I’ve been diligently working, saving and contributing towards financial freedom and early retirement, but the economy so far since the pandemic has eaten away most of my portfolio, what I want to know is this: Do I keep contributing to my portfolio in these unstable markets or do I look into alternative sectors.
@ericmccormick82

Just try to diversify your portfolio to other market sectors, that way your investment is balanced and you don’t get to make so much losses.

I’m a contractor, and my job doesn’t permit me the time to properly analyze my holdings/evaluate stocks myself, so I’ve had a fiduciary actively restructuring my portfolio for the past 7 years now to match the present market condition and that’s how I’ve been able to stay afloat, knowing when to buy and sell…maybe you should do the same.

America is currently plagued by the hydra-headed evil duo of inflation and recession. The worst part about this recession is that consumers are racking up credit card debt. In April alone, credit card debt went up 20% while rates have doubled in a year. Inflation is so high that consumers are literally taking debt for basic life necessities. Collapse has indeed begun..

About a decade ago, I worked briefly with JPM and experienced a unique benefit. Every employee who had worked for a certain period and was still on the payroll received an annual bonus regardless of their performance. It was called the “Jamie Dimon Bonus” and it was quite generous. This was in addition to any performance bonus or other benefits. I have never seen such a gesture in any other organization in my nearly two decades of work experience.

This administration is just the worst, the crises we're facing is government inspired. The Treasury have to sell Bonds to cover the trade imbalance and the government spending imbalance. In order to sell them they have to raise interest rates and the old long-term, low risk, low interest, AAA investments (including Treasury Bonds), held by the banks (often due to government regulatory policy), become next to worthless. The next milestone is the 15th when the government issue a new batch of Bonds. I have approximately 350k stagnant in my portfolio that needs growth. What is the best way to take advantage of this downturn?

The US economy and culture is being suppressed due to a xenophobic policy relic dating from 1875. We aren't running much like we were back then, why operate our immigration policy like that? If we let in all the immigrants we could grow ourselves out of the national debt in like 20 years and ensure the rest of the century in the US is doing okay. As it stands we're staring down demographic and at some point economic decline in prominence in the neighborhood of 2050, and there's of things go well. JP Morgan Chase closed the bank account of Dr. Joseph Mercola because of "unexpected activity"! No other reason given according to Dr. Mercola, who had an account with the bank for 18 years. A doctor who is respected by millions and who stood up to the pharmaceutical companies, especially over the past three years, was de-banked. What was that all about, Jamie? Many millions of us know what it was all about.

Yeah, he’s the reason most of the middle class doesn’t get the wages they deserve. I can’t even manage post Covid and only needs people in the office to feed is ego. He likes innovation because he keeps his company wrinkled with commercial real estate debt. he merge banks post gramm-beach act & keeps needing bailouts

His candidacy would flop since he is Jewish. Hate has been the winning game in the U.S. since Nixon campaign way back in 1968, ...for example Carter for reelection in 1980 and from thence forward the only way Clinton won was as a hand picked and created neo-liberal, not democratic or Democratic candidate. (All Democratic party leaders had been assassinated or cancelled by the 1992 election), Clintons are and have always been neo-liberal, (libertarian), liars. No one in power expected Obama, a black man or Hillary a Democratic woman who had been attacked for 20 years would win. /lol the monsters sometimes fail in their plans. Edit: add missing word, picked.

@@careyfreeman5056 In what way was he an architect of the 2008 crash? He ran the only bank that was asked by the government or stepped in of their own volition to rescue Bear Sterns & WaMu, while subsequently shouldering the burden of billions of dollars of legal fees incurred by the actions of those 2 failed banks/brokers. I could see you arguing that Dimon took advantage of other banks during the 2008 financial collapses, but in no way was he (or anyone) contributing to the losses as JPMorgan's balance sheet was so well-capitalized they effectively went on a shopping spree of cheaper assets as troubled/bad banks began to fail. He also advised the Federal Bank of New York during that tumultuous time, along with providing Ben Bernanke with useful data and insight. The dude is one of the most cautious, calculated, and thoughtful bank CEOs on the planet -- he knows what he is doing, why he is doing it, and who will benefit/lose from his actions.

U.S. military apparatus is unrivaled. We spend the equivalent of $2,800 per person annually toward our military budget plus additional fundings for global conflicts (Ukraine, Israel, etc.) It is remarkable that we need to make business adversaries into military enemies to continue to justify this obscene amount of military spending. It makes a fool of all of us but for few.

Hone up on Bretton Woods, cannot divorce political policy i.e. democratic principles from free trade. Dimon is right to observe social evolution in America is problematic. Need more safety nets but more importantly need to grow the middle class and not pay subsidies, and need to raise corporate tax rate.

Love Jamie Dimon, he's got a handful of legitimate points however greed blinded US to pitfalls in decades past and it could happen again because corporate America's primary aim in more money unless they are persuaded otherwise. And WWII was best example of seamless mission between state and commerce so it can be done.

This guy is the smartest person in the country. I love how he is pro America while at the same time understands the responsibility to the rest of the world as a great nation. People have a tendency to go to one extreme or the other, branding the US as either an exploiter or a country that is being taken advantage of by other countries. However, neither extremes are true.
