So I got a job in the warehouse as a 32 year old home owner. The job pays 21 an hour to start, with guaranteed raises until I’m at around 24 an hour. Not only that, I work three 12 hour shifts, so I get 36 hours with FOUR WHOLE DAYS off. And they hand out overtime like candy, I’d be making over 30 an hour on those overtime shifts. Now, the awesome thing is that with all this free time, I finally have the time in my life to better myself while affording to pay my bills and mortgage. Walmart recently got rid of the dollar a day and now will pay all of your tuition and books, and they added more degrees. Im starting school on Nov 3 and this is the first time in my life I can go. This of the opportunity of a lifetime in my opinion.
That's amazing! I think sometimes people are a bit too harsh on Walmart, it has its problems but there's are much worse employers out there, they try! I hope it goes well for you!
Yeah but Ive had a ton of jobs and there are also better out there. Some people in walmarts only function is to discipline and shit on staff. Im surprised theyve survived this long seeing as how there are retail or supermarkets that DO NOT do this kind of shit. I lasted 6 months and I planned on staying a lot longer. They make me want to vomit.
I work 2 jobs like you. I quit Walmart and work for Target. Target is so much better. You get 35% off if you buy fruits, healthy foods, active wear. Everything else is 15% off.
@@tinafluetsch3688 both suck… I tried going to college and now I’m an accountant. It was hard but now I’m happy compared to when I worked at these stores.
Great video. Most people don't know that retail can actually be a fun job and you can make a career out of it. I switched to retail 8 years ago after 10 years in a regular job and my company has great benefits, pay and time off.
Thank you! And yeah retail really isn't as bad as people like to make it seem, it can be hard work and long hours but it's certainly not impossible to make a decent living
Great video very inspiring keep up the good work I am considering applying for a job at Walmart they offer great benefits employees discounts, free college, and tuition assistance.
I work at a Walmart in NE PA. I do overnights 3 nights a week. I love working there. The people I work with are wonderful. And the managers are great, they always help. They never just stand around and do nothing. The benefits are great. To many people just don’t know. Great video.
Some corrections. * It’s odd but you actually get a discount off of organic produce in Walmart. The things you don’t get a discount on is discounted items, dairy, produce, deli, cigarettes, alcahol, gift cards just to name a few. * If you work within the Black Friday time frame you get a single purchase discount of 10% plus and additional 15% which equals 23.5%. It basically means they 100%, give a discount of 10% which is 90% then take 15% of 90%.
It might’ve changed but as far as I know that’s how it’s been. You use to be able to get a 10% discount off of dairy after Thanksgiving but that has changed I’m guessing due to Covid.
Walmart is ridiculously clutch! I started working as a car attendant in August 2021 and I love it! All employees...full time, part-time, and temporary...get some type of benefits. What company that you know of does that?! Pretty bonkers!
PTO and PPTO are great but one thing about PTO is that it in NO way protects you from getting point occurrences like PPTO does so even though you use PTO you can still get fired if you already have points stacked up.
I got hired a month ago & my background check just cleared this week, longest background check ever. & I have been calling them the past few days to schedule my orientation day & they are horrible when it comes to answering the phone so should I just come in & speak to personal there instead of wasting my time calling everyday & no one answering.
Yeah it really depends on the location honestly, going in person and asking at the service desk to speak to the people lead isnt a bad idea if you're unable to get them on the phone, if you're able to go during normal working hours and just do your grocery shopping while you're there to make it worth the trip haha
As far as I know there's nothing on walmartone that allows you to cancel online but I may just not be seeing it, I would recommend talking to your people lead they should be able to guide you on the process
Hmmm, I don't believe so, but it may have changed since I worked there, it's been a few years. It applys to part time as well though if your spouse wanted to get a side job and a free degree :)
@@EconomicCockroach Ive watched a few of your videos and a few months ago you said your pay was 14 and some change. If you don’t mind saying, what is it now. I started out at 11 then went to twelve after a year, then i got moved to CAP 2 and was at 15 now im at 17.15.
