My stepdad was an owner operator, and I rode with him to pick up a 35,000lb load of potatoes in North Dakota, to take to the Lay's factory in Perry Georgia, and Lay's rejected the entire load, saying the potatoes were way too big. They only use a certain size of potatoes to make their potato chips. Long story short, we were stuck with 35,000lbs of really good potatoes that we had to do something with because they couldn't find anybody that wanted them and we needed them off our truck, so we found a place near a truckstop in some town that allowed us to park there and helped us make a few signs that said FREE POTATOES, and we had people taking all they could fit in their vehicles, Everyone was very happy and thankful to get them, so seeing that it made us feel better about getting stuck with them, and it only took 7 hours to give them all away. We thought for sure it would take a few days.
@@lorihartman6850 The drive time hours with that heavy of a load and gas consumption would cost the driver more to take them back rather then give them away
Once I had a load of watermelons that was refused by the receiver. Instead of tossing it, I went to a park where a lot of people were and sold each watermelon.
I've been into a lot of Walmart distribution centers & they got upset if I'm there before 1/2 hour they tell me go off there property & come back then which is really Stupid 🤔
People have to realized that just because someone clicked on a video doesn't mean they have to give a like or subscribe. I was simply interested in the title, not a plethora of videos like this in the future. Not my cup of tea and i'm sure its the same for others.
@@GeorgiaBoiithere upset that your feet are not hurting after your hard day of driving a heavy vehicle. There probably mangers or supervisors who failed upwards. I can't stand such people and they naturally hate me to.
@@GeorgiaBoii My parents always told me flip flops were dangerous to wear while driving ! It could get stuck on the petals, or get stuck behind the petals. If I'm wearing flip flops in the car I usually just take them off and go barefoot
@skilareve I've been driving 17 years and most of that I've been wearing them and they have never come off while driving. Plus flip flops are very flexible so I cant see a scenario where they would stop the pedal. I'm not trying to demean your parents reasoning though
I got low key offended when he asked if this was your first day on the job!!! I absolutely hate traffic and DC/MD is no joke! So glad to see you checking under that hood on a regular basis. I wouldn’t want to see you break down on the road either, especially since you do a lot of night driving.
I'm just trying to figure out what I'm missing with this Big Rig fascination. That's some crazy hard work, especially the Big Rigs operations CDL requirements and traffic. I drive cargo vans, and 30% of my loads I hand carry to security to sign my BOL. I get a 3000lb mountain grades brake smoker MAYBE once a month. The rest are barely enough to strap in. Gravy. No waiting. "Stay right there, I'll come to you!" 3- minutes! Per mile is the same. I just don't get it. The juice must be in that Big Rig power trip over four wheelers. Otherwise, just KISS. Keep it simple!
I drove for Walmart for 20 years. I always feel compassion for drivers that sometimes get jacked around and given a hard time when there doesn't seem to be a reason or a need. The last 20 years, I drove for Walmart, but the first 23 years were a whole different deal. The job I had just before I went to Walmart was a with a company that got bought out by your company, TRL in Pittston, Pa. I'm sure you know that I paid my dues with that outfit. A 4 1/2 day delivery of asparagus from the left coast, and Acme made me sit on Pattison Ave for another day and a half before they even assigned me a door. Not to even mention the constant knocking on the door from prospective lumpers or boys and girls with bad intentions. Then they said that all the monofilament mesh that was over the asparagus was "MY PROBLEM" not theirs. So I did what everybody else did. Backed in at the Delo truck stop and kicked the dunnage out the back door of the trailer. There was a very peculiar odor around that section of the parking lot, but I didn't want to know nuthin'. I'm sure you have plenty of war stories of your own, but I'll bet you never got a speeding ticket for 56 mph in a 55 mph zone...at 2 AM in Port Clinton, Ohio on state route 2 east of Toledo. There was just me, and him on a 3 mile strait flat road. My bird dog lit up and he turned on his lights while he was still coming at me so I pulled over and waited while he leisurely passed me and did a U- turn to apprehend me. The trooper extorted $69 from me on the spot from my Mastercard. He even had one of those old card slide printer and forms in his back seat for my shopping convenience. That was before the CDL so they could never get away with that today. In 43 years one can accumulate a lot of trucker tales that some may not even believe. But MAN, what a ride it was seeing America "from sea to shining sea", which was Hrobuchak's catch phrase. I wish you the best on your journey to look for America!
@@wtkprol Hey sir, yes, I just got hired on at walmart about 1 month ago, they take you through an onboarding process, basically a mini cdl school, pretrip, backing and driving, pretrip 30 minutes, backing allow 20 minutes, of course just 30 months of experience they require. This be my last trucking job due to my nursing, straight to the point about pay, get paid every two weeks, my highest gross so far was $4218.00, I cleared $2850, because I have insurance, 401k stuff. Trucks govern at 65, some stores a little tight, but overall good company for me.
