Please remember to keep your comments spoiler-free and understand that questions I ask and theories that I have are not meant to be answered and confirmed as I'm just simply thinking out loud for you all! My mods will be going through these comments so that I don't have to completely avoid them, but I also might do that anyway until I'm done watching/recording this show (hopefully by the end of the week). Appreciate your cooperation with this! Please check the video description for links to ALL my stuff! Fun fact: Dick van Dyke actually worked as a consultant on this show, giving the cast and crew advice on how to work on a 60s style sitcom (he was himself a sitcom star in the 60s)
@javarispenick9047

Each episode moves up a decade. First episode was 50s (Dick Van Dyke show) second episode was 60s (Bewitched) third episode was 70s (Brady Bunch)
@dirtyhawkstv1575
@dirtyhawkstv1575 10 месяцев назад
Actually Dick Van Dyke was 60s as she was dressed like Mary Tyler Moore. It was a combination of Dick Van Dyke and Bewitched. The 50s theme was I Love Lucy. The 70s was Brady Bunch and the house was straight out of the Brady Bunch.
@testfire3000
@testfire3000 10 месяцев назад
Yeah, for the first episode they actually invited Dick Van Dyke to come onto the set and talk about how they used to arrange the set and the lighting. They had to re-create some of the early TV era equipment just to film the episode. And as the title suggests, that first episode was indeed "Filmed before a live studio audience" whereas the next episodes use standard laugh tracks of the appropriate eras.

The reason for the separated beds in episode 2, which took place in the 60's, was because in tv sitcoms back then, it was taboo to show a married couple sleeping in the same bed on tv. It was a different time.
@Uatu-the-Watcher
@Uatu-the-Watcher 10 месяцев назад
True. But as KL indicated, and I experienced, there were some Greatest Generation couples that slept in separate beds like that. Perhaps to keep the charade up in the home, or for uninterrupted sleep, I don’t know. But it was a thing, even if practiced by a minority.

For context, this came out during peak Covid. I was working as an Executive Chef at a Nursing Home when this series came out. It was a very unpleasant experience to say the least. I remember the morning this debuted, I woke up at 4 am and snuck out of my bedroom to not wake up my fiancé. I turned it on and the Marvel logo and music hit, I started crying. Life had been pretty rough, but the music and fanfare brought me back to watching Endgame in theaters with all my friends and family. And I wondered if we would have that again. To this day, when I see or hear of WandaVision I flash back for a split second to that feeling. The world has mostly moved on thank god, but that unknown feeling…I’ll never forget it. Ps - Love your reactions 💙

After seeing a bunch of other reactors watch this series in 2 episode increments, I'm really appreciating you having 3 episodes per video. To me it's always felt like 3 acts to the entire series, and each 3 episodes do well in building stories, planting seeds for new ones, and putting bows on previous stories. This show was such a wonderful moment in time, the episodes coming out one per week always ending on cliffhangers, never feeling long enough. All the questions. Like other's have said I adored the slow burn of this series and personally would've loved if they kept that going for more episodes. I know there's also a group of people who didn't really get or like the sitcom style, more so the Black and White parts but I personally loved it. This also got me back into the MCU so I have a soft spot in my heart for Wandavision and is the reason why I've been watching the MCU for the past two years. I do prefer Loki though overall as a show but both are peak MCU for me. This show being the first Marvel Studios TV show and first project in Marvel's Phase Four so alot of fans came up with crazy theories that I can't really mention for spoiler reasons. But there was a large amount of hype surrounding this show and it's just one of my personal favourites up there with Loki for me. I like you're theory though, heavily reminds me of the House of M storyline from the comics. EP1 - 1950s - I Love Lucy & The Dick Van Dyke Show EP2 - 1960s - I Dream of Jeannie & Bewitched EP3 - 1970s - The Brady Bunch

I must preface my comments with the admission that WandaVision is my absolute favorite entry in the MCU. So my opinions will reflect that, lol. Ep1 was such a brain twister! Wanda's first line: "My husband and his indestructible head". Remember what happened to Vision in Infinity War? Yeah, that's dark, man. Debra Jo Rupp really was a clinch player in the first episode, she allowed us to just smile and accept that this was going to be a silly, fun sitcom and not think too much... until the scene with her at the dinner table. Holy crap that was some scary acting! Ep2 When this first aired, they released Ep1 and Ep2 on the same night. Which makes sense as waiting a week between would have lost a lot of the audience who were still confused by that cryptic first episode. This one confirmed that things are *not* as they seem and there is a deeper mystery to uncover. Paul Bettany as a "drunk" Vision was hilarious. A common trope in early sitcoms was to have the husband unexpectedly inebriated (took too much cough syrup or whatever) and slapstick comedy ensues. Also: "Who's doing this to you Wanda?" was so spooky and telling at the same time. Ep3 Finally we get 100% confirmation that this sit-com world is not a natural event. The neighbors are now starting to act openly odd. Geraldine mentioning an outside world event: Ultron. Then she gets ejected and we see some kind of encampment outside. I just love this show and I'm glad you are having fun with it.

