The many dialects of luo in Uganda, South and Anyua in Ethiopia are very traditional unlike the Kenyan luo , who are so modern and the culture diluted by their neighbor cumminities. In Kenya there's always this competing between the Luos of Siaya and the greater south nyanza for who are the pure luos. But from what I get from Peter's interaction, Jo siaya is closer to jopadhola and Jonam. Meanwhile, Peter look for Irene Ayaa TV. She's an Acholi from Pajok in Southern Sudan. She's having a great effort like your program to make all of us understand our various dialects. Such that when we move around among our various groups we need not translation but let everybody speak theirs but we all understand. I am wishing you the very best in your pursue of our greater LUO across Africa.
Thank you again Woudnam on a beautiful presentation. I can see your channel growing which is wonderful. Business plan is required. Luo keaders in each county/country need to support this journey. Its for our kids. 😊
You’re welcome. Help me share the content widely. I need more luos on board. And ofcourse support will soon be necessary because it’s getting bigger than I imagined.
The power of research and observation! K'Ogot is more informed than those two Ugandan journalists. K'Ogot knows more about Luos in Uganda than Ugandans!!!
Thanks for the great work. However I suggest that you also try to get to Zombo where the Alur King is. You have managed to interact with Pakwach and Nebbi, Zombo can close it up for you with moer clarity on the Alur as in Uganda.
This is much fascinating Mr Kogot. I feel elated when I here my brothers and sisters else where talk like me with little dialect difference. Keep it up.
Great great job my brother I love what you are doing my brother. Try as much as you can to see these ethic groups all yearn to know love and accept each other no matter the geographical location thanks brother am proud to be a luo and am proud to hear of my brothers in Uganda tororo 27:01
Not the fish. Both languages are atonal. This contrasts with remarkably tonal Bantu languages like luGanda, kiDigo, eke-Gusii, siZulu, or kiKamba. English and dho-Luo have similar consonants, vowels, and many words that end with vowels. Words such as Bet, Par, An, In, Wan, Bed, Tol, Thing, Got, Wich, Pat, etc, inter-weave both languages in terms of spelling and pronounciation. Just a linguistic coincidence. It is possibe for Luo speakers to borrow English words like "glass", "balance", "plan", "break", and "syllabus" and apply them without change, unlike the Bantu speakers. On the other hand, Kiswahili and some Bantu speakers would find Italian and Japanese very easy cos of distinct syllables and many words which must end with a vowel: Italiano, Arsenali (Arsenal), etc.
The real Luo Nilotes are in Sudan and Ethiopia. Kenyan Luos have been intermarrying with Bantu tribes like the Luhyas for a long time, making them more Bantu compared to the Luo Nilotes in Sudan. An average Luo person in Kenya is more Bantu than a Nilote. The only true Nilotes left in Kenya are the Maasai, Kalenjin, Samburu, Turkana, and Iteso. The only Nilotic element remaining in the Luo of Kenya is their language.

I'm Haitian by birth with roots in Africa, though I'm yet to make a trip to Africa. My fraternal grandpa hailed from a place called Siaya. I believe it's in Sudan/Ethiopia, thereabout.
Wow! It's by fate that I bumped on to this channel in my quest to find more about my family tree. Do you speak French? I feel comfortable conversing in French as English is a third language.

To the female presenter, with due respect, please kindly get rid of the wig and present Luo in a natural way. There is absolutely nothing wrong with your hair. You can still manipulate it in many and make it look nice without wearing or carrying additional things on top of it. It is really embarrassing. Please note: Whatever is published online in this digital era goes worldwide. Nonetheless, it's a great program.
@@bernardgwendo7233 that was a comment for the bringing confidence in the natural look. I have seen these girls trying hard but it looks like they feel inferiority complex, wearing trausers, trying to be like white or Western women, it is about time we tell them they are beautiful as African ladies, Lwo/Luo garments, present to the world.

FREE ADVICE: Being a proud people is ok since it shrinks inferiority complex. Luo dances and nights are OK, but should be strictly a beginning of something larger. Fetes, and dances power adrenaline, but beyond a point, would breed a bunch of clowns. In a modern and competitive world, the pride fetes and fests alone will not give traction and mileage. One may ask mockingly and with justification, PROUD OF WHAT? The Sputnik make Russians proud. The Volvo makes Swedes proud. The Bajaj motocyce make Indians proud. Kikuyus of Kenya have business acumen and a good millionaire per capita. Some Indian clans in Kenya have the MP Shah Hospitals, yet others have the Aga Khan cluster of schools and hospitals . These achivements are "brainy" and concrete and place a community in better stead than simply wearing suits, dancing, riding volvos, drinking French wine, etc, Think think think, outside the cuiture box, your future hangs on it.The Luo nation needs a vision that stands in the past, grasps the present, but is future and modernity responsive.

@@vincentomondi2153 We cannot and should not try to change people's ethnic group to become Luo/Lwo by this so called assimulation. Lwo/Luo are 12 tribes of Israel, you cannot change some people's ethnicity to become one of the 12 tribes - at least that will not happen.
