Great movie, visuals and audio are excellent in this 4K disc. Looks amazing on OLED screen. Highly recommended for any WallE fans.

Definitely getting that! I’ve had that in my cart for a long time and never pulled the trigger. Now that it’s coming to 4k, I’m getting it on day 1

I would be curious but I don’t have the previous release but I have seen Criterion’s stream of them and those were good. These movies look beautiful so they are a great choice for 4k

My fav pixar. By far. Watched it twice in cinemas. Owned the blu. Now this one. Hopeully ill get a chance to watch it this weekend. Its crazy its been almost 15 years since it was released. Seems like yesterday

I can’t believe it’s been that long also. I remember when it came out and seeing it in theaters also and just being blown away by it. Watching it again last night was like falling in love with it again!

Your going to love it. It’s a big jump from the blu ray. That was the biggest jump I saw but going from the other 4k or the disney plus stream the upgrade is a little less noticeable

Just got the set today and I'm happy with it overall. This is my first ever criterion release that I bought and boy is it great. Although am I the only one that thinks the menu backgrounds for the two Blu-ray discs are better than what the 4K disc got? Maybe I'm just stupid but I really the location fly arounds on the Blu-ray disc. Especially the second location fly around on Blu-ray disc 2, that soundscape is just amazing. Much better than what the 4K disk guy where it's just clips from the movie.

Also right now on Amazon it's also half off, and that's where I ordered mine because even a couple months back when it was first announced on Amazon it was going for like $30 and as a minimum wage college student I'll take any deal I can get my hands on.

Also I'm not gonna lie, I really hope Criterion gets a chance to do a 4K transfer of Tron. That movie is one I think needs that level of love just for the fact that the film is a big part of film history.

I. noticed the blu ray Backgrounds also and thought the exact same thing. That would of been much cooler on the 4K. For $30 this is a steal! One of the best 4ks you can get. Tron would be an awesome edition I agree it’s good and it’s historically significant so it’s perfect for the Criterion Collection. Hopefully Them and Disney keep making these

Does the regular Blu-ray included in the Criterion also have Dolby Atmos on it?

No the regular blu ray is compressed and that has a dts 5.1 on it.

Yes it’s got Dolby Vision over it witch the previous 4k didn’t have. When I compared it to Disney Plus’s 4k Stream witch has Dolby vision also It was noticeably better but not by much. Since the previous 4k is the same scan as this it’s not going to be a huge jump. The selling point is the packaging and the new extras.

I actually just checked the box again it doesn’t say Scan it just says 4k Digital Master. That’s just a mistake on my part that I misread.

Even after the CGI is rendered, it is still kept as a "final negative" either as a proper film negative or as an archival digital hard drive. Just like any other film with CGI...the "Final master" is still stored on something beyond just as files on a computer. They don't re-render every bit of CGI every time they do a new disc, they are taking whatever "master" they have of the finished film and transferring/scanning it to a disc

That’s what I had thought. It’s rendered originally then it’s like anything else where they put HDR or Dolby Vision over that particular scan. The color grading can all be adjusted from there. Thank you for that information It’s really appreciated!

@@creategreatness8823 thats right, they keep both… wall-e was put to a 35mm negative, but only as a fail-safe-option… the actual master is all digital… so no rescanning for this disc.
