Welcome to Lets Talk Entertainment & Media and I will be your host here on the channel. My name is John Keefe and I review movies, 4K blu rays, and we do lists, podcasts and plenty more! Make sure your subscribed so you don’t miss anything!
He dumps the Porsche in Lake Michigan, and the reason that the car dies in the driveway is because he isn't giving it enough gas while letting off the clutch. It's a classic rookie mistake when learning how to drive a stick aka manual transmission. Great review, as always!
The transfer for BRONX TALE 4k is ok. A lot of reviews out there show a lot of hate for the transfer. The color is pumped up and has added grain but I think the movie looks ok. Not the way we have seen it before, but it didn't bother me. As long it's not switching from bad to good it's a consisted ok.
I totally bought the Risky Business, it was my first time purchasing the film ever. I have seen it. My favorite Tom movie? Minority Report, my friend is so freaking good.
Tropic Thunder. Weirdly enough I just watched that Going Clear documentary for the first time and if you weren't soured by him before you'd defiantly be now. I know you've got to separate the art from the artist but yikes. Does Step Brothers count? If not Superbad. There's a coming of age movie coming out on Netflix in August from writers behind Philly and The Mick called Incoming that I'm kind of looking forward to because those writers are making it and it has a mini The Mick reunion just Kaitlin Olson alone would make it worth checking out though.
I love Kaitlyn Olsen! I would love to see that! I appreciate her work on other stuff besides just Always Sunny! She really is just so funny lol. Yeah I saw that documentary too and then read about how he doesn’t see his daughter because of the Religion. You really have to separate the art from the artist because that stuff does kind of freak me out lol.
I actually had that at one point! I thought it was the TV or player because it only happened once so I assumed it was on my end. I didn’t know that was an issue others had.
@themtgdude486 those are all great too. Magnolia really stands out. That character really has layers and he’ll have you crying despite how he is at the beginning.
Hey John!!! My favorite Tom Cruise movie is Jerry Maguire!!! I just love this movie, his character and acting on it!!!! And my favorite coming of age movie is EASILY The PERKS OF BEING A WALLFLOWER!!!!!!!! I loved it so much that I also read the book!!!! What is your favorite Tom Cruise movie and favorite coming of age movie John????????????
I love Pers of being a Wallflower. Either that or Edge of Seventeen would be my favorite. Even Risky Buisness is up there for me too. My favorite Tom movie is Days of Thunder. I don’t think that’s his best but it’s my favorite lol
Collateral is one that doesn’t get talked about as much as other Cruise movies but it’s really a great movie. And Stand By Me has always been a favorite coming of age movie.
I agree! I actually believe that’s his best role. It’s not my favorite but that is his best performance. He’s actually scary and blends in a crowd. I wish he would do that or something Similar again
@@LetsTalkEntertainmentMedia Especially on the first watch. It’s such a fun ride. It’s still good on a rewatch but man, that first time is awesome. Reminds me of Training Day in that sense.
The Last Samurai and Jerry Maguire is one of my favourites from Tommy boy. I hope Last Samurai will get a 4k release as that would look perfect for the format.
I can’t believe they haven’t given that the 4K treatment. Thats another one I remember ebbing very popular but never gets talked about anymore. It’s crazy how some movies just end up being forgotten.
Who ownes the rights to this movie? Probably Disney 😢😢😢😢 this movie needs a 4k transfer. If done correctly, it could be a reference quality disc for sure!
A very silly American film . Please dont try to put it in the same league as Deer Hunter or Apocalypse Now . This was filmic junk food for the Ronald Rayguns video generation
I would absolutely put it up there with The Deer Hunter or Apocalypse now. As far as the message of the movie they’re very similar while the other two are more of an epic in scope. Rambo is a container story that takes place over a shorter amount of time and is in a small town. But it’s still a Vietnam story about how Soldiers are treated when they returned and what they had to cope with. V
@@LetsTalkEntertainmentMedia Absolutely not . Its up there with Green Berets and other pro America nonsense ( Oh the poor GI's etc . What about the poor Vietnamese you bastards murdered ?
SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER is my favorite coming of age film. All Tony thinks about is partying on Saturday night and dream about the future. No different than Gen Z who want easy jobs that pay a lot so they can party on the weekend.
Watching this movie after last seeing it for like 25 years to me this movie reminded me of John Hughes style. I'm sure he was influenced by this movie.
I 1st watched this on VHS in 1984 and liked it. Then on laserdisc, dvd & bluray and always liked the movie. Now I watched this 4k and now I don't like the movie. Nothing to do with the transfer it's good it just became a boring movie to me. I watched the director's cut .
I reviewed 'At Close Range' , but as I deleted the channel, the video's gone. I own the Imprint region free Australian blu-ray which is packed with extra features. You're right the sound is very stunning. The final shot of the film, the way is freezes and then zooms is, reminded me of François Truffaut's classic coming of age film '400 Blows'.
