly no cars to mow you down while you have your picture taken.
Thank you so much for this! I worked just around the corner from here in Hall Road 1969 at Lords telephone exchange. Often walked acroos the crossing and never gave it a thought until I saw the album cover. I love The Beatles.
Well it’s not just any crossing. They’re emulating the Beatles’ album. A typical touristy thing to do. Granted, I would wait until traffic eased before hopping on. As a lot of the people were doing.
Who isn’t a Beatles fan! I loved this video. Thanks for the walk and tour. It was fun watching people take pictures on the crossing. Can’t blame the fans. I’m more surprised cars would drive there knowing they’d be constantly stopped!
I used to live 200 meters from that famous zebra crossing; I were crossing it at least twice a day. There were always tourists around; the only time I found it desert was one night around 4am.
Thank you for these great walks. They really help during these times. I can feel myself transported to wherever they are. I hope you are well, stay safe
Watched Walker, my fellow walker of RU-vid, I am always in the mood to witness the successes of your latest video walk in London city, the capital of UK country and place filled with too many glories for the eyes to behold properly.
👍I think I’m more impressed by the beautiful spring rather you had that day then the crosswalk. Must be such a traffic hazard having everyone there all the time. Thanks so much for this look back. Stay safe. - Henry
Sensacional! Abraços fraternos do José aqui do Brasil.
just found your channel while bored in quarantine - thank you so much for uploading these awesome videos!!! i did this exact same walk when i was there in march 2019 and am really missing london
A memorable video for me to come across ,as it`s the first time I have viewed these streets in 74 years ,having used them almost every day during that time in my childhood until about 1951. The starting point outside Maida Vale station. When we still live nearby I would walk daily to my grammar school following this same route up and down the hill, then when we moved to live in Hertfordshire I would commute to school ,using Maida Vale station. St. Mark`s Church was damaged during the War and the top part of the spire blow off . I was christened here . Later ,I joined the Girl`s Life Brigade at the Baptist Church , in Abbey Road. After we left the area I heard that there was an awful accident in the dwelling to the left of the Church ,when the chimney collapsed through the roof ,with fatalities. We lived in a basement flat with a small garden in Alma Square ,which backed on the the huge studio building at the rear of Abbey Road Studios. From a very early age ( a toddler) I would play in the garden hearing classical music ,as rehearsed in the studio while the windows were open .I now realise that I must have been hearing all the best orchestras ,musicians and conductors of the time, which gave me a lifelong love of listening to music of all kinds . I am only sorry that we left before the eras of other great music ,rehearsed and recorded there. The concluding part of the video shows my walk up Grove End Road and past St. John`s Wood station ,which was my earlier route to the primary school in St. John`s Wood .The statue at the junction of Abbey Road and Grove End Road was once the proud boast of my sister ,then aged about 10 .She always maintained that having chewed a bus ticket to sodden mess ,she managed to spit this exactly into one of the eyes of the statue !
I've been here twice before, both times I used the St. John's Wood underground station, but I remember the second time I went there, the station was closed because someone jumped on to the track, so I had to take a bus back to Victoria station
It's a nice part of London, and funny to see the tourists at the crossing. As for the incident at the station, it's awful when that happens, and must be terrible for all involved!
A beautiful walk on a beautiful day. It is exactly a year back and very similar to glorious sunny days we are getting in this dreadful lockdown. Today we hear the social distance will continue for whole of this year. This bitter pill is getting too hard to swallow. Anyway, I digressed. I enjoyed every bit of this walk, quite amused by the tourist activities in the famous crossing. London looked so crisp and cheerful in the sunshine. Thanks for caption at junctions and structures. A great help for me. Take care. Looking forward to more out of your magic carpet bag.
Thanks Pagla, it was a rather lovely spring day, just a shame we're not able to go out and enjoy the lovely weather we're currently having. Thankfully I still have a few more videos in my magic carpet bag! Take care and stay safe.
Foi uma pena não ter mostrado os famosíssimos estúdios Abbey Road por fora, claro. It was a pity you didn't show the famous Abbey Road studios on the outside, of course. Thank you. I see this place ten years ago.
Fantastic video, as always! I await your videos with great fondness, and watch them whilst exercising at home. Question: Do you use any ND filter on the Hero8? If so, what number? In a sunny day setting like this, is it advisable to use a ND filter? I just bought a Hero8, and am trying to figure out the basics on using it outdoors in similar settings as you do. I am not too familiar with the need and use of ND filters, still learning. Could you also please share your Shutter Speed, EV setting, Colour setting and whether PT is on or off, for this video as an example? Will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Thank you! In terms of ND filters, I didn't use one in this video, but I have for others. They can help to stop light objects being burnt out, but at the same time everything is darkened and can look dull. It can take a lot of editing to make the image look "normal" again, and especially hard when it's a video as you may move to different areas of brightness. I'd be more inclined to just lower the exposure (ev comp) and not worry about an ND filter unless it's absolutely necessary.
@@WatchedWalker Thanks a lot for your quick and detailed reply, alacrity appreciated. I too have never really understood the need for ND filters, but it seems common use judging from the number of YT videos talking about it. Your advice is better than their reasoning, and I'm likely to follow it. So in the end, do you color-correct or exposure-correct your videos, like this one for example, before uploading? Or is it just as-is from the camera?
When I was there in 2019 we walked down a street and discovered this amazing Duke of York pub. Wish this walk could have included that area. Not far from Abbey Road.
Это в честь этого храма -кастел назвали улицу Abbey Road???? Спасибо за видео путешествия по местам Битлов! Водители ругаются: Ну сколько можно ходить через дорогу в четвертом?!
All that time spent filming the Abbey Road crossing, and you somehow forgot to actually use it yourself in order to provide a first-person point-of-view ... oops! :)
Glad i dont live near there, an endless stream of sheep loitering and 'playing' on the zebra crossing just cus the beatles did. How original. And the constant doodling and scribling on abbey rd studio walls...easy solution pebble dash the wall and dont paint it, Graffiti problem solved.
