Oddly, Wally didn't make a single Busch start until he had become a full-time broadcaster. Footage owned by: NBC and TNT. Footage uploaded by: Dave W, Dumindu Meegahawatte, imoon001, and KingCuervo88.
For those wondering about the bets: Benny was convinced Wally couldn't score a Top 5 in 2003. Wally said he'd wash Benny's car if a Top 5 finish wasn't achieved. Wally lost the bet in 2003. Stupidly, Wally made the same bet in 2004 and lost again.
David Land -- At the time, I don't think we even realized what an invaluable role he played in the broadcast booth until after he was gone. Ten years later and they STILL haven't found anyone even close to Benny Parsons with regards to personality, knowledge of the sport and skill with a microphone in his hand. RIP, Benny. You are sorely missed!
Benny was the best commentator. Bigger than life personality and great voice. Him and Ned Jarrett were a great combo with his excitement and Ned's calm, informative observations. Add Bob Jenkins' even keeled play-by-play and you have the best broadcast team in NASCAR history.
Yeah, Never understood why they put Weber up there as he was a pit reporter. He broadcasts a Junior win at Talladega and then all of a sudden he is lead commentator for the NBC broadcasts.
In 2016, Bass Pro Shops sponsored 3 different drivers on 3 different teams. Two (Stewart and Dillon) were in Chevies while the other (Truex) was in a Toyota.
Send Jeff and Steve to the Xfinity series so they can yell at the audience for not even being able to comprehend just how difficult these cars are and make shitty calls from their areas of expertise
They're no different than Scott Goodyear and Eddie Cheever in IndyCar. They're doing that because they've been told to do that. Larry MacReynolds did it ALL THE DAMN TIME. The networks think every fan is a dipshit who has never seen a race before.
Two things...why was there never a Wally's World with Robin McCall driving or riding along. 2.) If you can find it, post Benny filling in for Wally at Martinsville when Benny drove the car
"well, gonna get out and have a cold...pepsi" man remember the days where plugging alcoholic beverages on tv wasn't allowed? even tho you were literally broadcasting a race in the nascar BUSCH series????
That’s never been new they did they’ve been doing that literally since the beginning of time… heck at one point in like 2012 it seemed like Carl Edwards was up there every week
In 1993 Neil Bonnett crashed at Talladega in his first race back from injury, and when he was checked out of the infield care center he went up to the broadcast booth and called the rest of the race from there
Benny never liked Elliot or dale sr..ricky rudd said best ..benny only thought he was the best nascar car driver..never called richard petty the king..only said the only thing that petty won races was because he a had a big sponcer..lol