I drive for a produce company and we deliver to that Walmart DC daily. They are slow as hell and they reject alot of good produce that we just end up delivering to somewhere else. Love your channel keep bringing that good content
Word of mouth and RU-vid I caught myself telling my cousin about you Keep your plan going and save your money and invest in your future When you’re home on break Have another money Maker Rental property is a good investment because you make money while on the road Look for things you can purchase on your route and resale later online or at home Vehicles 🚗 is one and small items you can put inside your truck You know constructive criticism from destructive criticism You answered my questions Are you married Do you have kids That’s a big difference than most drivers
Been a sub since you had 5k subs.. Love how you have grown as a trucker, and out there passing along information to other Truckers about blitz week. Your attention to detail and etc. has me motivated to get my CDL and be just like you cautious and an eye to detail etc. I normally don't comment but thank you so much for what you do and stay safe out there!!! I never see anyone else opening their hoods either as you stated to pre-trip the truck as it should be, ain't no body got time to be sittin on the side of the road waiting for a tow truck.. .. Stay safe out there girl, and keep truckin!!!!!
Hello Jasmine, maybe this why the route was available due to issues like the one at Wal-Mart. I didn't see anything wrong with those peppers. I seen those sizes at others stores. I don't shop at Walmart. I didn't like the guy trying to belittle you asking if it was your first day on job. You better recognize Slimepack when you see her. One of the nice people on social media. I truly hope you get something extra in your pay for going out of your way.
@@Slimepack392hello new to your channel in the reason is that's I have to subscribe to my trucker because if it's wasn't for y'all no foods be in the store, and plus my Nephew is a Trucker out Atlanta Georgia he have his on trucker business, got 1st cousin also there as well I knows u probably have Ran into him I don't no is Radio Names as y'all have those Trucker Name L.o.L but I just wants to say be Safe because I'm always checking on my nephew in cousin in praying for you All's again be careful in be Safe out there❤❤❤
Go ahead and handle your business fellow sister. I used to work for Rush and I absolutely love the meticulous way that you conduct yourself. When I used to walk through my repair bays, I saw some cabs that should have been marked as a biohazard. You absolutely keep that Peterbilt running clean and correct. God bless you and keep you safe on the road. Thanks for taking the time to share your work days. You are inspiring.
Hi there. Let’s GO!! Woww. Walmart didn’t want those beautiful bell peppers 🫑 😳😳 I’m so glad you cover yourself. I loved the ride along and smooth music 🎶 you were playing😌 As always, you got this. Just one more obstacle to get through. I great camera view showing the off loading. Nooo, it’s NOT your first day!!! That’s right check your load and paperwork. Stay safe out there💚
Walmart is terrible to deal with . My buddy worked at warehouse as a supervisor and he quit a good paying job there because of all of the crap would do to suppliers , shippers , brokers and truck drivers . Screwing everyone out of what was just plain BS . The straw that broke the camels back for my buddy was when a shipment of shoes came in and after the driver backed up to the door and started his break my buddy had to tell the driver to hook back up and park way out in the parking area and they would call him when they were ready for his load to be spotted and unloaded . The situation was that Walmart told the supplier that they would not pay the agreed price , cutting it by 33% . A full 18 hours later before the driver was unloaded and left that warehouse . Total BS from Walmart , the next day my buddy got to work and asked about the load of shoes and was told what had happened . They were short handed as it was as people wouldn't continue to work for them anymore . My buddy quit then and there and when asked why he was quitting he told them in a very straight forward way how sorry Walmart was and they could shove the company where the sun doesn't shine . He went back to college and is now working for a very well established finance company making well up in the six figures yearly . Best move he ever made . I can't stand Walmart and Hell I live here in Arkansas and that makes it worse and reading and hearing all of the propaganda about and coming from Walmart . When I shop at Walmart I don't handle anything out of my handicap cart basket , an employee has to handle every single item , I'm not a Walmart employee . Check my receipt , yeah when follow me to my truck . I'm Deaf .
6:05 I literally was just about to tell you, and I saw you walking back to get it 😁😁😂 21:31 I hope they paid you extra for your time .. that sucks!! As always!!! Thank you for the long vlogs... I really appreciate them🙏🏾🙏🏾
GOOD FOR YOU being a hard worker. Too many people out here wasting time and want to be in the streets 24/7, Get that paper now so you can chill when youy get older., Goodluck on your journey , health and wealth.
Why, at nearly 3am, did YT decide I need to watch someone do their trucking runs? Idk why but I enjoyed it all. Thank you for your interesting perspective and experience, this was very interesting.
