Ribeira (also called Riveira) is a municipality in Galicia (Spain) located on the west coast of the province of La Coruña, in the Barbanza region. Its capital and most populated urban center is Santa Eugenia de Ribeira (better known as Santa Uxía de Ribeira).
It is the southernmost municipality of the province. It limits with the municipalities of Puebla del Caramiñal and Puerto del Son. It has one of the most relevant inshore fishing ports in the province and even in Europe. In it, tuna destined for manufacturing in their canning companies were unloaded.
It is also one of the most populated in the province after the big cities. It has important administrative services to offer to the population that feeds it, such as a regional Treasury delegation, and three Courts of First Instance and Instruction.
The municipality is administratively divided into nine parishes; Aguiño, Artes, Carreira, Castiñeiras, Corrubedo, Oleiros, Olveira, Palmeira and Ribeira. In the natural plane, it has important beaches such as Coroso, Touro, Castiñeiras, Vilar, and Aguiño and especially those of Corrubedo, which has quiet and urban beaches, such as O Prado, Robeira, Robeiriña and As Furnas, as well as A Ladeira, in the heart of the Corrubedo Dunes Natural Park, and also with beaches open to the Atlantic Ocean, such as Balieiros and O Corgo.