I loved this show. It’s my favorite of the MCU shows. As confused as most of us were during the first 3 episodes, I just appreciated the homage it paid to shows like I love Lucy, I Dream of Jeanie, The Brady Bunch, The Twilight Zone…etc. Episode 4 is one of my favorites and I’m excited for you to see it. Not sure if you noticed, but the commercial in episode one was a “Stark Industries” product. You noticed the Hydra (Van Strucker watch - Age of Ultron). I liked how each episode was dropping hints from things you’ve seen already in the Infinity Saga.

Episode 3: The stage production was using stage sets from both Bewitched and The Brady Bunch. Each episode used mixed sets of whatever popular show was aired during the times. I loved watching Bewitched during the "Nick at Nite" rerun era of the 90's..very often. I recognized the backyard set immediately during the opening. Lots of shows since the 60's, even til now, have always used simple and obvious items to conceal a pregnancy. So the joke of Geraldine not noticing her belly behind the fruit bowl is poking fun at that old tv trope. As soon as Wanda gets distracted by remembering the reality of her dead brother, Geraldine looks like she's coming out of a cloudy mind haze and mentions Ultron. Next we see that there is no Geraldine with Wanda anymore, and Wanda looks a little diabolical when Vision questions where she is. That look gave me goosebumps, like a villain that went dead in the eyes after doing something deviant. Again...very twilight zone like. They did have a twilight zone show in the 70's too, I believe.

The really fascinating thing about these early episodes is how they show that at this point, the MCU had 100% confidence that it had a huge devoted fanbase who would stick with It no matter how much setup time was needed. And then you add on that this was literally our first piece of new ANYTHING after a year of COVID, and the sheer guts to give us this is pretty staggering. And it paid off, with the show being easily the most acclaimed part of Phase 4 (though personally I loved a lot of it).

Vision actually isnt just a machine. Thats his whole thing. He was supposed to be more. Remeber in Age of Ultron, DR Cho had that "cradle" that could print human tissue to heal wounded people(used it on Hawkeye) Ultron wanted a body printed for himself using DR Cho's cradle, but it couldnt print Vibranium alone(it was made for human tissue), so they figured how to bond the Vibranium with tissue cells and that let the cradle print the Vibranium. So Vision, at least orginally, is both Organic and Inorganic. Something between a machine and a person.

I just remembered that a lot of phase 4 movies and shows have references and/or links to non-MCU Marvel properties like the X-Men and Spider-Man movies. Without spoiling anything, I just want to suggest that before you get too much deeper into phase 4, the more X-Men and Spider-Man movies you have seen, the more you will get out of Phase 4.

Episode 1: a lot of reactors miss the slight angle switch of Mrs. Hart at the dinner table when she's repeating "Stop it!" She slightly switches her body position towards Wanda as she keeps repeating "Stop it!" She redirected it to her to make it stop, which meant she seemed aware that Wanda could. When as soon as Mr. Hart started perplexing or overwhelming Wanda with reality questions about their business there, is when he suddenly starts to choke. Vision looked worried yet unable to spring into action until he got approval from her to do so. Those red flags made that whole dinner scene very 50's twilight zone creepy.

Kaiielle, I'm so glad you decided you share your reactions to this series with us on RU-vid. It'll probably be a while before I'm in a place to support content creators financially, and while I understand there are many reasons why people save MCU TV reactions exclusively for Patreon, it's wonderfully pleasing to share these shows with friends when I can. I hope you don't feel badly about finding WandaVision so difficult to piece together -- it's supposed to be. Even comics fans who knew a lot about Wanda & Vision's history found themselves unsure as to what was happening, and why. The theorizing alone threatened to break the Internet. You're asking a lot of the right questions. Some will be answered soon, some will not. Stay tuned. In the meantime, here's a fun fact: The pose made by our lead couple at the 30 min. mark in your video is an Easter egg. It mimics the cover art of a comic book featuring Vision & Wanda from years ago.
@blackkatt777
@blackkatt777 10 месяцев назад
Episode 2: Easter eggs you missed. In their practice run at the beginning, Wanda wheeled out the vanishing box that had an infinity stone ( Mind stone) on the front of the box with active lines drawn from it as if to show it's emmitting something. When she opened the box to get in, the image was broken in two, just like when she shattered the stone from Vision's head in Infinity War. When Geraldine complimented Wanda on her pants, that was a sign of the times easter egg. Women were not allowed to wear pants until the 60's when the fashion industry started making styles for them to wear. Notice that in both episodes 1 and 2 every female wore a dress. The first commercial in episode one had a toaster that looked like Vision's head and a color of red for the on button. Red in horror films represent death. The timer beeped like a bomb timer about to explode. The woman looked scared in her eyes, but had a fake smile plastered on her face. And then the name Stark was mentioned. In this episode the commercial mentioned Strucker as the name of the watch. That was also the name of the Hydra agent that experimented with Wanda and Pietro that the Avengers were trying to get Loki's Scepter from in Age of Ultron. Wanda hears an unfamiliar voice calling to her through the radio and gets distracted, that's when Dottie suddenly breaks character and looks scared and confused when questioning Wanda about who she is. Wanda seems flustered at that and suddenly the glass shatters in Dottie's hand...drawing reality red blood from her. The episode turning to color at the end was symbolic of the time when black and white tv in the 50's to mid 60's turned to color tv. The opening of this episode, as well as the house structure was like the tv show Bewitched. It too started from 60's b&w into color.

