Thank you so much for this trip! I love it when you stop long enough to really let us look at the flowers! My goodness, that one train was L O N G. Thanks for giving Dougal that kiss just before the end of the video. That's exactly what I do with my girl Sophie.
Mr. Ditton, this is a great place for a nice walk with Mr. Dougal. We truly love y’all walks, please do more of them. Knowledging that you are a very busy person. Thank you for sharing your videos Ciao y’all from the friendly Alabama
Andrew Ditton thank you, we will be walking beside you and Mr Dougal in spirit ( wishing we would actually be there with y’all ) Hugs and kisses to the both of you
Once again, you have outdone yourself, a train and a walk and some incredibly beautiful shots of the scenery (including a pensive Dougal). I was so engrossed in watching that the end was rather jarring. It came too soon. Watching Dougal cross that footbridge reminded me of the amazing green river in Europe where you filmed Dougal crossing a narrow footbridge.
Thank you for the memory's. While staying in Whitby. Myself and daughter took a day trip to Goathland. Love the carvings natural wood. Beautiful woodland flowers. Love the sheep. Thank you for the video. Love to Dougal. 💖💕💟💞💝💝
Camped with little kids 10 minutes drive from Whitby and rode the fabulous steam train both ways with a spell bound son aged about 5 (now 32!) 😍 you’ve made me want to go back but not in a tent! 😄
What I love about the GB is that it appears to be really dog-friendly in so far as you can pretty much take your dog everywhere. Thank you, Andrew, love your post
Wonderful. It brought back memories of a lovely day I had early last year. Spent a few hours around Grosmont, and had the priviledge of seeing Tornado pull in a very full train. Then I went to "Aidensfield", had a pint in the Aidensfield Arms and a great walk around the village. Then it was a long drive down to Stanstead for the trip home to Spain. But that day in the North York Moors was the highlight of my trip.
Hi Andrew, really loved the video, watching tucked up in bed in the caravan on a fantastic little site just outside of Pickering would you believe, keep up the good work, all the best Dean 🙂
Britian, Scotland and Wales are charming. Had some great trips there. But I live in Switzerland, where natural beauty really does abound. A much cleaner country with a great high living standard. Love to you and darling Dougal.
@@alanjackson4646 Well how can they live here without being highly qualified, speak German/ French/ English before they come. Besides we as Swiss do not want them here. Who pays for these migrants. Us Swiss. Forget it - never would we carry this burden.
If you feel the roads are a little narrow! That's saying something!! The sign saying "on this site" as well as the carved bench made me smile. Made me remember my first walk through a sheep pasture...opening and closing the gate...and being so close to the sheep. Thank you for sharing a wonderful video.
Andrew, we thank you for all your inspiration. We are actually at Coll Beach, Isle of Lewis. We are since yesterday on the Islands and it is breathtaking. You deserve so much because of your videos. Thanks. Dirk
Great video, very One man and his dog, Countryfile and Great British Railway Journeys with a bit of action. Dougal doing his best Bear Grylls impression cross that bridge by himself. Fabulous, more please.
Oh you visited heartbeat. Brilliant. So nice to see a dog friendly place you can take your dog into instead of being banished outside in the naughty courtyard lol. Please, some unruly kids make more mess. Lol.
What a fantastic vlog. We love this area. We did this with Karina’s mum had a fantastic day out and got mostly covered in soot. It was part of the charm. Watching this took us both back, thank you. 😊
We just got back from a few days at the Grand Canyon of the Colorado River. North America has many beautiful things to see yet getting there takes so much time. I love how you show so much variety in your homeland that I've never known about. We definitely need to plan ways to visit there and include time to ride some trains pulled by steam locomotives. Thank you for showing me things I never knew about.
That's one thing we are very lucky with here in the UK and in Europe - you don't have to travel too far to experience something completely different. I hope you can get here some day.
I came to this video because I realise how much I miss the railway I live in Kildale which runs to Grosmont and I would get the train to whitby every school day and although I complained because the train ride to an hour I really took it for granted.
