@@trailtrs1 Very true, try listening to Clarence Mason Weaver. He doesn't have the intellect of them but he has the street cred and life experience from a different perspective, but yet has the common sense of them.
Wow, I just thought of things I had never thought of before. I know he has passed, it thank you to The Heritage Foundation for posting these! I'm trying to watch at least one interview of his a day. I also bought one book, as I have learned he has 10, I'm going to search for more. ❤️🇺🇸❤️
Two men whom if they did not espouse 'conservative' ideas, would be highly decorated by the press, for there are few who have done more to advance the cause of education for blacks.
I heard Thomas Sowell remark that in the old days Walter used to kid around with him and say that they should never be on the same plane together because if that plane ever went down every black conservative in America would be gone. Walter is a genius.
That would be awesome only if the liberals of all races are included on the same plane as the conservatives of all races too. None of them actually give a damn about Black people anyway. Blacks are a pretext for fighting over their own interests.
It mind boggles me how anyone can completely disregard Walter Williams and Thomas Sowell These two men are among the best analytical minds that have ever existed in America.
They're both disregarded because they don't tow the leftist liberal narrative. Why aren't either of them celebrated within the African American communities?
If you do not understand, look at what they teach. People will do what ever they need to do for their own gain. The solutions TS & WW propose are long term solutions, there are ways to go against what they teach for short term gains.
I don't think master was defending what is happening. I think he is more illustrating that taking the right path is not easy work, and the masses tend to gravitate toward the path of least resistance.
I think Biden’s recent moronic comments make it clear, at least to me: They don’t fit the black narratives hard left liberal asshats would prefer. I’m a white Canadian and I can see that shit from miles away.
+Evil Nick Add Shelby Steele, Friedrich Hayek ("The Road to Serfdom"), Adam Smith ("The Wealth of Nations"), Charles Murray ("The Bell Curve..."), Amity Shlaes ("The Forgotten Man: A New History of the Depression" and "Coolidge"). Then of course, there are intellectuals who incorporate economics in their books: Ann Coulter, Jonah Goldberg, etc.
+Marcus Bullion I knew of Friedman, but he was spoken very badly about, by leftists, so as a teenager I kept away from him, but now, Im about to be thirdy, so fuck the left and the right. XD haha
Wow! One of the best political/economic discussions I've ever heard. I started questioning my political and economic (both liberal) views in the early 90s. It took me until a year ago to finally understand why I had so much disillusionment with the status quo (Dems & GOP). I feel ashamed to only recently, heard of this man. He could have saved me 20 years of politically wasted time.
Shawn Carter I wouldn’t sweat it too much. The media has worked extra hard to keep the truth about the Democratic Party and the liberal agenda a secret. Also to demonize all white people while professing how horrible racism is without any realization of the irony. Some people are racist but overall, I don’t buy it.
I think, Shawn Carter, a lot of people in the last 3 yrs are realizing that the people of our country (USA) and Western Civilization as a whole have been spoon fed a whole lot of bull sh••! You are not alone my friend!
I love and respect Walter E Williams so much. Same for Thomas Sowell. They are full of wisdom, decency and are so sane. I would like to meet both of them. Since I am no one, that won't happen, but I keep hoping that it will happen some day. God bless both of them.
You are right, and we are all no one any more worthy of our Elohim than you. However, if we were to serve God, the Father, in the name of His only begotten Son, you will then say, "I can and will meet them, God willing." I would like to meet them as well, straight up and down, so I feel where you coming from. So let us serve The Lord GOD of Israel, the GOD of Abraham, Issac, and Jacob, keep His commandments, walk in the ways of our MESSIAH and KING, and let your faith in YAH do the walking and talking. Peace.
Attend a meeting where they are speaking and go on their sites to see where they’ll be appearing. Also write to them! They are very gracious and exceedingly approachable! I greatly admire them both!
They are also two intellectual giants the Liberal Progressives & other establishment politicians will distance themselves from because the truth in logic runs counter to Leftist & big government narratives.
Look not at intentions but at effects. Wow! “Much of the social history of the Western world over the past three decades has involved replacing what worked with what sounded good.” - Thomas Sowell
Add David Webb, Rick Scott, Candace Owens and many others are coming. The #BLEXIT and #WALKAWAY movements are going to bless America with more of these caliber thinkers. Being released from the tentacles of the democrat mental and emotional enslavery of blacks is enlightening!
Ben Carson, Herman Cain, Leo Terrell, Clarence Thomas, Tim Scott, Mark Robinson, Charles Barkley, Allen West..... and I love Charles Barkley because he is NOT afraid of saying things contrary to the prevailing liberal view. But EVERY ONE of these people are exceptional. There is hope...but the worst thing is ...the ordinary black person would call each of these stupendous individuals "Uncle Toms" and "boot licks".
