Walking Tour of Springfield, Ohio: South Side to Downtown and Back on a Sunny Day! ASMR Walking

Come with me on a walking tour of my neighborhood in Springfield, OH from my home via South Fountain Avenue to downtown, through the Saturday Farmers' Market and back up Wittenberg Avenue returning to my home again.
It's just a walk, but I do make some commentary along the way. Just mute it if you don't want to hear it. I'm calling it ASMR because I've gotten so many comments suggesting this might be a good idea.
My first feature-length film! Not to worry, though, keto fans! I'll be back with a new recipes soon and often in both French and English. It's a lot of fun playing with this gimbal. I'm learning a good deal about photography and thinking maybe I'm not so crazy to want to take the show out of the kitchen once in a while.
I just created a playlist, TIM'S World, for this and other videos on my channel that deal with something other than low-carb cooking.

The city needs more folks like you producing videos that show attractive streets and neighborhoods rather than the kind that show "hoods", blight and decay.

Hi richardsmith5394! Thanks! I've been thinking about doing a couple more of these since I go on daily walks here in Springfield. There are some nice neighborhoods, even here on the south side.

Perrin is my old neighborhood.😊 The house on Wittenberg that you spoke of with no trespassing on the door, won the Neighborhood Beautification award when the previous owner lived there. It makes me sad to see how it looks now 😢

Maybe I should make a new video. I often take a walk in the morning and, at least in part of the neighborhood, there have been some improvements. It's still pretty nice in a lot of ways!

Nice neighbourhood. I bet these homes have great content for garage sales, as they are older homes. Do a Saturday morning video going to garage sales, that would be fun. Keep inspiring.

Just wanted to thank you for such a nice video. As I recall marketplace used to be the city building health department and at the other end was what’s called the police department.

Thanks for returning me to my roots! I grew up there and left as a young adult 50 years ago. It has been over 5 years since I was back and now live too far away to probably ever return. You gave this senior a trip back to my childhood.

My stepson is moving from Escondido California to the 1000 block of N Limestone street. Thank you for this video as I can see there are some nice old neighborhoods here. Venturing into the unknown always has questions and concerns. Have a great day.

Even as the Walk progressed, the neighborhood still was ALOT better than many areas i have seen .... there are the Architectural variations that bring back memories for me. ..

It's true that what you see here could be worse. To tell you the truth, I can't get over how pretty most of it looks on video and how friendly people were! I come away from filming this appreciating my neighborhood and the area downtown a bit more. I've lived here for almost 30 years and it's still strange to me somehow! The camera has odd, unexpected effects...

Well, hello again! Funny you should ask! We were thinking about emigrating to Québec or maybe elsewhere in Canada before the pandemic--I want French and snow in my reality; I taught (especially early) Canadian history for nearly 20 years when I was a professor, so Canada looms large in my imagination--but it's probably just a silly pipe dream.

Love these walkabout videos so nice to see the real parts of the US rather than in movies. Great that you explain things as you go along maybe some more about the history to give more interesting detail. You could have a separate channel called Tim Walks and have shorter videos and a bit about the place like a tour. It was quite relaxing listening to your steps and cars going by love your voice it’s very soothing. Meeting the locals is wonderful X

Hiya Toots! Thanks for these comments and interesting suggestions! I'm not quite sure WHAT I'm doing with these walking videos, but I REALLY like them, too! The length is a bit of a challenge, I suppose, for some viewers, but is not unusual for this type of video of a walk in real time. I wanted to keep the narrative and discursive information to a minimum so viewers would focus more on the images and feel the experience of walking. Anyway, this is certainly not the last time I'll upload this sort of thing, but I doubt very much it will become a staple of the channel.

@@TIMTalksCooking well I loved it we had a guy did a walk around of Berwick upon Tweed just in the border of Scotland and it was really good to watch before my visit there. I think you are doing great just takes practice. Please don’t stop cooking in English and French I think you are amazing!

Oh you... There will definitely be more cooking videos soon--and often. You've convinced me to go back to more talking, but I wonder if maybe I shouldn't try reading a poem or other literary text...