Ah my part the world. Goathland and all the surrounding area is beautiful and miles of fabulous walks. Pity you didn't have time to detour from your walk and nip into the small but pretty Birch Hall Inn at Beck Hole. It's a short walk from the trail you were following and in a beautiful position by a river. Rosedale too is lovely and steeped in history. Great walk there follows the old rail trail that runs high around the dale with great views and plenty of reminders of the iron ore mining which used to be carried out here. Keep em coming Andrew
Hi Andrew, A time when people moved at a much slower pace, 19th century technology still has a reliance, a part to play! Cheers to you Sir for your high endorsement of local businesses, if one gets good service of course it should be pointed out & you do! The flora & fauna of the downhill hiking segment conjures up what England of old, harkening back in time. Well done as per usual Andrew, thank you Sir & to Dougal as well! 🚂🐑🚶☕🍝🍩🇬🇧
Another one I had to click on Andrew. I had a day out on the train from Pickering, and a walk back. Checked my blog post thinking I might have been on that very same train, but no, it was a different one, 45212. I love steam trains. Thanks for this, I love that area. Best wishes, ilona
Oh Thank you Andrew for taking us along with you to one of my heritage railways ( we have been members here for many years) I always love that walk. You need to go back another day and park at Grosmont that way you will have more time to explore the engine sheds etc... and a cute tearoom called the old schoolhouse is always my favourite place for a cuppa :D I loved your B roll and seeing you and dougal looking so happy . Thanks for sharing :D Teddy
Thank you! I would like to go visit the engine sheds, but I wouldn't know where to leave Dougal, unless as you say I park there and not Pickering. I'm yearning to go back.
Great video Andrew, I love this walk and this beautiful railway. You may have already done it, but another great one nearby is Levisham Moor and the Hole of Horcum, theres a little detour to skelton Tower which offers an incredible view of the line.
Nice one Mark! Where do you drive? I used to drive 373s as part of my 'emergency driver' qualification. It sounds impressive but they were pretty much 'Push to go, pull to stop' ;@)
I drive the dart trains in Dublin, there’s plenty of nice stops on it for a cup of tea and a walk around however the trains themselves are relatively boring compared to the 373s and the one in your video .I have reduced travel on the ferries and UK trains so maybe next time I go over I will do a trip like yours for my low cost weekender - thanks for your idea 😀
Well my Sweetheart is from Yorkshire area and loved seeing her home. I love TRAINS, had always hoped as a young lad to become an Engineer.....did not happen. Thanks for sharing and I do love the Steam Locomotives......
Another super video, thank you. I love to see your trips with Dougal on the steam trains. As a Lancashire lass now living in sw France I have lovely memories of some of the places you visit. Brilliant, very enjoyable 👍
Enjoyed the video and will read the comments next but first..... Been on that railway many times as I live in N Yorks and have camped many times nearby (at Pickering, Hutton le Hole, Goathland, Newton Upon Rawcliffe, Levisham, Whitby etc which are all near to or on the NYMoors Rwy). But I was looking forward to your nipping in to the Birch Hall Inn (a very quirky pub at Beck Hole) where many walkers stop. A REALLY tiny bar there, a sweetshop in the middle and a "lounge" on the other side - as well as a nice beer garden where you can drink one of the several guest ales and eat a "Beck Hole Butty" - cheese and pickle or ham in a wholemeal Stottie - or a pork pie and pickle. Love that pub and, yes, I've got the T-shirt!
A lot of folk, and the Guide on the train, recommended that pub Raymond. But time was against us as I spent too long in Goathland procrastinating. So you know what that means? Yup, we'll need to go back...
Hi Andrew. This a lovely part of the Country. I have to confess it’s 20 years since we last went. Enjoyed your video very much. Their Train set is a bit bigger than yours😂😂 thanks for sharing P&J👍😀
Great to watch yet another lovely composed video! How lovely the English countryside looks! I am not asking you to comment or to put a downer on things and so I won’t. Only to say that I am and like a lot of others becoming more fearful of climate change and what our footprint is regarding pollution. I am now just 60yrs of age and have enjoyed the most wonderful hay day of my life getting around our land. What are we to do with massive tariffs being put on diesel and the fact that the government want us all to switch to electric vehicles. I know I won’t be around to see it but I hope the universe has the answer because no one else has! I do -do my bit and so maybe that is enough. It’s just a thought that I am sure you have already realised. All the best. Peter. ❤️
Its OK saying go electric but will we be able to meet the demand, and what i you live in a block of flats or a terraced house, how do you charge your vehicle.
Love these videos. A couple of years ago I stayed Ruswarp in a converted railway station on this line. Lovely part of the world. By the way lovely footage of Dougal half way through too. Hope he enjoyed his sausage x
Great video as ever Andrew, thank you. Will you be taking a trip on the Jacobite during your time in Scotland this summer? Sadly I didn’t get time to do it myself last month when touring the Highlands, on the list for next year now
