Is Valletta worth visiting? 🤔
Hey there,
Welcome to our relaxed Valletta Malta Walking Tour!
We invite you to enjoy a stroll with us through the historic heart of the "City of Knights".
In this Valletta walking tour, we take a walk through the streets of Malta’s capital city and show off some of its iconic landmarks and charming alleyways.
So, what is Valletta like?
Witness the breathtaking views of the Valletta Grand Harbour and experience the thrill of the Valletta cannon firing time at the Saluting Battery.
As we stroll through Valletta's enchanting alleyways, you'll discover the oldest café in Valletta, Caffe Cordina, established in 1837.
We'll also visit the Upper Barrakka Gardens, where you can soak in panoramic vistas of the city and its stunning harbour.
Immerse yourself in the city's heritage as we briefly stop outside of St. John's Co-Cathedral, home to Caravaggio's masterpiece, "The Beheading of Saint John the Baptist".
Our Valletta walking tour will also provide you with some great ideas of things to see and do in Valletta Malta if you’re wanting to explore the city outside of the main tourist areas.
Highlights of our Valletta Walking Tour shared in this video include:
Valletta Bus Station
We share some helpful information about the main Valletta Bus Station.
Upper Barrakka Gardens
These beautiful gardens are an oasis of tranquillity in the heart of Valletta and offer panoramic views of the Valletta Grand Harbour.
Saluting Battery & Valletta Cannon Firing
The Saluting Battery stands as one of Malta's most engaging visitor attractions. Immerse yourself in the daily spectacle of the cannon firing at noon.
Sneak Peak Inside Caffe Cordina
With its origins dating back to 1837, Caffe Cordina proudly holds the title of being the oldest café in Valletta. This historic establishment presents an array of pastries, coffee, and delightful light meals.
Valletta Grand Harbour
Valletta Grand Harbour, known as "Il-Port il-Kbir" in Maltese, is a breathtaking natural harbour that has witnessed centuries of maritime history. Its azure waters cradle iconic fortifications, making it a captivating canvas where tradition and modernity converge.
And much, much more…
By the time you finish watching this episode of our Malta VLOG, you'll see that there's so much more to Valletta than just the busy tourist areas.
So, is Malta’s capital city of Valletta worth visiting?
Absolutely!
And finally, if you’re asking "Is Valletta and Malta safe?", from our personal experience, we would say yes it is generally safe, but as everyone has a different perspective on what ‘safe’ means, we’ll leave it to you to do your own research and decide for yourself.

We always enjoy walking the streets of Valletta, even back when we were living in Malta. (And yes, I did get quite a bit of sun on a very hot day when we recorded this one!)

We thought you'd like this one! Valletta and many other parts of Malta have been and are continuing to be used in many scenes for films and television series so you probably have seen it before. Thanks for watching. ❤️

When was this video shot? It seems a bit crowded. Do you have to buy bus tickets in advance or just pay hen you hop on? Cost?

We filmed this video in mid-October. For us it was very comfortable walking around all parts of the city as we were already pretty familiar with the area. Valletta can get very busy when a cruise is docked in as was the case when we were there on this particular visit. As for the bus tickets, you can buy them in advance online or pay on the bus using euros directly with the driver. You can find all about bus ticket prices by doing a search for "Tallinja Bus Ticket". Hope this helps. Thanks for watching!

Thank you for such a quick response. 😊 Can you recommend places to eat or sights in St Julian?😊

One thing we liked to do on a Sunday when we were staying in Malta was to walk from St George's Bay to Sliema along the coastline streets passing by Spinola Bay and St Julian's Bay along the way. It's a really nice relaxing walk and you'll discover little restaurants, bars ad cafes along the way too, especially once you get to Balluta Bay. As for specific places to eat, we can't recall any specific places but can say we did make pit stops for drinks and snacks at different places each time to mix things up.

It’s a shame that the Roman Catholic Church charges to go into the Cathedral.