To anyone saying that Clyde was bad or turned bad you really need to rewatch the movie and break down what he was doing. He was killing the justice system anyone who was associated with it or agreed with it he was killing to prove a point that it’s Krupt and that anyone who stands on there side and supports that unfairness for him and any other past or current or future victims he wanted to make a point and make Jamie Foxx and the whole legal community understand why and what has to be changed but sadly enough I don’t think Jamie Foxx really understood. I think this is an outstanding movie the acting is on point, the message is very deep and well very real especially considering our legal system in real life is horrid and krupt idk just 1 man’s opinion but let me tell you if your a man and you have or want a family and this were to happen to them and the justice system failed you on top of your family being slaughtered the people who are supposed to have our backs and fight justice where it’s supposed to be fought and it didn’t happen well maybe you would want the same outcome as Clyde did too….
Ok, I got the Criterion bluray from the library and I see it's a 1984 movie which means I did see this before on VHS during the 80s'. As I'm watching it looks familiar but I see it's 2 & half hours long! The bluray looks beautiful! I wish Criterion did this great of a job on MIDNIGHT COWBOY or FAST TIMES AT RIDGEMOUNT HIGH.
Midnight Cowboy really needs this treatment bad! I haven’t updated Fast times from the blu ray I have to Criterion actually. I did hear it’s better then what I have lol
@@LetsTalkEntertainmentMedia I finished watching this and do remember it now. I didn't like the movie and it's way too long. I liked the performance by Dean Stockwell and the kid. Harry Dean Stanton gave his same old performance he gives which is good. Movie is not enjoyable to me because the dad takes his son on that road trip and puts him in danger. This movie is on the level of MIDNIGHT COWBOY in way. I would have liked it had it been shorter and a better music score. Would not buy this great looking blu-ray because I would rather watch JAWS 3 or JAWS 4 two movies that suck but has some entertaining scenes.
@ricogomez4020 Hwy I always respect your opinion! It’s one of my all time favorites but ai can see why you wouldn’t love it. I also don’t love that decision to take his son especially without telling his guardians. I just trout that as it’s the 80s and certain things just were fine then that aren’t now. Because today that would not fly. ai feel like if he told his brother he would understand. maybe he just thought that’s my kid and he should be with his mother.
I went to see TWISTERS and I can't say I like it. The acting was very good including the extras who were scared, the music soundtrack was excellent! No "F"ing way I give TWISTERS a 9! I give this a 6. A 9 means you are putting this movie up there with SOUND OF MUSIC, WEST SIDE STORY, WIZARD OF OZ, CITIZEN KANE! I wouldn't want the 4k free in fact if I won it, I would trade for the current transfer of T2. I hope Glenn Powell doesn't do any comic book movies he's too good for that.
I actually heard he might get cast for the DCEU or what ever they are calling it for Batman. I think every score has to be put into context. This is a very different movie from West Side Story or Sound of music. Me personally, I don’t even love those two movies loll. I just appreciate them. I will probably never rewatch them while Twisters will more than likely go into the permanent rotation. It’s a summer Blockbuster so I grade it comparing to others. The movies you listed are all timers, Even if I don’t love the all of them, I still appreciate t them all.
@@LetsTalkEntertainmentMedia Then as far as disaster movies go, I give TITANIC, TOWERING INFERNO a 10. I put TWISTERS at a 6 on par with BEYOND THE POSIDEN ADVENTURE and AIRPORT 1977.
Thank you so much buddy! He was great. It always make me sad because in very movie he doesn’t look that old and he only passed away 3 years after this.
I just watched this iin an XD theater! It's a fun movie!!!!! The visual and sound effects are great!!!! The best part is that my sister treated me!!!!! Yes I'm definitely getting the 4K blu ray for this one!!! Do you know when it will be released on physical media???????
I just checked yesterday and there is no official release date. I’m going to guess Late September early October! That was nice of your sinister to treat you to the movie!
I watched Jaws 3 last night and noticed an audio issue (maybe)…..the Dolby Atmos track has really low vocal track. Anyone else notice or do I have a defect?
I didn’t think it was a great track but it seemed to be mixed pretty well as far as the dialogue. I did think overall though it didn’t lack a lot of punch so I had the whole track turned up higher then normal.
Jaws 4 is my favorite sequel, I know it's a piece of shit but I love how bad the shark looks and how stupid of a plot it has, I mean who doesn't love a psychic shark chasing a depressed widow. Plus I genuinely think the opening death is one of the best in the franchise I just loved it so much.
That opening death was great and it felt exactly like how a cold wintery night in the north east feels. It might be a bad movie but I didn’t hate my time with it and will rewatch it again for sure!
