“Finding Your Roots” is a fantastic show. I’ve learned more about American history in hat show, than I did in school. Bill Hader is like a descendant from Charlemagne. Tons of really interesting things on that show.

Lots of people are descended from Charlemagne. I'm descended from Charlemagne, via William the Conqueror's wife. Because I am also descended from Plantagenet royalty. You go far back long enough, the only people who really lived long enough to have surviving descendants were the nobles and royals, it's nothing particularly special.

Those ancestry tests are not accurate. They can only detect the dna from people who have had dna tests. How do they detect where a person comes from by testing your dna? They can only match it from where you tell them your family came from.

Wanda should check further back in scottish church book records. -Can probably easily trace back her family to ca the fourteen hundreds. -That's pretty normal in Europe. -What brave ancestors to have!

Her ancestor was an indentured servant, i.e. she had so few prospects in Scotland, she signed herself up into 'near slavery' as a way out of her situation. So, do you think someone that poor had records kept about them? If you were 'somebody' in the UK, they had records about you; if you were 'nobody' then that was a different story.

Pronto plenty of poor colonial whites were debtors or petty criminals sentenced to servitude, or children pressed into service by their parents to pay their way.

@@vamanosninja4143 this is my family history...a poor indentured servant white boy from europe sent over to America because his parents had debts they couldnt pay, so yeah he was sold...he had a baby with a half white-half black women and she was considered a free slave...years down the line here I am, I'm fully white though only 2% black

Same happened in my fam, but my 5x great grandfather was from Scotland and was the enslaver and had a son with my 5x great grandmother. In va also. He freed her and their son and the other 6 enslaved, he wanted to have the boy educated in Glasgow so he wouldn't be bullied. But never happened. He gave the land to the boy and the mother and my family still lives on it. So my family on that side has been free since the 17 hundreds. A lot of places in va like where my family is from were free well before slavery ended. Where my fam is from had the highest population of free blacks in the US before emancipation. Queen Latifah's story is simular b/c her ancestors were from va

Happy Birthday Wanda Sykes. UR beautiful. Star Wars The Bad Batch is super awesome. The movies were all my first favorite. All of them. I love Over the Hedge. Seen it, all the times in middleschool, when its Friday. Same for Barnyard, its great. Also: Futurama is great. Bad Moms and A Bad Moms Christmas is hilarious. Love it. Ice Age 4 Continental Drift & Collision Course is amazing. And kind of funny, too. I seen all them, me and younger brother. The best. Rio is amazing, loved it. Not bad. +Disco Biscuit One of my ancestors was a tribal warrior in Ireland. He was basically a badass and was greatly feared as well as admired. But in today's standards, he's probably a monster and a savage. As well as a mass murderer. You shouldn't be afraid or ashamed of your heritage. Your ancestors are part of the reason that you're here alive on this Earth. Whatever the actions and decisions they made, know that you had nothing to do with it and that you wouldn't be as immoral as they might've been. Some might've done some pretty awesome things, too.

I haven't seen one American (whose roots go back to colonial times) not get British or Irish DNA. It's almost de facto for us (who have colonial ancestry).