@@EconomicCockroach Im 17 and had my first job at 7 and my first full time+ overtime job at 14 working 40-50 hours a week. Ive got money in tesla and they aren’t seeming to do so hot. Probably gonna sell it when it goes up a little. Walmart’s stock is much better. 😂
I actually just left for another company about a week ago, but I did DSD in the back (receiving). You might want to check out OGP they have a higher base and it's one of the better jobs imo, as long as you don't mind walking around shopping.
I wanna ask for the discount like you said it’s 90 days after but is it for part time too I start today but I wanna know how much will it take off your purchase
Great question! It is for part time as well, once you hit 90 days you will receive the card in the mail, it gets you 10% off most general merchandise, produce, but not on all other grocery or things prohibited by the gov to be discounted like alcohol, cigarettes, milk. Hope that helps!
@@EconomicCockroach ok thanks cause I got a email that to bring different sorts of paper but I yea hopefully my passport and social security card works birth certificate just in case
Legally other than discrimination they can fire you whenever they want in most states, but if you mean the job itself if you show up on time and do your job at least decently you'll be fine. Most people that got fired when I was there were people who were constantly late or missed work all together a lot
It depends how long you've been with Walmart, and if you're part time or full time. Full timers accumulate immediately and get more with each year of service, part timers after 3 years you start accumulating
Just wait at least six months and you’ll want to get out of Walmart. I worked at Walmart for 6 1/2 years and they took advantage of me. I was a maintenance associate and I did TWICE the work than the other maintenance associates. The CSMs had me take my lunch at 7 or sometimes 8 O’ clock practically every day that I worked.I finally got my social security benefits and walked off the job in the middle of the shift one day and never returned. That’s how disgusted I was. I’m going to tell you all to be careful.Walmart can be a very bad company to work for. If you want to make a career by working at Walmart go for it. But be very careful..
Funny you say that actually I left the company this month. Overall though it was a good place to work, although with such a large company not all experiences are going to be good, I'm sorry you had a rough time there.
Most the managers at my walmart store are lazy and whiney. I work frozen and they recently started making frozen and dairy associates bin their own overstock cause they dont like the cold and that its too much, ON TOP of that they still expect us to zone. They also state that the store manager is what made this decision for the sole purpose of making us see how difficult binning is.. how petty you gotta be man. Binning is in no way difficult, its just tedious. Also, WE CANNOT control how much overstock there will be. Whoever or however they order new merchandise is the sole issue as to why we get so much overstock not to mention the stupid vispicks which takes up room for the new freight coming in. HALF the time vispicks will mostly be overstock cause whoever chooses the picks clearly doesnt walkthrough to see what is actually out of stock... Okay, rant over.
Lol i believe you because the people that work at walmart seem bottom tear. Scraped off from the bottom of the pot types. All in all seems like walmart could actually be a fun job if there wasnt bottom feeders working there.
In all honesty I have cut back, but I did work 7 days straight for a while, the extra money was nice but it was very difficult to reset and it did a number on my mind so I had to slow down a little.
generally you should get one within the first 3 days, if you dont, call the store and ask the speak to the "people lead" and ask about the status of your application. Good luck!
I believe for Walmart it's anyone scheduled for at least 30 hours a week, it's very easy to get full time work there if you're flexible with the type of job
That’s good is it true that working part time guarantee me that you get no hours? I have been there for 2 years and now back to part time, is 32 hours considered part time or full time?
I’m 60 I’ve worked 35 years in factories, I would love to work at Walmart and work full time , move u the latter for more money , I’m a very hard , dependable worker ….
