Being a 6' male with "normal" hands, I picked up the F series at the gun store, and it is very comfortable. The salesman liked the grip better than the regular PDP. Not for females only.

Good to know as I would have likely bought this, already owning a PDP compact, vs buying the P365 I bought last month along with changing out the grip & starting that new mag buying process 😐 Must say though the P365 with a Wilson Combat grip module feels great. I bought my wife an XDE for Christmas a couple years back but what a terrible trigger vs other guns we have.......thinking this gun will replace the XDE.

Yea its a bad marketing move to say F is female version. Held both and likely if looking for a gun, already have my 9mm so yea. Id pick the PDP F most likely. Think about it, many have moved to the Shield Plus, Walther CCP, SIG P365, Springfield Hellcat, and guess 43x with aftermarket magazines. Trend of all on the list is smaller grip for conceal. Meaning adapted to shooting them well. If needed add some grip tape.

I'm a 6ft2 man and my hands are large. The way the Walther PDP F-series comes out of the box fit my hand perfectly and it also has the ability for my wife who has much smaller hands to be able to hold and reach the trigger comfortably. Honestly it's a good pistol all the way around. The F stands for finally. A gun booth my wife and I can use together.

My sister-in-law tried many semi-autos, she finally decided on the M&P Shield EZ 9mm. Mainly because of the grip size and being easy to rack, she shoots it really accurately and it fits her smaller hands. This F series would be a great improvement, with the higher capacity.

My wife’s carry is the 380ez and it’s the smoothest shooting gun I’ve ever seen. If it didn’t have lousy 8 round mags I would carry it rather than literally any other gun. I love my PDP compact but it is a heavy brick still and I wear drawstring shorts a lot and it’s just to heavy for that

I'm 6ft and tried one today at the store, and it felt pretty good. I'd like to try a larger backstrap to see how it feels, but I did generally like how the less rounded grip felt compared to my regular PDP. If I could do it over again, I think I'd do the 5" PDP for my full size option, and this one as a compact option. I would also put a DPT trigger with sprinco springs in this gun as well, as I much prefer it to the stock trigger now that I'm used to it.

I have an old injury to my trigger finger as well as arthritis in both hands. The first time I held the PDP F in my local gun store I couldn't believe how easily I could hold it. The trigger break was amazing and the short reset was equally amazing. I was comparing this pistol against the CZ P-01 and because of my injured trigger finger and the difference in size of the P-01, it was a reach to put my finger comfortably on the trigger. The PDP F is definitely on my Christmas list.

I do wish I could have seen her use the mag release though. I own a Beretta PX4 which I really like. But with my small hands, I’m right at the limit for the DA trigger reach - and not even close to the mag release. I ended up finding a great PDP full size 4inch, and the gun is great , I shoot follow up shoots so much tighter than with any gun, the trigger on the Walther is so much better than the Glock. I've owned several Walthers, and it's notable to me that they don't like steel-cased ammunition. I ran 900 rounds of Brown Bear 9mm through my original PPQ and it had maybe 20+ failures (which is a lot for a modern handgun). My second PPQ likewise was not a fan, and my PPS M2 also chokes on steel-cased ammunition, etc. While not a deal breaker for me (particularly now with the Russian ammo ban, and the lack of super-cheap 9mm steel cased ammo), it's something I definitely noticed.

The Walther PDP and PDP-F series are duty pistols and have more felt recoil when shooting it slow. On faster shooting drills the return to zero is absolutely amazing and one of the best pistols out of the box in this scenario. I own the F-Series 4 inch compact and its one of my favorite pistols to shoot. As a duty weapon Walther came spot on with what is actual wanted and needed on this pistol. Best serrations by far on a slide, excellent positive magazine release, fast return to zero (Aim point), and great ergonomics/grip. Optic ready and adjustable rear site. Quick take up to break point, short reset, and just an absolute beast of a pistol for shooting accurately at speed... Best recent purchase I've have made in the pistol market.

Would you recommend the 4" F series for CCW? The smaller 3.5" seems like the better choice but unsure I want to give up the better sight radius of the 4". Maybe a 3.5" CCW and a 4.5" PDP SD Pro for HD/comp is the way to go.

@Toddzilla1967
@Toddzilla1967 Год назад
@@zorbaseatery4745 did you make a purchase? FWIW, I don’t think 1/2” in frame length is going to be a deal breaker for CCW since all other pistol dimensions are equal. I bought the 4” version three weeks ago and I’m switching to OWB. The Urban Carry Lock Leather and T.Rex Arms kydex holsters work pretty good and they’re comfortable. But concealability isn’t quite as discrete as I’d like it to be. I do love the pistol even more after installing Trijicon GL01 tritium sights on it. The trigger and ergonomics out of the box are just fantastic.

I have tried the PDP F from the rental fleet at the local range a couple of times and it does feel good in the hands, but when shooting it doesn't seem as pleasant. Length of pull is weird and my trigger finger has to adjust in order to not pull shots. I am gonna get a regular PDP in compact version instead. I did however just run another hundred rounds through the PDP F again today and it is kinda starting to grow on me. Probably have about 300 rounds through their sample now. My grouping with it is certainly getting better. Might have to consider one at some point.