So, to be completely honest, it took me until episode 3 to really get the feel for the show. Not that episodes 1 and 2 were bad, but they were from an era of sitcom that I... didn't care for. Heck, I'm iffy on sitcoms in general, but that's a separate matter. Either way, the era of sitcom, plus the lack of any clear idea where this was all going made those episodes tough. Three, though, got my curiosity, and then four... well, that one had my full attention. I'm glad I continued with the show, it really is amazing.

I am glad you like it! Not a spoiler, but all your questions are about to be answered... and all new questions will form... you are on a ride. I will say this... everything in this is really happening in the MCU and is canon. I love that you caught the change in aspect ration, a lot of people miss that. You were right that time is jumping. The first episode was in the 50s, the next was in the 60s where color came in at the end, then 70s with the Brady Bunch feel in this one.

I too am on the side of bringing the shows to the channel 'cause they exist primarily because MARVEL has A LOT of characters and stories to develop, but they can't turn all of it into movies 'cause of money and run time, so they made the shows. So missing a show on the channel could be the same as missing a movie and part of the story on the channel since all of them are still part of the MCU story. ... But there are some shows that don't add much and sometimes even remove things, somehow... Just add the people and they'll quickly tell you. But can't wait for more reactions!

I have a love/hate relationship with those first two episodes. They are very well done in every aspect, but they are classic sitcoms to the core, with plotlines and jokes that I just can't stand most of the time; especially the misunderstanding turned miscommunication turned hijinxs thing from the first one. But, again, I can't help but appreciate them for what they are, and the small subversions, like when the two broke character at the end of the dinner scene.

Btw!! Pay attention to the commercial breaks :) they can be pretty... Interesting. As for the time shift, yeah. Each week for viewers at the time, the decade switched. Pretty awesome.

I do have one question, that might matter: Have you seen the X-Men films? Specifically the ones starring McAvoy and Fassbender.

I have only seen the very first X-Men movie, but that was literally back when it released in 2000 so I have zero recollection of the story. I only remember what some of the characters look like. I am definitely not opposed to watching them for the channel, it's just a matter of when.

@@kaiielle I was just asking, because there's something in WandaVision that links to X-Men. Keeping it vague, so as not to spoil anything for you. It's just that you might understand that thing better, if you had seen some of the X-Men movies. But it's not too big of a deal either. Just might give you some pause in a couple of episodes.

And there will be more sprinkled throughout phase 4. But they're also more fun Easter eggs than essential info.

You're definitely hitting some points here (not gonna tell you which ones) I had actually waited to watch this show, which was a huge mistake because this and Loki are my two favorite MCU shows. Glad you're enjoying it, and yes, "What is going on?!" was the mood most of the way through.

Please consider the DAREDEVIL series before the reboot. It takes place right after phase one … and is in my humble opinion … the most well done Marvel series out there.

Heartbreaking to see such a beautifully tragic story and character become so viciously hated so quickly. Nice one Marvel the biggest and most egregious fumble in the franchise.

Was looking forward to your reaction to WandaVision. 🪄 When this show came out they released the first 3 episodes together for this very reason, there was some clarity that came with the first 3 without giving anything away as to what was next. I think this show is the most creative and amazing thing Marvel has done. Bringing back the 1 episode per week release was also brilliant because everyone was talking about this show so much. IMHO, I think shows dropping all the episodes at one time has made TV loose some of that mystery and "water-cooler" talk with friends about shows from week-to-week. We all had SO many theories about what was going to happen and it was a lot of fun. Anyways, so glad you're enjoying and can't wait for the mysteries to be revealed!
