For all those care for or suffer from schizophrenia, vitamins and minerals work. It worked for my son. Under the guidance of an integrative medical doctor, the improvement was slow; two steps forward and one step back but now almost four years later he is doing well.

@@OrthoMark No, but something very similar. I read a book by Dr. Walsh. I believe he was inspired by Dr Abram Hoffer. There is or used to be video of Dr Hoffer on RU-vid. That was my inspiration to take my son to a local D.O. for spectrocell blood tests and hair analysis and was put on a vitamin protocol. My heart goes out to those who love someone suffering from schizophrenia.

@@jeanpaultongeren125 him great question 👌 I have pernicious anemia which means an inability to absorb vitamin B12. I could have eaten loads of vitamin B12 products, which I actually was, and yet due to an autoimmune disease (pernicious anemia) I can't absorb vitamin B12 at all. So now, I have to inject a large needle into the thigh muscles weekly, or every 2 weeks.

As you said, Walsh might not have all the answers nor make the correct evaluation for everybody, but he is one of very few in the field of psychiatry who has made a tremendous effort to find the true cause of mental disorders, having had the guts and heart to search for truth. I hope others will follow in his footsteps, standing on his shoulders to find out even more in this important and interesting field.

@@AmyB1961 That would be the guys mentioned as a source of inspiration for Walsh, right? I have also found some others who have apparently taken Walsh's courses. Sadly, in the country where I live, some of the tests mentioned are not used because "they have no medicinal value" and doctors here admit that their main job is to prescribe pills. The only thing I can do is to experiment with myself, doing self-assessments and noting results. There are even restrictions for importing some substances that would probably be helpful.

@@amemabastet9055 One thing I'd add is to eat good fats, and get whole food vitamins. I guess I could also add that there are resources online that give help on how to get off meds...very slowly...which include what I call a supplement cocktail, because there are quite a few things that are absolutely needed even before tapering, that the body will need once tapering begins. Things like amino acids, for example, which eventually one can learn to get from food. Herbs can also be beneficial during tapering, but one has to be careful here, because something like St. John's Wort could wreak havoc whilst a med is still in the bloodstream. For example.

So glad that you are sharing this Felix. I am disheartened when I see how many people take medicine for mental health conditions instead of taking care of nutrition first. I could see this correlation when I found out about my MTHFR mutations and supplemented with methyl B12 and B9. My perception of the world changed. I can think clearer and I don't let negative influences in my environment affect my emotional stability like I used to. Yes, understanding the correlation can be a bit overwhelming and confusing, but research and trial can eventually lead to a calmer and improved life.

But when you know how to interpret the results correctly they are way more reliable than blood test in my experience. Great video. Thanks for this. During both the time of B6 supplementation, did you had active form (P5P) of B6 or pyridoxine hcl. Cause as I understand inactive form of B6 creates further deficiency but shows normal or high levels in blood results.
@felix-harder
@felix-harder Год назад
In theory, p5p is the recommended form of b6 for pyrolyria. That said, in practice I have also seen practitioners use p5p together with pyridoxine hydrochloride. It really depends on you and what you tolerate. The conversion of normal b6 to p5p seems to depends on magnesium and zinc levels, so you might even be able to get away with taking normal b6 once your increase those to ideal levels again.

So, since b6 plays a major role in dreaming, were you able to gradually reintroduce it to your regimen? I believe i incurred some damage many years ago by using higher dose b6 and zinc, since my sumptoms at that time were consistent with a diagnosis of pyroluria. Anytime i take b6 or p5p, within a day or two my hands will swell, tingle and throb....help.....

I don't take p5p but instead a low dose natural b complex. As for your symptoms , they do sound like something related to nerve function, which is a sign of a b6 overdose. However, I have not heard of anyone having them for so long afterwards.

How come under-methylation is caused by high folic acid and over-methylation is caused by folate deficiency? Kindly refer to the excerpt from ncbi "These studies have shown that DNA methylation might be a biomarker for colorectal cancer and that methylation of DNA in the colon and leukocytes can be increased by supplementation with folic acid in human patients"

Folates are a complicated topic. They increase the reuptake of neurotransmitters, which is why they are great for overmethylators but can backfire for undermethylators. I'll record a video on this at some point in the future.

OK at @6:20 you say you're an "under methylater because of your high cysteine" -- is that true or is high cysteine a byproduct of being an "under methylater" - I have always assumed the latter. I guess I'm having a hard time with the idea that the MTHFR gene test is useless or unimportant since not being an efficient methylater (I thought) created high cysteine. Small discrepancy but possibly important...