I got a weird schedule. They make my schedule spread any day . At day 1 , I had request for Monday and Tuesday is my day off and HR did accepted. Now they put me working on Monday and Tuesday and have day off on Wednesday. I have unstable shift. I am not complaining the company. Every place our fate depends on who we work with! I am unlucky, not sincere here. The team leader does not surprising when sees me working on a day off. A lot of politics here and other companies in America. I wonder nobody makes a friend at work! I am a patient person. I need more time to wait and see what happens to me continue.
Walmart will still pay for the semester you're currently enrolled in, and anything past that you would be responsible for if you choose to continue it.
depends on the state and city, but people greeters are gone, its now customer hosts, and you're expected to check receipts and monitor the front, you're basically security. You can call the store you're thinking of applying to and ask for the people lead they will be able to give you an exact pay figure and if theres any spots available
@@EconomicCockroach it's because the us have 100 times more cases and due to that they closed the borders cause we still are in lockdown cause Canada is more strict on this I have an interview next week for the personal shopper like picker job cause im a teen 17 years old that the only one they let me get an interview for what kind of question should I focus on and should study and like you know to do good in the interview
Don't worry too much about it. It might vary slightly from the states but it's generally just 1-3 questions about yourself or customer service and then a job offer, getting called in for an interview is half the battle. Best of luck!
Thanks for asking! I do DSD (direct store delivery) it's a backroom position, in short I audit deliveries from vendors, process claims, occasionally unload a truck with an electric pallet jack, process FedEx/ups, and a few other things :)
@@EconomicCockroach also open enrollment is going on for insurance... If you need it get it now... also one more thing. 20k accident insurance is like less then a buck.
@@ricchdaee3807 I wouldn't worry about it's just to make sure you're like a team player etc, technically there's an interview as well, but almost 100% of people are hired once they get to that stage
Ok bro.. thank you so much man I really hope I get this job at Walmart they told me to come in so they can review my application sheesh Im lowkey nervous
Just a tip as well, call 3-4 after taking it if you don't hear back, and ask to speak to the people lead, and ask about the status of your application, they like that
@@monicagross5131 they will! Once you put in your application if they don't call you after 3 days, call the store and ask for the people lead and ask about the status of your application
Don't be! For the most part on your first day you will just watch some videos from the CEO, go over information, and if there's time maybe shadow a person.
@@ItsSaix haha I try to be responsive on the channel :). And yeah you got it, OGP or I think it's ODP now, is one of the best jobs in the store. You're basically either shopping for customers orders or bringing it out to cars, the company really values you guys the most right now bc it's an important segment of the business so you chose the right job. Walmart can be a bit chaotic at times, so my advice is to accept that going in, and just don't be afraid of asking questions.
I got a job there not too long ago. Love most of my coworkers, but some of the team leaders and coaches are lazy and rude. They take advantage of new employees. Example one of the coaches who work overnight never cleans up so he force me to clean up behind him. I don’t work overnights I work 4am to 1pm ta stocking 1. Or he asks me to barrow TA scanners from claims and return them days later with a dead battery. Another team leader always have me do her job for her. Example I was zoning drinks and she asked me to do three carts of returns. She was texting and not working. The job pays good money and looks good on my resume. Plus the bosses like me.
The useful video I was looking for, thanks for the info! ⭐ I have to ask, what's the origin of your channel name? Lol did you simply find it funny, is it an inside joke, or do you like cockroaches? 👀
@@4UStevePerry you might be able to access that on Walmart one, unfortunately I'm no longer with the company, I haven't worked there for about a year so I'm not sure the procedure anymore
Hey first off I appreciate the comment! While I would definitely disagree with you on that, this video is mainly on Walmarts benefits from an employee standpoint, my review on the stock itself is here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-nXZmKkjcHgI.html. Not everyone is a fan of Walmart or investing in the company itself, and I totally can respect that, hopefully you can see my perspective on it as well
I got another job offer from Walmart, it called “ Online Orderfilling and Delivery “ position. Competitive pay/hour. I don't know who I can consult with about this position how it is?
