I actually had someone freak out when I poured water on my drum. It was funny, but still, she didn't let me tell her that the instruction DVD th at came with mine actually showed how to do that. *shaking head* Thing is, the tipper that came with the drum was waaaay too small for my hands...yeah, I got big paws, so I went down to the Puget Sound and found the perfect piece of driftwood and it works perfectly. :D

Bought my Walton Irish 🇮🇪 Bodhran drum 🥁 30 years ago whilst youth hostelling around the East Coast of Ireland. Lovely drum. Sat in on a few sessions never done much to it over than a bit of dubbing on the playable side and a splash 💦 of Guinness on the inside to lower the bass tone sláinte 👍

I bought a bodhran years ago. It has never been used, but the top has become dirty. Will the water be enough to clean it, or do I need a "cleaner"? Thanks

Thanks, had mine tuned too tight, was pressing too hard on the skin and had a hard time keeping it on my leg. I need to get some conditioner and tune it properly.

He leaves off for his squire to do as would any troubadour of worth. He's probably on the road as we type. Me, I found it very helpful as I'm new to the bodhran and have one with no tuners. I may even try tape as well. But I'll give the water a go first. See what that does. I imagine the creme would make tape impossible to stick. I've not done any of it so we'll see. Thoughts? My question is how does one change the head on one of these with rivet looking nails and a band thin of wood to make it tidy?

I recently purchased the Trinity Bodhran - Waltons and since I live on the West coast of Canada (humidity is high) tend to find the low pitch really quite nice. However, I have noticed that when I set the drum down on the table, a resin in the shape of the drum seems to be left behind. I am wondering if the inner side of the drum should have some saddle soap applied?
