The first part of my walk along the Worcester and Birmingham Canal. I start at Old Turn Junction on the Birmingham Mainline Canal, where it joins the Birmingham and Fazeley Canal. I make the short walk through Brindley Place to where the Worcester and Birmingham begins/ends at Gas Street Basins, and then its off towards Worcester. Finishing this part of the walk at Selly Oak's Bristol Road Bridge (Bridge 80). Along the way we pass through Edgbaston Tunnel, Birmingham University and the Ariel Aqueduct. I stop off for a quick explore around The University of Birmingham.

Thank you for watching and commenting. Yes, a real mixture as you head out of the city centre, In a few more episodes, the canal will be out into open countryside. That's my favourite 👌

Wow, the canals are beautiful, I would love to visit this area specifically. Thanks for sharing, Happy New Year from Italy 🇮🇹

Thank you for watching. The canals are lovely, and the scenery is always changing the further you walk. I prefer the countryside sections or city centre like the beginning of this video. Happy New Year. 🎊

Hi Andy this looked like a really lovely walk, and the part near the Nia Arena looked so nice. Seems funny to have a Sealife Centre next to it but great. Also seems strange to be able to see Birmingham Uni from there when I think of how different Llangollen is to here :) Loved the Old Joe clock tower when you walked around the uni grounds. This is what's great about canal walks as you walk from place to place you realise how the view can change so much. Love it , thanks again for walking the miles so that we can see these places that we would not think of going to :) Happy New Year ! ~ Anna 👍

Thank you Anna, it's the last of the canals I had to walk out of the city centre, It was the first time I had walked around the university. I have seen that clock so many times, driving or walking around, but I've never seen it up close. I'm looking forward to walking the next section as it runs through Bournville and close to Cadburys. Thank you for watching.

It's so cool exploring Birmingham and Worcester with you. Though I have been ro bother I didn't get the chance to explore it properly. Walking along the canal is so nice :) you definitely get to take in some cool sites and everything definitely looks really magical this time of year. It's great there are places to eat/drink just on the water from what it looks like. Awesome walk even though its a wet day xx

Thank you again for watching. There are plenty of bars and restaurants along that stretch of canal and just off it. I do like a trip to Birmingham, but it's so local, a short train ride away. It rained a little at the beginning but soon stopped. Thank you again for watching 👍👍

Hi Andy, great video. Thanks for the memories, as I walked this canal down to the 2 tunnels (Wast Hill) and Brandwood On the Stratford North Canal this summer. It looks a lot different in the winter I must say. Looking forward to the next video, take care.

Thank you Graham. I will do the next one to King's Norton soon. Glad it brings back memories. While the trees are bare I thought I would do some urban canal footage, leave the more rural until we get the green back. Thank you for watching and commenting. Happy New Year.

Amazing views of Brum that 'you' never see (I write as a narrowbioater from the Thames). Much of the material may only be of interest to a visiting btoeter - becaus as such your're below the scenery. There's a lot more detail that can only be seen from a height - higher than on a boat and a bit more than walking / cycling! Best watched from youtube and in full screen. The misty view adds some magic to the presentation. Don't let the constant panning and tracking motion throughout - it adds to the magic of Brum in the mist....

Thank you Henry, it seems like so long ago that I walked that section of that canal, and I've only recently finished it in Worcester. Thank you for watching and commenting, I'm glad you enjoyed the video. All the best, Webby 👍🏻

How do you knkw how many miles it is walking these canals whilst planning an itineray for a hike?
@WebbysWalks

Hi John, to be fair I don't do much planning, but I do draw a line on Google maps, following a path I'm about to walk, It tells you how long the line is in Km. I don't know how accurate it is but it gives me a rough idea.

Thank you. I'm glad you enjoyed the video. I'm learning about these canals as I walk them. I find some of the boards I see along the way, really interesting. I hope you have a great holiday. I have just finished walking the Droitwich Canals, which I think is this Saturdays video on my channel. Thanks again for watching and your comment, all the best, Webby 👍

@@WebbysWalks ooo….. il check them out. I always pause it on your signs that you stop at. I love learning new stuff about the History of Canals. Makes our Holidays on them more of an adventure knowing what they used to carry along there and what the old buildings were used for. Love it.
