Walkthrough of the Final Design! | Adam LZ House Renovation Project 

Love this series! Growing up with a mom as an interior designer, and being the biggest lz x og fan makes this content really intruiging! Thanks Matt.

I know exactly what you’re talking about with the tongue and groove with a fan. Everything we build up here in the smokies that has a vaulted ceiling with tongue and groove gets a fan. Another thing you could do to help get the light you’re wanting, run a box beam from wall to wall on the beams that they have following the roof angle. Throw can lights in. We’ve done it plenty of times on remodels and it looks good. One of the many curses of a vaulted ceiling. I’ve framed them out and capped them in drywall or you can cap them out in finishing alpine and paint them to match the rest of the ceiling as you guys are painting it anyway. Really wish I could post pictures here to show the work and how it turned out.

Waiting till the rest of the room is updated to make a decision on that door was a great choice. That is such a nice door and it may work really well with a more updated interior around it

@Obsessed Garage As a High-end Loudspeaker designer of almost 30 years I applaud you for wanting to go with Floor standing speakers over built in, at the same time I also dont envy you having to deal with that room. Watching the previous video and the walk through the number of hard surfaces in that room couldn't make it any more reflective and I don't see Lauren letting you add a load of tube traps and defuser panels although you might get away with some scatter rugs and perhaps the odd wall hanging to soften the acoustics. I think if it was me I would be looking into a room correction system to try and correct for the reflections. Not sure what you had in mind for the source amplification but im guessing your thinking Denon, Marantz or Yamaha receiver but personally I would be looking into Primare as a source amplifier as it has but in DIRAC room correction as well as being a little more boutique of a brand.

Lighting is a Matt nonnegotiable. Everything must be lit. You can tell how adamant he is about it.

Matt, I worked with interior designers before. I have my own preferences that I want to keep or implement, but the designers completely ignore them and insist on going with them. They wouldn't even let me have a say. I am seeing some of that here. You want to have some of your own elements, but she wants hers. What do you do here? You're the boss.

Matt, Just a thought, what if you recessed linear lighting within the faux ceiling beams? Using the type of lighting that's in your garage. That would give you both the modern and industrial look that you're looking to achieve in the design. Your thoughts?

I would not do 1 light in the laundry room, because you will always be casting a shadow on whatever you are doing in there and not see anything. I would just recommend a few can lights

Ive done remodels and now i strictly build cabinetry and built-in's. This walk through gives me so much anxiety knowing the work ahead and all the change orders that will inevitably take place. This job will take double the amount of time that is expected because when one trade has an issue it will hold up the next from what they need to do. The worst are customers who cant make their mind up only to change it when almost done... Im starting to breath hard right now!!! Got to go.

So Matt, when can we expect this series to start, January like you said ?

Love the plans so far. For the lighting you should look at Asalola Skyine Linear lights. They are pretty modern industrial design. They look super awesome as well

I'm sure that this house will be incredible when the remodel is done, but the house will still be what it is and dollar-for-dollar it in the long run from a real estate prospective, the house will still be functionally obsolescent from multiple perspectives, more importantly the # of bedrooms and baths and the exterior design.

I woulda Went medium dark grey stucko the walls and ultra high gloss and stained all the wood deep but bright red. Change out the fachas on all the cabnettes to modern as well as all the accessories like handles and such to match the color and style. high/lux styling Way cheaper.

I can see the vision n how the house will look once done. But 13k on one tape😮 narrrr it looks amazing dont get me wrong. But 13k, that thing better squirt out beer, wine n soda on top of hot cold n boiling water plus wash the dishes for you.

Should have the lights off the wall under the 2nd floor above the kitchen that hang out over

Why not put trim pieces on the beams on the ceiling that have strip lights behind them. Lots of accent lighting. Modern and clean

i would of put either recessed gimbaled lights in the beams all the way up since theyre hollow. / or even a recessed led strips on the sides of the beams.

clear coat the plank with matte clear...itll stop the mold and look just as classy...that waterwheel is obscenely overpriced and ugly as all hell too