Get some rest you done your best. I was cooking and jumped over to catch your video..hope you have something for that headache. I'm sending up prayers. You stay safe and keep on trucking.😊😊😊
You’ve had guide a journey, but you persevered through it. God is so good and faithful. He’s brought you safely through it thus far, and He will take you safely home. Blessings, Rev. Curtis Davis
Thats right cover you at all times whether they like it or not..Why did it have to be a question if you were a new driver? Im not understanding.. you doing your job in making sure you good for your final receiver.. Stay safe!!!
Had Ralph's reject one on me because they said they don't take cases over 80 lbs. It was 80.37 according to the case label. It was 2 briskets. Pissed me off.
They don’t want to pay the full price, for the load . Produce was sold enroute . It will be on sale in Walmart.or some competitor .welcome to produce season.🤣🤣🤣Hell no , it ain’t your first day . Tell him slime , tell him Jasmine.Tell him , the hell no it ain’t. Be careful BG . That truck stop is known for BS .🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
I enjoyed your post on getting started in trucking and the many challenges to overcome. I follow SlimePack and also look forward to following you as well. Keep on truckin! GaryDee
here's the reason why produce is so expensive....walmart wants to charge the most it can for the smallest produce to make you buy more! god forbid you pay a reasonable price for a big piece of produce and have to buy less of it.
I started out in reefer in 04 did 6 years and had to let it go..Too much sitting and waiting, and them refused/rejected produce..I remember missing 3 days of work for trying to find a place to take all that rejected stuff smh I said enough of this😂
First video I’ve watched and I really enjoyed it. Great to see a person good at what they do and handle themself with professionalism. Love those views!
I once picked up a load of cabbage from the Texas border, San Juan, TX. I had stops in Denver, Salt Lake City, Boise, and Spokane. Well, Spokane didn't want the load and my dispatch was not sure what to do with all the leftover cabbage. This shit was about to find itself in the nearest Washington state ditch when they found a buyer in Auburn, near Tacoma. I was able to visit my family in Tacoma, Parkland, and Seattle.
I could have done some things with those peppers Jasmine. I really enjoy your videos. Enjoy your time off, God bless you and stay safe. Shouts from , Germany...
Before Sam Walton died in the mid 90s, truckers were respected and parking at the gate was permitted while waiting for appointment time...I don't remember how long after his passing they changed it but from then on, we got no respect unless it was a drop n hook delivery... all live unload I had to forever... once had a 3 stop drop and spent 18 total hours getting unloaded... right!! 6 hours at each stop...SMH Target was by far the worst place to deliver to
I've always been impressed by how truckers maneuver the streets of NYC while some car drivers should not be allowed on the roads... great video Sister...be safe and good travels.
I worked at that horrible place for eight years, and yes, six, in produce. I'm sure they meant the load was too big, not the produce itself. But smart workers are a very very rare thing. I can guarantee they had room somewhere.
I know what you mean this one company I was with 7 months & let them know 2 weeks before my flight home from Charlotte NC then 3 days before my flight Dumb boss tells me I had a load going to Oklahoma & I had driven my car out there from Utah for the job I decided to take the load but then the truck messed up 5 times last time I had driven 80 miles I was in Tennessee I got the truck back to the yard & realized the spirit had told me I needed to get home so I drove my car home 🏡 not going to listen to my Father in Heaven when He tells me what I need to do
TRUST ME! It was my biggest fear but with time you get better,, Now I love backing 😂 I still have my days where its like “Ive never backed a semi before “ If you really want you CDL “GO FOR IT!”
ur channel is informative in many ways & u r good @what u do. stay healthy & calm as possible 4 when the vacation days come, I did not like the way ur finances were affected by Walmart rejecting the produce. u should be compensated for the delay in ur future earnings, schedule changes, general wear & tear on ur workday, etc. best to u in ur career & wishing u @ ur family safety.
I had this happen one time in 42 years of trucking. A load out of Tucson and Lompoc to Toronto $100 extra if I got back 12 hours early on my logs. I get back on a Sat. and I check in they take half the load the celery down stairs and later say it was frozen. It was in another country. I was young. Ended up costing me $2400 but never went to mobbed up grocers and trust them…..Damn your a beautiful young lady about granddaughters age.Good for you. Great job.
Jasmine, once you bump a dock and set your brakes , do not move your truck. I use to work on a dock way back in the 80’s and I can tell you when we heard the release of the air Brakes was our cue to safely enter the trailer.
I really do agree need to stay Safe 😮 I hurred of a forklift that backed out & the truck had pulled away from the dock a few feet & down goes the Forklift Driver & All Very Bad
Oh no no no, STOP just 4 pallets with traffic you deserve a wine and dine dinner for sure and by the way you really know how to work that camera I'm a newbie to your videos love em, please stay safe Godspeed.😂❤
the camera in the mirror (or camera) shots r so cool when seeing the perspective of the entire truck backing up. if u do merch for $$$, those images can go on t-shirts, coffee cups, & many products!
