Proud to see a young guy like you showing the next kid the trade but all with respect, detail, and care. We need more people like you in this industry. From one carpenter to another, I salute you!

I see you have a square tool, I like it too. Everyone else seems to have a different opinion of it, bcoz of how it looks. Not the typical framing square.

good job both of you. I like the crayon marks better than the "X". Here in my area, we call trimmers jacks, an "X" in a hurry can look like a "J" or vice versa. I can see that being a huge advantage on wet slimy PT lumber. You taught this old dog another new trick.

As long as you’re learning, new tricks, you’ll never be an old dog!

Thanks for doing these videos. I think the POV is a good setup. It gives the viewer the feeling they're doing the work and I'm sure it's much easier to film than moving a camera all the time. Some questions if you don't mind. How much strategy goes into deciding what walls are through walls vs. butt walls? If I understand correctly you're pulling all layout from the same corner so that studs stack on floor framing. If you were building a single storey on a slab with clear span roof trusses would you still pull everything from the same corner or would you shift layout to dodge plumbing, make for efficient drywall cutting, etc.?

I’ve always pulled from the same corner so that way all the studs line up in all the walls when you walk through the house, it makes it really satisfying 😂 But I try to adjust for plumbing as needed either way Also for which walls run long and which ones butt, I typically just try to think about two things, which way allows me to build more walls at once without one being in the way, and secondly whichever way makes it easier to add on corner sheets when standing the walls