I live in DC. I'm going to the African American Museum to see if Walter E Williams or Thomas Sowell are recognized in any way. If not, then this will forever change my viewpoint on the liberal black American agenda.
As a black man, when I voted for Trump, and when I didnt support kaepernicks kneeling protests, I was ridiculed by other black folk as somehow being not black. No' one wants to talk about the violence taking place within our own community. No outrage or protests, nothing. Living in the urban city of Detroit. My biggest fear isn't white racist cops, but rather my own people. And we live in fear of each other. I keep all my doors locked at all times. When I lived in the subburbs. I was used to living carefree. Now for the first time in my entire life, I am a proud gun owner. And its ashame when you really think about it.
I'm 19 and I've been listening to Walter Williams for years now. It's unfortunate but I think I may have to flee the country when stuff hits the fan. I just hope it's still possible when I finish college.
Obama took away school vouchers for black students whom were excelling in school. Their parents were livid, but probably voted him in again. Education is a farce and has to be broken and teachers who are ineffective, but can’t be fired. Teacher unions hurt students and college is a breeding ground to morally screw up their morals and they end up educated idiots whom are not hireable. Shame on the former Presidents!
Any society that puts equality ahead of freedom will end up with neither equality nor freedom, on the other hand, a society that puts freedom first will as a happy bye-product end up both with greater freedom and greater equality - Milton Friedman
@@a.gabbey5569 Freedom protects the right of the most productive people to honestly earn vastly more than average people. Economic equality is not a moral or political ideal that benefits the individual. I buy gasoline from a multi-billion dollar company, not from a dishwasher. Or can I ask you personally to drill for oil under the ocean, refine it and make it available to me 24/7? If not, then vast inequality benefits me. Communism does not.
Equality of opportunity is communism (or meaningless or impossible). Man need freedom to create his own opportunities, not opportunity stolen from others and himself to others. Man owns his own life. Man is not a slave to man.
I've always been an advocate of the free market enterprise and do wonder why Democrats criticise it. Through my research, I discovered Thomas Sowell and later Dr Williams and I'm pleased I discovered these gentlemen early. It's disheartening that some people will say blacks' underdevelopment have been perpetuated by whites whereas it's what I term the "feeding bottle mentality" that has made such undevelopment possible. These gentlemen's ideas align with human nature (we've an innate nature to be greedy) and how an economy works. I promise to uphold their ideals (which hitherto has been with me) forever.
That fact about the how Japanese Americans have virtually no representation in our political system despite the fact they r the best off economically and educationally really kills the argument that "We need more minorities in government so that things r fairer. Aka. Fair repersentation." Lol Kills it.
@@mr.m.1409 that's true. But that's not going to happen on this side of eternity, friend. You're better off just sitting pretty and focusing on keeping yourself faithful before Christ- until Jesus comes back and settle these accounts of the wicked. Cheers!🙏
I am so glad that my father taught me to always listen to people that were smarter than me, I'm pretty smart but I am not even in the league of this genius gentleman. I love Thomas Sowwel I have listen to him for years and just found dr. Williams 2 days ago. I'm ashamed I haven't been listening to him for years!
ladies and gentlemen, this guy and others have been saying the same thing for over 30 years and STILL people out there and especially in government keep making the same mistakes.
I love Dr Williams. I read his book All it Takes is Guts back in the early 80s when I was in my early twenties. His book was integral in molding my libertarian views.
Adam Ex Unfortunately, he'd never get elected for the same reason he wouldn't get elected as senator in PA, as he explained. It's because of the people's contempt for the constitution.
Australia has similar problems. Fewer people are paying into a welfare system that is being abused by increasingly more Australians. And as Walter said, if one group lives conservatively, they will miss out because the money will be given to someone and the taxes don't stop. It will be interesting to see how the NDIS goes... so much waste in a system that could do almost as much good with 10% of the budget. But that doesn't seem like as much fun.
UFC Armchair Cornerman there will never be equality I have 2 masters degrees and still discriminated against at work and get overlooked fo jobs that I am qualified for.... it will never stop because people are ignorant and choose to be racist
Octavia Manuel-Wright … Assuming you have double Masters in areas like Engineering, Medicine, Finance, or Some other STEM field, keep your head down, take what's available, and learn the skills, then start your own business... OR even better,,, a person of your Intellectual Horsepower and Education could develop a passive income from a well constructed diversified portfolio.... Industrious, high IQ, well educated people like yourself don't have to be Wage Slaves...
@@octaviamanuel-wright4899 Hi Octavia - I don't know you but based on the tenor of your comment, I am guessing that you are black, and that is the basis of the discrimination that you feel. And that is precisely why Affirmative Action programs should be discontinued - if the perception of others is that you benefited due to some element other than your own competence./intelligence/hard work/etc., and that is why you are in your current position, then they will extend that perception to cloud their views of your capabilities. It is unfair to be sure, but it is human nature to look for easy explanations.
