The Mets made a huge mistake by not making this guy their manager. He would have brought back the magic of the 1980s that the Mets lost and never got back. The Met's owner needs to realize that when players play their hearts out for their manager good things happen. Wally is that type of manager.
Arizona knew his past. Backman would have had the Mets in the playoffs last year and the World Series this year. The wizards of baseball smart are idiots. Give Backman one chance. He is blackballed because he believes in REAL baseball. Mickey can’t even get a lineup right. (Not an exaggeration). Watch playing for peanuts documentary if you don’t believe me. There is something rotten in the back offices of baseball.
Are these mooks really gunna tell us that the Mets manager is doing a better job than Wally Backman can? Please. Who's the guy with the beard and the 11 year old boys voice?
good chat... that last statement was the most accurate -- the reduced role of an autonomous "individualistic" manager is indeed bad for baseball... so, for the mets, as it has been for a long time, at least since beltran ate it at the plate: WALLY!