We may review a 4" if we get pur hands one one. Winchester White Box is fairly low grade and can be inconsistent, I've even found the wrong projectile in one. Graham Hello, my best wishes always and super satisfied with all your honest reviews .. always informative and honest . We all here will love to hear you opinion or experience with the new Walther PDP PRO. Just want to confirm an honest opinion about this gun and the new this new trigger . I have the PPQ Q4TAC and will like to know if it’s justify to take a serious look at this new PRO . All will depend if it’s a huge difference in accuracy and performance over PPQ Q4TAC and my Walther’s PDP 5 inches full and 4 compact . Thanks ... again

I talked to Cody @Walther when the PPQsc was release about how I felt you needed to slam the magazine to get it to catch when loaded +1. His answer was yes, that's right. Sounds like the same here. I have been asking about the PDPsc release date since the inception of the new model. I guess the answer is it will never be released. PS on the nickel (or zinc) plated steel cased ammo. It seems to cause more problems than regular steel.

We've encountered two issues with it, both were loading errors at the factory. That's about on par with what we've seen from the major manufacturers as they've all been turning up the speed to meet demand.

what would you say is a good round for training for this gun and what would you say is a good home defense round for this weapon? Also, you mentioned that the +p rounds are not necessary for the gun in the last video. Would you still say that is the case? I bought the 3.5 inch f series. I want to know which rounds would be better for the health of the gun. Also is there any issue with the barrel being shorter than 4 inches? Perhaps I should have bought the 4 inch f series instead
@GBGuns
@GBGuns 2 года назад
Most ammo (but not all) is designed for a 4" barrel. The risk with shorter barrels is that a hollow point might not get the speed it needs to perform properly from a sub-4" barrel. You should be fine with most of the ammo available today, I don't think +P is necessary. If you're concerned get defensive ammo labeled and designed for compact guns. For range you'll be fine with most any ammo.

@@GBGuns Thanks. Would you say that the 3.5” would have a tendency to be less reliable (based on your comment on hallow points)? I have to wait a few days before I can pick it up (per state law) but I already bought it as my first gun. I guess I just feel a bit anxious that I may have made an uninformed choice
@GBGuns
@GBGuns 2 года назад
No reliability issues at all. The ammo thing is just for "as intended" results with hollow points. Millions carry 3" guns, they just are less effective. It's better to have a gun you can carry than no gun at all. If you'd like to learn more about +P ammunition I wrote an article about it on GBGunsDepot.com

On average, a man’s hand has more mass. Bigger bones, more muscle and more connective tissue - which all helps in mitigating recoil to an extent that females feel shots more acutely, than men do. Complicated by smaller hands and shorter fingers making proper hand and trigger finger placement difficult or impossible. Walther should be commended on their attention to this problem and for their offer of a solution!

There’s no such thing as ‘the perfect gun’. It’s what suits the individual that matters. Male or female. If you ever have to draw a gun to protect yourself all that matters is that it goes bang and hits the target. The small differences between guns in the same series is almost irrelevant.

@HotVoodooWitch
@HotVoodooWitch Год назад
@@believe722 photos of the non-F-Series PDPs, including the Compacts, all seem to indicate similar length of reach when compared to each other. Walther's specs for the Compacts both show 5.8" grip circumference with the medium backstrap, as opposed to 5.5" for the F-Series. The reach on the F-Series pistols looks markedly shorter, probably because the specs indicate that it's 2.56" as opposed to the Compacts' 2.76" and 2.8" (5" vs. Pro SD).

How's the recoil compared to the CCP M2 9mm? I've shot the CCP with no hand and wrist pain so far. Haven't shot more than 60 or 70 rounds at a time tho. In comparison a Glock 19, I think it was anyway never checked. It was a Glock and gave me significant wrist pain the next day after one full mag. One of my shooting hand fingers was broken, never had it fixed, also hurt for a day. The Glock ammo was Remmington. The CCP was garbage Aguila 115 grain. Horrible ammo for the CCP btw.
@GBGuns
@GBGuns 2 года назад
The CCP is a softer shooter than most Browning-action pistols. The saving grace on the PDP F might be that it's broader and so distributes recoil across more surface area.
@foxmulder9240
@foxmulder9240 2 года назад
@@GBGuns Thanks for the reply. I asked a rep from Walther to compare the CCP and the F. He just said there's no comparison on recoil and ease of slide operation. They are 2 different platforms. No, really? He obviously knows nothing about Walther guns. Don't they make instruments that measure every aspect of a pistol? I recently saw a trigger pound tester used by someone on RU-vid. I know you can tell the difference in recoil because you tested different ammo w/ the F. I tried 124 grain Magtech in the CCP and I noticed more recoil. I guess I'll have to buy an F and return it if it hurts my hand.
