Sleek hull shape, sharp lines, a premium MirageDrive that offers forward and reverse with Kick-up fin tech, loads of cargo space and massive room to accessorize. The Compass hull is roto-molded allowing it to have sharp lines and features as well as being incredible durable. Hull shape is narrow and sleek up forward allowing it to cut through the water easily and quietly, just under the seat the hull has buoyancy at its edges maximizing stability but still narrow enough to be easily paddled and fast through the water. in the tail the Compass hull is very wide making for a large cargo area but the bottom side the hull is a multi-hull design that minimizes drag and sheds water but has plenty of secondary capacity for times when you load up the rear cargo area with gear or a pet.
This model has been in our line up for a few years but has seen changes and upgrades each year. New is a lighter and more comfortable seatback. Other notable features are a responsive rudder that is cleanly nested under the back of the hull and folds up and springs back into place if you get into shallow water or obstacles. Forward cargo area with mesh cover, this is a handy place to store items and the cover keeps them secured easily and quickly. Accessory mounting tracks on each side of the user, easy to mount any extra accessories to without needing to drill and mount any bases.

I just got the camo version. It is amazing for fishing. So great being hands free from paddling. Also you can cover water faster using the pedal drive. Easy to stand up in and stretch out or fish. Also love how the kayak cart makes moving a 12ft boat really easy. Great boat!

The 2022 Compass is by far the best boat you have in your lineup. In my book the ability to easily transport the kayak is at the very top. Anything bigger than a Compass is just too big to haul around day to day. We fulltime RV and the Compass ticked all the boxes (The ACE tec Lynx is just too delicate - we had 2 SUPS with the same material that easily cracked). I've had a 2021 Outback, 2017 Compass and now 2 2022 compasses. The seat upgrade, arc 180 fins were a huge game changer to the older compass. Glad I sold my other two for these two compasses. The two gripes I have is the amount of energy to get the boat off the launch with the new kick up fins. The older drive seemed to get out of the gate slightly faster. I am debating on pulling the trigger on the turbo fins to get that additional jump. The second issue is that the front of the seat is slightly too low to slide my shoes or plano boxes under. (I smell a mod coming soon for this). I love to see a lynx done in a roto mold filled with foam. Wonder how much weight you could shave over the compass if any? Edit: I sold the 2021 Outback due to amount of water you take on because the boat cuts through waves instead of riding over them. My gear and myself stay a lot drier in the Compass.

I know the Lynx is getting all the attention these days but the durability of this Yak, is what I'm liking along with the light weight.

Love my 2021 Compass after installing the vertical rectangular hatch but the new 2022 is a step backwards. 1) You cannot install the Vertical rectangular hatch, only the horizontal which is not ideal in this kayak 2) The new seat is MAJOR step down in quality. 3) it looks like Hobie STILL has not fixed the issue with the mid-ship scuppers being not centered. I don't know if it's a quality control issue on your mold or what, it's seemingly a very minor flaw, but it is a major factor in the above mentioned hatch fitting by being off by about a 1/4 inch off center, biased to the right. It's clearly visible in the videos that the scuppers are still not symmetrical looking at the gaps in the mid-deck reliefs.

From looks of it they have QC issues on everything the past few years. Kayak shop down the street has received a bunch of kayaks and accessories that have been either missing parts or defective from Hobie this past year. But yeah no clue why they downgraded the seats. Considering they are selling what is effectively a cheap 30 dollar stadium set for like 300 bucks. Guess they are trying to milk as much as they can off their remaining patents before they expire, only reason they pushed out the thermoformed Passport was from competition cloning their expired mirage drive patent.

So I bought the deck pad kit, hopefully it fits perfectly with the new version. And my only complaint is why don’t u guys change the cup holder design (At least put a strap). Basically is useless without mod 😤

The seat and mounts are absolute trash on a otherwise a great kayak. Honestly the PA seat should be standard on all models for the markup hobie is charging.
