I provincially had no idea Union Station is adjacent to Olvera(and I had that wrong too, I thought it was "Olivera"!). And the Avila Adobe. Such beauty. I am thinking of Los Pobladores and their contribution to us as I am thinking of yours. Thanks ActionKid. 🕊️
I cannot help but notice in the Avila Adobe that their faith was clearly on display - they may not have had modern plumbing - or, God forbid ;>, tech - but they had the best and everything they needed + + +
I used to come to Olvera street everyday almost for good Mexican food and Chinatown is nearby too with great food. It's a great place to be. Thanks Action Kid for your travels.
Great as always Actionkid, as a 6yr old I wandered off from my parents and got lost at that plaza by the big cross, luckily a old Mexican couple found me and asked my name they took me to a Mariachi band and they began to sing my name in a made up song and my parents found me. 🙂
Hi AK! You always manage to find great little places to explore. And this was one of them. I loved seeing this street. I've always loved cactus. This cactus garden is beautiful. Thankyou for another wonderful walk. ❤
Cool walk ,maybe because of covid,it was very quiet there and several of the vendors were closed . Usually the plaza is filled with music, dancers and booths set up all around the circle, and it's usually hard to walk through because of the amount of people. Glad you're in LA showing the city!
One of my most favorite toys, in life, came from this historical site. It's so close to the best french dip sandwich. South Bay Lakers, Miles Simon is my nephew. Tio R.L.F.
not to be nitpicky or anything, but I'm almost certain those masks you saw at 11:50 are luchador wrestling masks rather than day of the dead regalia lol
you gotta get a burrito there on olivera st. never mind the SMOG its just temp inversion smoke ; the local indians always referred to the Los Angeles basin as the "valley of smokes" according to a explorer Pedro Vial....
Action Kid, thanks for this walk through! We hadn’t been here at Olvera St. in years, and your videos make us very excited to visit again! We never saw those historical buildings, very interesting! Thanks AK , we live in So.Cal and haven’t seen as much as you! We are looking forward!
Great live stream, Action Kid. In Los Angeles. Thanks for showing me LA Chinatown wow it has changed since I was there. I really liked Oliva Street been there so many times.
There are several historic buildings in cities in the San Fernando Valley: Old Town Calabasas, Canoga Park, Encino, and Chatsworth. Back at the beach - you will find the Will Rodger’s State Park in Pacific Palisades to be an impressive experience.
Nice! The LA Natural History Museum also has an exhibit on early Los Angeles! I think our next visit will be to Exposition Park and a stop at Olvera St. for lunche! I'm glad you are experiencing great summer weather AK, but your video is making me hungry!
My friend took me here when I was visiting LA. It looks cool on video but much better to experience in person. You should go to the La Brea Tar pits and do a walk around that area. I think a bunch of the outside is open to the public to walk through.
The last building to your right before The Plaza serves the "best" Mexican food! Hands down!! Homemade corn tortillss!! Cross the street and visit The Infamois Church! Not enough coverage AK!!
Another awesome and insightful tour man! Love these vids out of LA. I hope that you are having a great time there. Don't worry, you're not missing much here in NYC. Thank you and have a great rest of your stay there!
@drosh413 david hahaha, well said man! But on the flip side, have you been to NYC lately? After covid people have turned into complete assholes here. There is no policing on the streets. Large groups of motorcycle gangs roam the streets, break all traffic rules and cops don't do anything about it. There is trash everywhere yadda yadda yadda. The vibe here blows now and my gf and I want to move out of here ASAP.
@drosh413 david yeah I totally understand man. I haven't been to LA in years but remember it being all of those things that you said about it, hence why I have never returned. Hudson NY is looking mighty fine to me right now.
@@bonniem3754 A lot of New Yorkers still get their stereotypical views of L.A. from NYers like Woody Allen. Which is funny because New Yorkers LOVE Florida, especially places like Miami but hate L.A., even though the two cities have a lot of common.
@@jpla1886 A lot of people are bicoastal too. My family came from the Bronx after WW11. My sister moved to NY many years ago. I have relatives in both cities, and there’s good and bad in both places.
At 11:50 those actually are not masks celebrating day of dead, they are Luchador masks, they are professional Mexican wrestling masks. I forget the name but there is a funny Jack Black movie where he becomes a luchador
A restful video showing some history amidst all the touristy crap southern California offers. But the few folks about indicate that most out-of-towners prefer the crap.
The flag of Los Angeles has 4 symbols of all countries that owned it ; First was Spain then Mexico then Republic of ,California yes California was a country on its own for a few months then the last country that adopted Los Angeles is The United States !
For your benefit its pronounced Cosina not cochina. With all due respect the ladder pronouniation is offensive it means women with bad hi gene. It's Spanish slang. Stay Safe Salute!! AK!
