Bro you hit the nail on the head with this comparison. I'm a die hard p320 head but just purchased the pdp 3months ago, I put approximately 1000 rounds through it with no hiccups. That PPQ trigger, I'm going to go on the website and purchase it. This pistol is fire. I shoot both p320 and G19 and this PDP is the truth. Great video!
Good review and counterpoints for each. The folks at Walther designed the PDP to be interchangeable with a lot of the PPQ parts. That's one of the reasons I opted for the 4" compact because it takes all my PPQ mags and will run the threaded barrel from my PPQ Navy. They also opted to use Glock-type standard sights on the PDP so aftermarket sights are plentiful if you need suppressor height sights to co-witness with your red dot.
I have a 5” PDP I got in June 2021. Too large to carry but have over 2000 rounds through it. I also have a compact P320 chambered in 40 cal. I like both and they serve different purposes. Love the modularity of the P320 but it’s so fickle with re-assembly etc. it shoots well and handles recoil really well. That being said the PDP runs circles around the P320 - better look, feel and ergonomics. The trigger comparison is laughable. If I could only choose one (full size or compact P320 v full size or compact PDP) I’d choose the PDP - it’s no contest IMHO
There are no (zero) issues with carrying the P320 as an EDC. The model, as many other models have when introduced to the market, had some growing pains but this pistol series today is a great choice for EDC. The Walther is also a great choice I just wanted to challenge the comments that there should be concerns on the P320 because that data in incorrect as SIG has made all necessary changes to alleviate any issues that the P320 may have once had. That said I loved the information and the comparison of the two firearms.
That's fine. I appreciate differing opinions. I have some information that I may one day disclose to follow up on the reasons why I'm hesitant for continuing its use as a daily carry. But I don't want to detract from the review, and let the courts do their thing. Having said that, I do believe that Sig Sauer (like Glock) will do the right thing to alleviate my concerns. I'm just not QUITE there, yet. ;-)
Agree. The “issues” and law suits are for earlier models experienced discharges when dropped. SIG corrected this issue. I own the PDP and have the same trigger setup with Holosun 507c x2. The apex tactical is actually a very nice trigger but the shooter better be a LE to exercise some extreme discipline in a shoot/no shoot scenario due to how little take up there is in the trigger. I’m switching to Sig P320 XCompact soon.
Dude..it’s like you made this video for me! I’ve loved my 320, but it’s time for a change. The Walter PDP Compact seems like the best option. I carried the PPS for a while too btw. Mine was the m2 though. Thanks for the vid brother!
Fantastic video man I have a very similar setup PDP compact with a Holosun 507cX2 and a Streamlight TLR-7A Flex. Everything you said is exactly my experience. It is my first Walther pistol and I am very impressed. I've been running it as my EDC since March 2021 and it runs like a sewing machine. I'm well over 1,000+ rounds with 0 malfunctions. PS. that Sig P320 is sick. I also have a soft spot for SIG since once owning a P229 that was very influential to me setting a quality standard.

I think both of these are excellent pistols! I have just over 1000 rounds through my P320 without a single failure or hiccup. What sold me on the P320 is it's Modularity and Flexibility. Safe/No Safety. Caliber, Barrel, Slide, and even the Grip can be changed. It is basically the AR15 of Pistols.
I LOVE my Walther PPQ, which by the way has been discontinued by Walther ARMS. Doesn't make any sense. The Walther PPQ is very accurate right out of the box. I have never had a gun that shot this well. So, I'm very happy with it. Now, Walther has the Walther PDP-F Series on the market. I will be getting this new model because it's Optic Ready and I have small hands. I'm also going to be buying this for my daughter. With that said, GO Walther Arms. 💯💯😁😁👍👍
I’d honestly want a slight take up. Me personally. For safety & muscle memory expectation of when the trigger will break. I got a Pdp. Fantastic gun. Walther is criminally underrated.

Late to the show, but you're not the only one that ran into this issue. I had an M18 which I loved, but ran into some serious reliability issues that Sig dismissed. I went to the PDP and never looking back, one thing I would recommend is getting a metal guide rod though. After about 800 rounds my PDP plastic one broke, Walther offered to replace it no questions asked, but I just feel more secure with a metal one now.