Yet if a White Male public intellectual said the same things, they would not be praised for their insight and ability.. More likely to be deplatformed, doxed, fired, and called Racist and Nazi. Groveling and apologies would be his only chance at working in Academia again.
Just heard the news of his death, RIP Dr. Williams, I am so sad, didn't even know you, but this hurt! May the Lord comfort your family through this period. Damn, I don't even want to know what will happen when others like you are gone. geee this is so sad!
I love that quote from James Madison,"I cannot lay my finger on the article of the Constitution which granted the right to Congress of spending,on object of benevolence, the money of there constituents."
Rest In Peace Sir. You fought the good fight. God bless you sir. You along with Dr. Sowell changed my life for the better to learn how to think for myself
@KAOS NATION I think you would start to see that regardless. Cheap labor. Nothing cheaper than a machine in the sense of no complaints, wage increases, health insurance, benefits, etc. I am not sure why people do not understand this.
lol self check outs were coming regardless of employee wage. No way anyone would work for less money than what it costs to buy a self checkout machine. Even if there were no min wage and a cashier cost you 4 dollars an hour. You would still need to rotate cashiers. So if you have 5 cashiers working at a time that's 20 per hour. 24 hours a day but let's say you use less cashiers at night so 3 cashiers per hour on average. So that's 12 per hour. That's 12 times 24. Which is then 288 per day. That's 288 times 7 which is 2016 per week which is slightly over 104,000 a year. Yet one self check out machine is about 10k a machine. Yeah it was coming regardless.
Funny how certain truths, well stated, can invoke laughter. Huge belly laugh here at several points in that interview. I'd take issue with a couple of points, but only in so far as the language used walks into rhetorical traps easily exploited by the left, though I recognized and agreed with how he qualified such terminology at the time. A good man, speaking truth. God bless him, and may his beloved late wife rest in peace.
Whats up Shamballa! I enjoyed what he had to say, however my one contention, at 2:28 he says he would discriminate by race when it comes to marriage. That was weird, no one said anything about that.
This is one of my most favorite economic interviews of all time. Walter E. Williams is one of the most underrated economists of the last hundred years.
As education goes, I didn't learn anything in high school. I was shocked as a freshman to find all the classes just went over the same stuff as 6th, 7th and 8th grade. All it did was babysit me during the days. Then they would ask bad white students to quit school, and beg bad black students to stay in just to try to make the graduation rates somewhere close. That was more important than teaching .
Walter Williams right on...people contempt of the Constitution! This person does not go for take from one & give to another!!! Right on Walter Williams!!!
When I first start work 55 yrs ago my salary was 4 pound 19 shillings and sixpence for 46 hrs a wk. Paid tax on that salary, I worked hard and smart and learnt very quickly and acheived pay increase for my effort. Since then i have seen many people come on board with no experience want the boss job and pay. Will not work. Does not work.
"Bread and circuses". There are 20 different ways of saying that he he picked the most eloquent and most descriptive. I love this guy. What a towering intellect. Both Mr. Sowell and Mr. Williams have refined my views and also taught me much. They have made the world a better place.
Larry Elder is of the same mind on many of the things that Walter Williams believes and says. Mr. Williams is absolutely right about the minimum wage. A training wage was something we used that benefited both the employer and employees who needed job skills. Once a period of time passed and the trainee employees had completed training and were performing to standard, they were then moved up the pay scale.
Truly, Walter Williams is an intellectual of the highest caliber. I thoroughly enjoyed viewing Suffer No Fools. (And of course, one would have to have lived in a salt mine not to have heard of Thomas Sowell). In regard to his Proclamation of Amnesty and Pardon, he states, “I, Walter E. Williams, do declare full and general amnesty and pardon to all persons of European ancestry . . .”; however, he fails to pardon the Africans who were the slave vendors, as it were. As well, to this day, the slave trade is still alive and well in Africa.
I cant believe I've never been I troduced to these ideas before in school, media, news, government or church. Thank you for this AND for the evidence given!!!
Clearly a great thinker and a wise and astute man. He is a National Treasure and one of America’s great ones. He and Thomas Sowell should have ran for the office of President/ Vice President. Any thinking person who loves freedom, Liberty and prosperity would have voted for them. Godspeed my Brother!
10:30 exactly its called competition and its needed in america. people would hire more teenagers at 2 to 5 dollars an hour because most on their cellphones and not paying attention anyways.
The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and hoping for a different outcome Thinking men like Thomas Sowell and Walter Williams doesn't suffer fools gladly
I'm not exactly a spring chicken but I found myself listening a bit like one to this very enlightening conversation as Walter spoke with powerful gentleness like the uncle I never had. I like him and more importantly, I like what he says. Thanks Walter, good man!
