Being of Polish descent, this is SO my music! I so fondly remember hearing this at weddings, Polish festivals, and on Lawrence Welk's Show! GREAT STUFF!
Wow - what an exciting video. This polka band is terrific. I had to get up and dance the first time I watched it. I can't polka like I used to but it's fun to just get with the music. I love this old classic. This Canadian band is wonderful. Everyone is having so much fun - I'd love to have been there. Thank you Mike for posting this winner. - Paula
Roll out the barrel, we'll have a barrel of fun Roll out the barrel, we've got the blues on the run Zing boom tararrel, ring out a song of good cheer Now's the time to roll the barrel, for the gang's all here
@@davidgottlieb531 Lol. Yes I enjoy most country and polka music. I have followed both for decades. So have alot of memories and knowledge on both. Yes you will see many more comments. Just getting started lol.
A wonderful video featuring Canada's legendary Walter Ostanek and his band. No wonder he is the undisputed king of polka music. In other words, he's the Wayne Gretzky of polka. Thanks for posting this totally terrific video, PolkasNL. I enjoyed listening to it and seeing Walter and his band in action. Keep up the good work, my friend.
ONE OF MY FAVOURITE NUMBERS.....USED TO PLAY ON THE ACCORDION SINCE HIGH SCHOOL DAYS!! PICKED IT UP FROM MY DAD WHO WAS IN THE 'NAVY'..... AND THE INDIAN NAVAL BAND TOO AT THE "NAVY BALL"
With all due respect, this guy is Slovenian born Canadian. Same as me. This is the most infectious feel good music in the world. Anyone who reads this and cares about polka can love it as it belongs to all of us. I went to a wedding in the last year and 500 people got off their butts and polkaed their asses off for 4 hours. I didn't see grandma dansing to gangsta rap or some young child waltzing, but they both knew how to get down with polka.
Use to live on the other side of Vine St. in St. Catharines where he use to live. He lived near the corner of Hollywood and Vine in ST. Catharines. He also had a music store on Geneva St. close to downtown St. Catharines
I use to play this for my dad on the Accordian and dance as well the polka. I also use to dance Portuguese as well because of different ethnics in my family I pleased both so it was fun learning different languages, cooking different foods, and playing music.
@paboy2727 Being a GERMAN you should know about Hans-Dietrich Genscher's bet from late 80th that this song, in GERMAN called "Rosemunde" (or "Böhmische Polka"), is originaly GERMAN. Well, he lost because it's originaly Czech -- composed by Jaromír Vejvoda in 1927. Sorry.
German maybe ... but the song is Czech ... and we have the best beer in the world:) who does not know Czech brands such as Pilsner Urquell and Budweiser which replicate in America. So just like nazev.tak never drank beer. Czechs they drink the most beer in the world.
That rhythm player looks like hes got under lengthed arms with that shirt. Too bad this looks like lip-synced shit. Walter plays Polkas all night...how boring.