On that particular video I had the standard medium sized p320 grip module but was custom stipple. In the next video you'll see another Sig Sauer grip module with different stippling.
Nice comparison. I too have reservations regarding the P320 at time but only carry it in the 3 - 4 o'clock position when working in the gun store. PDP I can trust carrying it appendix. Both are good firearms, accurate etc.
I appreciate this video. I just bought the Walther PDP 4 in" compact. Been 3 weeks and I'm still waiting for the optics plate from Walter which they claim has been out of stock. My Holo Sun 508T has been sitting in the box. Really disappointing of Walther. But other than that this has been a great gun - shoots extremely accurately using the stock sites. No complaints except I wish they would have included a variety of optics plates in the box like other manufacturers. Thanks for the video!
@@JJ_SDWR Yes took about a month and 2 calls to customer service. Gun is amazing. Incredibly comfortable to shoot and very very accurate. Was worth the wait.
After having bad experiences (light primer strikes)switching my trigger to apex trigger on my m&p 2.0, i will neber change my trigger components ever again.
I love your setup on the pdp! I just bought the same holosun 407k for my pdp compact , what optic plate did you go with? Is it from walther or is it aftermarket?
From what I understand, the P320 problems with inadvertent discharge are due to certain holsters that catch the trigger as the pistol is being inserted into the holster.
Thanks. I hadn't heard that. I think there was an issue with dropping discharge but that was supposed to be addressed. I think I will have to research some more. I am seriously considering the Canik Elite SC. I have the Rival and am very pleased all around.
I'm about to buy my first gun and this two are my options, but I just love how the P320 M18 looks and I believe that sig fixed the issues that the p320 had a couple of years back. But I haven't been able to fully confirmed it so I don't know if I should stay away from the Sig or not.
I wouldn't necessarily stay away from Sig Sauer altogether, just not sure if it's the right choice right now concealed carry until the issues are at least investigated. They went above and beyond for the M17/18 series because the military saw what was happening and wouldn't continue unless it was ALL corrected. So I still like their products
@@That-Will-Do-It I just upgraded my PDP with Walther's performance trigger. It's probably the best factory trigger upgrade to date and beats a lot of other drop in choices. I believe they are coming out with a PDP pro that already has this as well.
I have Werkz Holsters for both. I've only concealed the p320 in its compact grip frame. But is was slightly better than the PDP. But I could draw and focus faster than the P320 from the holster a full .4 sec faster with the PDP
@@ryanmfoto what "tests" are you referring to? We went by more of a personal impression, as the sig trigger was also an Apex trigger. This wasn't a stock to stock trigger comparison.
My balor is on my PPQ I bought a PPQ because I'm a lefty and I have three pistols and I switched the magazine release button for left handed I don't need to move around to push the magazine release button on my PPQ it's prefect for me. I have a question what's your carrying ammo?
In this video I used the Olight BALDR Mini2 for my 4", and MIE Productions makes one. In my next video, I'll show when I've switched to the Streamlight TLR1-HL light with a Holster from WERKZ. My wife with her new PDP F-series 3.5" is now using the same Olight BALDR Mini2 and the same holster
Took a paint pen and went over the lettering. Let it dry, then used nail polish remover and a cotton ball to get rid of the excess. Works well after over a year of use.
I used a Stenos marker pen to fill in the spaces , waited for 10 min. Then used nail polish remover and a cotton ball to wipe away the access. Did the same to the magazines, too.
Yes. Skate board grip tape to be exact. I Had to also dremeled down the internal of the holster. Careful. It's hard on the fingers. I'm getting the pistol now professionally cerakoted
Why do you have grip tape on the right side of the gun when you are right handed. I understand the reason for it on the left side of the gun as you explained, but why the right side? My $.02 worth and I'm just a dude. Silly.......

All of the negligent discharges with the P320 have occurred in just a few ways. One: being carried off body in a bag, in no or poor quality holster. Two: being used in a holster not designed for the firearm in question. Three: figit holstering the firearm, i.e. repeatedly holstering and unholstering the firearm.
You have to select Walther PPQ first, then in the notes field when you're about to purchase you put in there that it is for a PDP. MIE PRODUCTIONS hasn't updated their site. You can also email them through their website first to confirm before going through the order process.
I wouldn’t believe the lies your being told about the 320. I have yet to see a video of the gun firing by itself without anyone pulling the trigger. All the cases your referring to are due to poor weapon handling by cops who are poorly trained. How is that the guns fault people are idiots ? I wouldn’t not carry a gun because of other people. I’ve had my 320 for years its. Never gone bang by itself. You can believe what you want though
So you complain about sig safety and out lighter shorter aftermarket triggers in both guns. An observation as I don’t have a dog in the fight. But I won’t be listening to you.
I'm not quite sure is this a review about the Walther PDP or all the stuff attached to the PDP or the reviewers personal opinion which is absolutely worthless because each individual is different watch Consumer Reports and learn how to do a product review about the product itself. Not all the other BS that you're throwing out there
