Hello,
And welcome to day 6 of my 1 week trip to Walt Disney World in April 2024. Today was Animal Kingdom Day! I started the day off fairly slowly for Disney standards and took it a bit easy as the days of packed plans and lots of walking were catching up on me. I got ready, spoke about todays vintage Disney t shirt and got myself to the parks around 8:30am.
I started my day with the intensions of finding as many animals as possible, and trying to track down the elusive Capybaras that may or may not have been at the park. Expedition Everest was showing a 5 minute wait however and with the single rider queue it was a no brainer so i hopped on that to wake myself up.
After the thrilling wake up being chased by the Yeti, i headed back to the Tree of Life to search round the gardens to see a few animals. While here we saw Flamingos, Lemurs, Otters, Kangaroos to name a few.
After no luck finding Capybara around the Tree of Life, i headed to Gorilla Falls to see some more animals and see if i had any luck there. I still struck out, but i did manage to see Gorillas, fish, some birds a Hippo and Meerkats however. Gorilla Falls was such great fun and i really enjoy the walking animal spots as they rarely get crowded and you can still see loads of cool animals that are no even on the Safari.
After animal spotting i headed to Mombasa Marketplace and got some peanut butter and chocolate fudge. I had been craving something peanut butter for a while so this was just what i was after. Once my nutritious breakfast had been consumed i made my way over to Pandora for the first time this trip to soak in the atmosphere and seek out some more food.
The vibes as always were incredible at Pandora and it really is a sight to see. I mention that we will not be doing the attractions this trip as i have done them many times and the wait times of 1.5 - 2 hours was not worth it for me on this trip. I mobile ordered my food from Satu'li Canteen and headed over there when it was ready. I got myself the Cheeseburger Steamed Pods, a dish i had not yet tried. I was very surprised and really enjoyed them and dare i say more than my usual order. The theming and presentation was key once again and i left feeling satisfied.
Once full of food, Kali River Rapids was a walk on so i got in the queue and prepared to get soaked. One suitably drenched i made my way to Asia once again and headed around the Maharajah Jungle Trek in hopes of spotting more animals. This walk through did not disappoint, not only was i able to see the Tigers, but got up close and personal with some birds.
After many walking trails and animals spotted, i finally got the answer i was needing. There are no Capybara at Animal Kingdom. Feeling deflated i headed back to Saratoga Springs to continue my day and pack in much more in the afternoon.
I headed over the Disney Springs and got myself in the line for Gideon's as its something i have never done and decided to take the time to see if the hype was real or not! Cookies secured, i stopped by Disney Vacation Club to enquire about the members lounge at Bay Lake Tower and booked the fireworks show for my last day tomorrow.
Excited by my new plans i headed to The Polite Pig for a spot of food as i was getting hungry once again. I got the Smoked Turkey BLT and i was delighted by how good it was and it was just what the doctor ordered as i had been after a sandwich for a while.
Once the food has gone down and i was able to move, it was time to head to Port Orleans French Quarter and get myself some Beignets for the first time! Arriving at the resort i was transported to another world it felt like and i took in all it had to offer. I headed to Scat Cat's Club and got myself the famous snack.
I was not let down as these were AMAZING. I cannot believe it has taken me this long to get some, but it was certainly worth the wait. I'm a huge fan of visiting the resorts around property and this was an instant favourite.
I headed back to Saratoga Springs and reflected on an amazing day and got myself in bed ready for day 7, the last day at Hollywood Studios.
