+Andrew Barber Vatanen for me mate... I liked Walter Röhrl, mainly because he competed in my favourite rally car of all time but there was just summat about Ari I loved. May be it was his do or die attitude, Walter was more clinical and calculated. Vatanen and Colin McRae [in his time] just excited me more. If in doubt, flat out.

@@DAW1968 To be fair watching this he might seem clinical and calculated but also extremely fast at the same time and of course he still has it! He test drives for Porsche and this here speaks for itself - 'In Italy, he was elected "Rallye driver of the century". In France he was elected "Rallye driver of the millennium" in November 2000. A jury out of 100 worldwide motorsports experts meeting in Italy elected him "Best Rallye driver ever".'

Pilote exceptionnel, un athlète hors pair . Évidemment (et heureusement) il a retenu les chevaux. Le groupe b nous a donné un spectacle superbe, virant au mélo drame, au dépend des pilotes (et des spectateurs bien sûr). Mais je pense personnellement que ces pilotes (gladiateurs) ont eu l'intelligence et le cran de se mobiliser contre l'irréalisable, puisque devenu irréparable.

..lo dicevo proprio come battuta perchè nonstante siamo nel 2010,all'epoca del video, sembra di stare al rally nel 1985, quando era più giovane e esisteva anchero il gruppo B...a 60 e passa anni guidare ancora cosi...massima stima ;)

lets not forget what horsepower they were taming without the modern systems of now days ! Imagine a modern driver which is used to have the support of ABS , ATC or any other stability control like Active YAW control in Mitsubishi Evo for example , behind the wheel of an S1 quattro with 680 and without the experience to drive with oversteering or understeering style known as drifting also ! just disaster ! Those guys like Vatanen or mister Walter Rohl were just amazing drivers !

@MagicStick Rally cars keep the essentials of course , they discard luxury and extra weight ...you got that right , like air condition , glass windows , insulation , back seats etc but of course they keep whatever is important fot the car's performance !

rally cars nowadays have no assists what so ever. but regardless group B rally cars are still much much more difficult to drive as they had more power and less weight in comparison to cars nowadays. I’d say one of the biggest advantages rally cars have nowadays is more advanced power steering systems and much more developed drivetrains.

not true. wrc cars all must have power steering. it’s against regulation to not and also extremely difficult to operate a vehicle without power steering especially in a rally setting. also, power steering is technically not a assist as without it no motorsport would be interesting to watch as drivers struggle to push the car to its max.

@@mingscrapper9949 You are forgetting a tiny but important detail bro ...Those were not WRC's (modern rally cars participating into world rally championship) , those cars were produced from the late 70's till 80's . In fact those regulations you are reffering to must took place after Group B was terminated because of the high death toll . If you search about it back in that era only a handful of cars had power steering .

Even modern wrc cars cost too much money for manufacturers. We got only 3 car brands there. Group B-like car would cost even more and no one would participate in it because it's waste of money. Maybe for viewers it would be cool, but it's never gonna happen

Co driver: was it better with the understeering? Roehrl: yes, but not much. The shock absorbers on the front are too soft. When you go through a corner, it immediately goes straight, especially in right corners. First i thought it was only a feeling, but it's so in reality.
