I bought literally 5 of these back in the day…I carried it with me literally everywhere and inevitably would slide out of shirt pocket when I’d forget and bend over to pick up so,etching, and there it went slamming into usually a hard floor and always breaking the activator button (thus why I ended up buying so many). I didn’t realize they weren’t being produced anymore or I’d bought a few more beforehand. Was absolutely devastated when I couldn’t find new ones! Bought one in eBay when they were the more affordable $300 but I realized the IR doesn’t work! I actually use mine at work for a variety of monitors which are various brands and allows me to not have to carry around a bunch of different remote controls or run back to my office to get a specific one as leaving the remotes with the departments invariably led to disappearing/stolen remotes, thus why we kept them. Anyway, now my one working Sonic isn’t working for IR functions which is the main thing I need it for! Really wish there was someone who could fix these beauties for a reasonable fee. Have contacted Wand Co and they say they have no plans to do a new run but might maybe possibly someday (ie probably not) and have none left to sell for repairs/swaps. Really, love my Sonic and wish they’d do a new run of 10’s and even a couple new models of Uni Remotes (4th Doctor and 14th Doctor!). Until then I love my Sonic but dang I miss that oh so convenient TV Be Gone and TV Turn On no matter the brand & Monitor as it quickly cycles thru all the codes until it works. Brilliant tool that, and haven’t found a remote or any other device that can do the auto cycling thru all codes (if anyone knows of any other remote or device that can do that please let me know! Thanks great review of an amazing piece of fun technology that allowed a daily CosPlay worK!!!! And Wand Co, when your devices sell for $900 regularly on eBay it may be time to do a new run of the devices to make some bank, so,even if it can’t match the original $100 price, even double that would be awesome and would make us all happy Who’ers!!! :-) :-) :-)
It’s so pricey now and I remember when I was really young my sister got it for her birthday. I didn’t know what she did with it. She might have donated it or even got tossed out while we were moving. I’ve seen ppl on eBay selling it for $1,000 which is honestly terrible. 😭
Well. That depends on how you program it. Theoretically you can program one function to one TV and have a separate hematite control separate electronics. But it’s intended function, yes each bank is to control a different Ir controlled device. Keeps it organized that way.
@@Maxlechad i didnt replace the battery myself and the metal piece came from a friend of mine who had a spare. sorry i cant help there but the community is very nice find someone who has a bunch they've upgraded and message them.
I’m going to try do a battery replacement. I have two sonics so if I bust up the internals of one it’s not the end of the world. I found some extra batteries on Ali, 10 for 17 bucks which isn’t bad. There is also a man on eBay who sells replacement batteries with instructions on how to fix it for $65 bucks. Requires soldering though so I gotta look up some soldering tutorials. If I figure it out maybe I’ll post a video. I’m gonna follow a RU-vid tutorial on how to dismantle it and the eBay guy’s instructions on how to replace the battery.
