Hanging 70+ pounds of a vibrating machine off 4 drywall anchors, then having a hose reel where you pull the hose away from the wall is a disaster waiting to happen.

I’ll be keeping an eye on it for sure and time will tell, but I have to say it feels extremely solid as it is set up now.

And don’t forget the weight of the water in the hose, unless you drain it before storing.
@imjoshv
@imjoshv Месяц назад
I personally always unreel the hose before turning the unit on. I also pull the trigger to release all pressure before reeling it up but there would definitely still be some water left in the hose still. However, each of the anchors has a weight rating above the weight I’m putting up. 106lbs in half inch drywall. It’s not completely cumulative but having 4 anchors spread out over the area should also increase the overall weight capacity. I will be keeping an eye on it though to test what how it does
@AnthonyEsposito-w1u
@AnthonyEsposito-w1u Месяц назад
@@imjoshv The problem is not what the anchor is supposedly rated for, it's the drywall that concerns me. That weight rating is probably shear strength, hanging a 70lb picture with the weght pulling straight down. What you have is 4 anchors in a fairly close area and the vibrating load is not only pulling down but also out. Drywall is nothing more than 2 sheets of paper with gypsum in between and you said it felt like less than 1/2" thick, which is why i said it's a disaster waiting to happen. If you had put 8 anchors in a 3sq ft area it doesn't mean the drywall could handle 560lb.

I would not trust it mounted just through the drywall, it will come down. Seen to many people mount TVs with those in drywall and have the drywall fail and down comes the tv. You should have found the metal studs and drilled into the center of the metal studs. That way your toggle bolt would be against the metal. Far less likely for the metal stud to fail compared to the drywall.

You know that you have wall studs you should mount to as moisture will eventually weaken the drywall. You can measure from the side of the outlet mounted to the stud. Stud detector and a level are a mans best friend! Looks good though.

@imjoshv great vid as always. Have a quick question. Have you ever dealt with CarPro Lift pre-wash ? I'm looking for a cheaper foam cannon pre-wash that works great. Any suggestions for that matter? My business is growing and I'm trying to go a little more cost effective while still using a quality product. Needing something not quite ph neutral because I'm dealing with a few really dirty vehicles now that I've picked up some new clients.
@imjoshv

Yea I’ve used it and it’s a great product. It’s a ph of 12 in the bottle which dilutes down to a lower ph as it hits the panel… I use a lot of koch chemie product. They have super foam which is a 12 or 12.5 and active foam which is 9 or 9.5. For me in my area active foam works even better for me. A liter of active foam is $20 so that might be worth looking into as well

Do you not have a stud finder? Did you read the below comments? Unless you had some POS do it yourself or drywall your garage there’s a 99% chance that the outlet is to a stud. But yet you move over 8 inches away from the stud. This is the first one of your post that I watched, but have you never built anything before? I wish you the best but I doubt that with the weight of your pressure washer hose plus the fact that you’ll be pulling the hose away from the wall situation will fail.

FWIW...by code, any walls that directly separate a garage space from "living area" are required to be fire rated, which means at least 1/2" sheetrock. But who knows what they may have gotten away with. Just watch that the vibration doesnt cause the anchors to loosen and lose their effective holding strength. Also, why did you choose to go with this unit over the Active 2.0 or 2.3? Just curious. 😊

@joes3689
@joes3689 Месяц назад
Nice setup! The simple solution for mounting would be to have two of the four 1/2" holes drilled through the metal stud on one side. Use the same anchors and washers. The difference in mounting strength would be much more appropriate. Both sides are best, but your holes would need to match the stud spacing. Which should be 12", 16", or 24". The best but most expensive and complex would be to mount the appropriate size piece of 3/8" or even 1/2" HDPE plastic. This would also add a waterproofing solution as well. Two 1/2" holes with the same anchors and washers into the studs on both sides (four total). Then, four 1/2" holes mounting the shelf the same way you mounted it in the video but drilled through the HDPE and the drywall. This would have a total of eight anchors and help prevent any water from seeping into the drywall. You could use other water-resistant backing plates using the same mounting method, but it probably wouldn't be as ridged or as waterproof, but less expensive. The other good thing about this solution is that it would cover at least two if not all four of the holes you already drilled. Thanks for the great content!

The WashR Pro washer was out of stock and I was assured by Big Boi that it would be available for order in May then that changed to early to mid June then that got extended out to mid July and then after late July past I asked to have a refund on the order. It’s end of August and no WashR Pro washer is available in the US. So I installed the fixed mount WashR Pro shelf/reel and installed an AR630 TSS in lieu of the WashR Pro pressure washer. It’s an awesome set up and pretty quiet of a unit. BigBoi will have to get their act together for the US market. They just haven’t been able to deliver on the core product.

Indeed I was very fortunate and because it was on my credit card got it refunded. Again BigBoi has a long way to go here in the US. The difference that I paid by going with AR is reputations, reliability and history of service that produces piece of mind from the consumer’s perspective. It’s almost October, 6 months past the BigBoi’s anniversary sale of the Washer Pro and they still have no core product here in the states. Again warranty and service is only as good as the time it’s exercised and tested and then the reputation follows. BigBoi is off to a rough start.

Josh, with the outlet that close to the water supply / washer, it would be wise to get a GFCI outlet in place of that standard outlet. The GFCI will protect you from getting electrocuted if water gets on the outlet. Slim chance of getting juiced but the odds are never zero. Cheers!
@imjoshv
@imjoshv Месяц назад
Yeah I agree 100%!! I’ll get that one switched out
@joes3689
@joes3689 Месяц назад
@@imjoshvThe outlet may already be GFCI protected by a GFCI breaker? If not, swapping out the outlet is the cheapest way, if it is the only outlet on the circuit you want protected. If the outlet is not the only outlet on the circuit and you want all the outlets protected, you can swap out the breaker for a GFCI breaker. This is more expensive but the breaker will protect all the outlets on the circuit no matter their location in the circuit. Or, the outlet you swap out to a GFCI can protect all the down stream outlets as well. (If wired correctly) But, it will not protect any outlets between the breaker and the new GFCI replacement. However, If it is the first outlet in the circuit and wired correctly you are good to go. Also, if it is a 20 amp circuit and the only outlet on the circuit, make sure you buy a 20 amp GFCI outlet. If it isn't the only outlet on the 20 amp circuit, then a 15 amp GFCI outlet will work fine. I hope this helps. Personally in your situation I would install a 20 amp GFCI outlet and install it with a in-use outdoor rated cover. Or if you needed to replace the breaker, then I would also replace the 15amp outlet with an 20 amp outlet with the outdoor in-use rated cover. This is overkill, but the 20 outlet is much better made and the in-use cover will help prevent the GFCI from tripping if the outlet is accidentally sprayed.
