Sorry I did not mean to say that, as a guinea hog IS a real pig while a guinea pig is not, but is a rodent. Guinea pigs, the rodent, are not actually pigs, but guinea hogs and pigs from New Guinea (New Guinea pigs) are.

I feel poor Flannery’s pain and frustration! I too have been recently dealing with the headaches of a f$&@ked up pain-in-the-ass bureaucracy where I live! Since October 2018 I’ve been stuck in the middle of a bureaucratic nightmare regarding my apartment. I’m a disabled individual who lives in a community for disabled people but let me tell you-these stone-age apartments we live in were built back in the days of the dinosaurs, namely the late ‘70’s! When they were built they were not built with wheelchairs in mind. In the 30+ years these apartments have been here they haven’t been updated. I’ve been here since 2002 but my health has been declining and in the last couple of years I’ve had to rely a lot on my power wheelchair. As I stated earlier these apartments are NOT wheelchair accessible. The bathroom, doorways and hall are only just BARELY big enough to fit my chair. I can no longer take baths because stepping over the side of the bathtub could cause me to lose my balance and fall. Because the doorway into the bathroom is so narrow the wall on one side has a big hole in it from my wheelchair accidentally bumping into it, despite all my efforts to be careful. Unless you use a power chair yourself you have absolutely no idea how hard it is to control an automated chair that weighs about a quarter of a ton. The doors are heavy fire doors that close by themselves and that works for people who can walk. But it doesn’t work for people like me who take more time to get through a door. I literally have to hold the doors open with my foot, especially if the door opens outward to the right. I cannot hold it open with my right hand because that’s the hand on the chair’s controls and I cannot hold it open with my left hand because it’s too far for my left hand to reach. So I have to hold it open with my foot. This is very awkward and sometimes very painful for someone who has arthritic knees. It’s made even worse when I’m carrying in groceries! So now I’ve presented my case to you. Here’s where the bureaucracy nightmare comes in-Little City (my community) received a grant to renovate eight apartments, including mine, to make them more wheelchair accessible. Sounds great, right? Yes, I thought so too. Soooo......back in October of 2018 my apartment was cleared out completely and all of my things were put into storage so they could pass their annual HUD inspection (The apartments are HUD apartments) and then start renovating my apartment. This was all done while I was in the hospital and then in rehab for about a month. I had little to no say in what I wanted to keep out of storage that I felt I might need. When I I got out of rehab just before Halloween 2018 they put me up in an empty apartment with little more than a handful of clothes and books and a few toys I took with me to the hospital. I was told, “We plan on starting the renovation right after the inspection!” I figured, “Well.......this is primitive......but I can live like this for a couple of months!” Sooooo.....inspection came and went and afterwards nothing was done. Christmas came your own and went and nothing was happening. I hardly even got to put up any Christmas decorations because my decorations had all been put into storage, which I have no access to. New Year’s came and went-nothing happening. A lot of talk and a lot of promises saying, “We’re going to start the renovation! We just need to 1) Get a permit 2) Develop a plan 3) Contact an architect 4) Contact a company with materials 5) Hire renovators 6) Have about 928 more meetings over the next 50 years to discuss the renovation plans 6) *Insert your bureaucratic delay excuse here!* Soooo.........here it is, June 2019 and I’m still in this “temporary” apartment. All I’ve heard from the bureaucracy is a lot of talk talk talk. The latest is that they’re supposedly going to start work beginning in August. I remember when our house caught fire back in August of ‘79. Two rooms were gutted and the rest of the house was smoke damaged. Yet we were able to move back into the house by Christmas of that year and by Easter of 1980 you wouldn’t have ever known there HAD been a fire unless someone told you. Our house was completely renovated within about 7-8 months. Here it is, 7 months since I was moved into this “temporary” apartment and thanks to Little City’s bureaucracy no work has been done on my apartment. And even once they start, supposedly two months from now, it’s STILL probably going to be at least another 2-3 months before I can move back in! It took less f$&@kin’ time for our burned out house to be f@&kin’ renovated than it’s taking these f$&@kin’ Little City bureaucrats to renovate my tiny little f$&@kin’ apartment! Meanwhile, I’ve watched a whole new f$&@kin’ house be built on Little City’s property IN LESS TIME THAN IT’S TAKING THEM TO RENOVATE MY TINY LITTLE F$&@KIN’ APARTMENT!! A WHOLE F$&@KIN’ HOUSE!! I WATCHED AS IT WAS BUILT FROM THE GROUND UP! AND YET HERE I STILL SIT IN THIS “TEMPORARY” F$&&KIN’ HELLHOLE OF AN APARTMENT THAT IS NOT WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE WAITING FOR SOMETHING TO HAPPEN WITH THIS F$&@KIN’ RENOVATION THAT THEY HAVEN’T EVEN F$&&KIN’ STARTED ON YET!! I CAN’T EVEN WATCH TV BECAUSE THOSE F$&@KIN’ MORONS PACKED AWAY MY F$&@KIN’ CABLE BOX GOD KNOWS WHERE IN THAT F$&@KIN’ STORAGE UNIT AND MY TV WON’T WORK WITHOUT A SIGNAL!! I’M F$&@KIN’ SICK OF THOSE MOTHERF$&@KIN’ MORONS AND THEIR MOTHERF$&@KIN’ BUREAUCRACY AND THEIR MOTHERF$&@KIN’ DELAYS!! I WANT TO GO BACK HOME-TO MY REAL HOME!! YEAH, I FEEL FOR POOR FLANNERY, HAVIN’ TO STAND BY IDLY AND WATCH THOSE F$&@KIN’ GUINEA PIGS DESTROY HIS “HOME”-THAT IS, HIS STATION-AND NOT BE ABLE TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT WHILE THOSE LAZY MOTHERF$&@KERS AT THE MAIN OFFICE SIT ON THEIR F$&&KIN’ ASSES, READING AND REREADING HIS LETTER, MAKING GADZILLIONS OF COPIES OF IT AND TWIDDLING THEIR MOTHERF$$&KIN’ THUMBS!! THEY MORE THAN DESERVED WHAT THEY GOT IN THE END FOR MAKING POOR FLANNERY WAIT SO F$$@KIN’ LONG FIR A F$$&KIN’ ANSWER! FLANNERY MAY NOT HAVE REALIZED IT NOR INTENDED IT BUT HE REALLY STUCK IT TO THOSE ASSHOLES IN THE END! MEANWHILE, THE LONGER THESE ASSHOLE BUREAUCRATS AT LITTLE CITY DELAY THE RENOVATION, THE BIGGER THAT AFORE MENTIONED F$&@KIN’ HOLE IN THE F$&@KIN’ BATHROOM WALL IS GOING TO GET AS I CONTINUE TO HAVE MISHAP AFTER MISHAP WITH MY F$&@KIN’ POWER CHAIR!!