Lex Conor I’m a black conservative and this is literally the first time I’ve seen or heard of him. I only started listening to/reading Sowell during the Trump presidential race. These guys have never come up in any discussion I’ve ever had in the last 30 years so frankly I don’t think a lot of people know who he is. I’d also like to point out that black Americans relationship with the leftist agenda is not as the MSM would have you believe.
@@TULIP.1689 Your comment was a needed breath of fresh air! Enjoy your newly-discovered treasure. May they replenish your arsenal on dark days, and bring renewed hope for this stumbling nation.
Lex Conor it was really my love for Christ and the truth that allowed me to see the error with the progressive agenda. The heart heartedness of its adherents is sickening and I couldn’t stand for it anymore. Just yesterday someone in a checkout line compared Donald Trump to the anti Christ and expected my to laugh and grin. If these people think Trump is ultimate evil they are delusional.
wow. blown away. sigh. this actually makes me feel passionate again. the truth is amazing. sometimes, you think you're never gonna hear it again. this country is an amazing place that rears amazing people. this man is but one example.
Wait, so based on that Williams says about the Davis-Bacon Act, minimum wage was essentially an extension of Jim Crow Laws? I wonder how many black Bernie supporters know this?
We live in an Orwellian government today...it's just not as obvious as that book. Left is right and black is white...up is down, and freedom is slavery. Liberals in the Democratic party simply don't value liberty...they are opposed to their very labels.
Ekoth I studied social sciences and find what he says absolutely illiterate myself. As for Pricing out of the system. That's a tactic used first in housing. His idea that black students are at 7th grade levels is something pulled out of his ass. Where did he obtain such data? Why do they have a different account? That's like crime rates they always lie about.
Lonnie Dobbins III. Of course your criticisms are based on all of your advanced education and experience equivalent to Dr. Williams. Criticism without facts and evidence is the same as ad hominem attacks. Dr. Williams, Dr. Thomas Sowell and hundreds of other Economists base everything they say and write on evidence, research and experience, not emotions like you.
An interesting story about Dr.Williams:During President Reagan's first presidency he actually approached Dr.Williams for education secretary. Dr.Williams stated he would take the job only if he would be allowed to dismantle the entire system & rebuild it anew. Naturally, he was politely passed over but he certainty made his point. That's our man.
Exactly. Americans used to know pride. And shame. The Left has done a fantastic job of destroying these principles. They've achieved it by convincing people that their lot in life is neither their fault nor even in their control. We're all victims. Victims both of circumstance and other groups. This has all been done with purpose and malice in order to consolidate power so it can be leveraged against the very people they've manipulated into the grievance industry.
To late. We used to hate it because we had a sense of pride and shame. The Left has destroyed those notions by convincing most people that their life isn't their fault; they are all victims of someone or something so we don't need to feel shame for taking handouts; it's owed to us
Regarding when he mentioned his discussion with Thomas Sowell and how they both agreed the only good part about being old is they won’t be around when society comes crashing down. They weren’t talking about the economy crashing. They were talking about a civil war. Sowell already mentioned his concern over civil war a couple times. Very smart guys. Want to bet against them?
"We do not improve the lives of the poor by removing their options" - Tom Woods Whenever i hear about minimum wage, mining in Africa, child labor in Pakistan etc etc, i always try and think of that line. A higher minimum wage means less jobs, businesses going broke (like restaurants etc) meaning less taxes, less job skills etc. Mining in Africa i wonder how bad their other options are and what will they do when they lose their jobs to please well meaning liberals. And how when they outlawed child labor in Pakistan due to western pressure, the British Red Cross discovered that child prostitution increased, orphanages were overwhelmed etc. And they had to repeal those laws cause of the damage done. I like the ask the left why do they think they can make better decisions for a stranger than that stranger can make for themselves?
Mental challenges. My brother is down syndrome. High functioning, so he is able to work. However, due to Downs, he cannot get a "better job". In his case, you're saying that he shouldn't be able to earn a living wage? He doesn't have a ton of options, also he has diabetes, and needs Healthcare to not die daily.
An incredibly intelligent and insightful, intellectual gentleman. Listening to him during these times in June 2020 especially. I feel like I have learned so much. Thank you sir. We need teachers like you. 🙏
At the end, the interviewer stated that the Constitution prohibited women from voting. False! The Constitution provides that the qualification for federal voting shall be, in each state, the same as to vote for the "most numerous branch" of the state legislature. When Wyoming was admitted to the Union, they were explicit: "We won't come in without the women."
Can you imagine Professor Walter Williams and Dr. Thomas Sowell on the same stage? Two of our greatest Americans. Its nice to know they are good friends. His remarks about providing equal opportunity to women was a riot! He is brilliant and funny!
