this scene just makes me think "jesus christ, what did he go through????" like "the helper seeks to help because he knows what it is to be helpless" implies he went through batshit insane things and is willing to help anyone not to face those helpless stuff too, it hurts omfg
From what we knew in the story told by one kid in of the episodes(I dont remember which one exactly) he was separated from his family, probably the race of galactic travelers(it wasn’t confirmed but we don’t have a lot of the sources for his background). And also in time travel episode we learned that for some reason he was hunted and Sylvia was in fact one of the people who fought to catch him.
I don't remember much, but I'm pretty sure in one of the episodes he said that he got his hat from fighting in a war? *( I'm not sure if I'm right, but I'm pretty sure I remember him saying this )*
@@Exploding_Bagels Kind of. He basically stole the hat because two races were fighting a war over it because of its ability to produce anything. Quoted: Back in my past, I wandered to a galaxy in the middle of a civil war. Two former allies discovered the hat could give them wonderful things, but they got too greedy and turned against each other. In an attempt to conquer the galaxy, they forced the hat to give them whatever they wanted, without a thought to how the poor, helpless hat felt! I felt so bad for it, I did the only thing I could: I took it, and kept it safe on my head. Eventually, it learned to trust me and was nice enough to help me.
My theory: wander is the last species of his kind. And this subtle hint of his bad past fuels my theory that his homeland met devastation when he was young. He was the only one that managed to survive. And because of how traumatic it was, he was determined to help anyone and everyone in need because of his empathy that fuelled him. Also baby wander is so adorable. I feel so bad for him. (Regardless of whether my theory is true or not)
That theory make sense with the time travel episode, that show sylvia rescue wonder from that terminator bot. And as she opened the sack wonder was in, and she took him, naming him wonder, he said himself "wonder huh, i like it" meaning maybe he forgot his own memory as well. Man, seeing this show after so long, it really gives me good feelings. That episode itself changed me too
The theory looks and sounds reasonable. It has some of the typical superhero origin hints like being the last of a race that met an untimely end, but i think in The Legends has some solid ground on the idea that Wander's race COULD be some sort of nomadic race of fluffy travellers and he simply just got curious, trailed off the path, and whwile helping people of other planets, he was given the name of Tumbleweed before he was given his proper moniker as Wander.
This has got to be the deepest, most beautiful scene the show has to offer. "The helpers seeks to help others because he knows what it is to be helpless." Not only does this create enormous speculation on Wander's mysterious past, but it makes sense why he continues to try and help everyone, no matter whether they're good or bad.
"I wouldn't someone else to go through what I went through" While yeah, he could just be referring to what happened with the crystals but there is a part of me that says he's very much so talking about his past. I mean, that whole segment somewhat implies it. He knew what it was like to be helpless.
“THE HELPER SEEKS TO HELP BECAUSE HE KNOWS WHAT IT IS TO BE HELPLESS” I love that quote so much, it’s up there with “WHEN YOU DO THINGS RIGHT PEOPLE WONT BE SURE YOU’VE DONE ANYTHING AT ALL” from futurama
"The best things in life are more then Just a list of their parts." -Wander, in "The bot". This is my 5th favourite episode of the show. Most of it is extremely fun, with plenty of fun Wander split personality stuff, but the ending tears my heart out every time. Wander needing his empathy to complete himself, since "The helper seeks to help beacuse he knows what it's like to be helpless" is just beautiful. Perfect ending.
I love how this episode centers around Wander's past. Not just with Zen Wander's "The helper seeks to help others because he knows what it is to be helpless" quote, but how some of the Wanders are direct references to past episodes, like Blonde Wig Wander ("The Greatest"), Obsessy Wander ("The Box"), Wild Wooly Wander ("The Bad Guy"), Lover Wander ("The Brainstorm"), Mime Wander ("The Void"), and Hero Wander ("The Boy Wander").
I'm gonna say it right now, that quote during the vulnerable Wander part has act'ly made a really big impact on my life. Oddly enough, it really sparked a lot more than just empathy in me. I mean, I always had empathy, and other stuff besides, but my emotions had trouble showing when I was a kid, more because of the fact that I was detached than self conscious about it.
Makes you think... If Wander came out as "pseudo-himself" when every piece besides the little Wander came in... Does that mean Wander was once like this? That some horrible event changed his ENTIRE worldview, making him only want to help? To think Wander would've a regular "good guy" if not for some event that happened to him... it really makes you think yk?
There’s a theory I saw on another video where Wander is actually a former villain who changed for the better and that’s why he’s so insistent on befriending anyone and everyone he possibly can, which would make a lot of sense - especially since there’s no telling how long he’s been alive so there’s a huge potential timeline to work with!
I think he was trying to leave his trauma behind. When he said "home", it might be because he's wandering around to find a forever home too. Who knows, maybe the rest of his species is at the edge of the universe.
What if Wander was the first villain? I mean, of course he went through a traumatic event when he was a kid, but I think that at first he didn't see it as a reason to help others but a reason to HURT others so he dosen't feel helpless, and he started to the trend of warnering from world to world to dominated them all until he actually dominated the galaxy, and got so known for it that everyone wanted to conquer their galaxy too, but once he finally did it he still felt empty and lonely (That it's literally the reason of Lord Hater and Dominator to be villains, Lord Hater because he feels helpless and Dominator feels lonely, Wander felt both) so he decide to take down his own empire and went to another Galaxy to start a journey so he can find who he TRULY is, until he found out that goodness and kindness it's what makes life worth living and helping people it's what makes him TRULY happy, so he not only goes through planets to help but also trying to fix what his past actions left in the present, now seeing that tragic event to the reason of why helping others. And also, Wander probabily had a strong determination through years, to conquer the galaxy as to learnd true kindness@@infinitystreetmv

I think the reason why he’s able to move without the child version because of a theory I heard from a RU-vidr, he used to have this black and white mindset until he saw someone who’s not as evil as he tjought
This really made me smile. It’s nice to see Sylvia finding out every part of Wander is important. I also find the scared Wander scene very loving and cute. Really goes to show how much of a good friend Sylvia is to Wander.

He told that the show doesn't have any explanation about this but he has a theory that said when wander was still a kid, the planet that he lived was invaded by the evil doer and then the little wander chase them observe them from afar after that he find out that the villain had a problem with their life too

Oh how I love it when sunshine characters have deeply rooted psychological problems and trauma It's so YUMMY But holy shit this explains so much It's the most important part and it was a CHILD Propably why he's often so, well, childish It actually hits hard, because wow, I want to learn more about this guy so badly WHAT HAPPENNED TO YOU He did NOT want that part. And it's the most important part. Does this mean he hates himself. He did not want to remember that, sure, but he KNEW what part that was, so he did remember. HEYYYY! There's someone here from less than a week ago! And someone with such a storyteller mind! Fancy running into you here. I really like your analysis. Personally I think that Wander did NOT want that part of him because he thinks he'd be better off without the memories of whatever traumatic experiences he went through, or at least that it'd be painful to revisit them. I've SEEN those OCD Wander posts, and I'm still waiting on that one person's comp. Considering showing it to my friend, when they reply to me (depressive episodes that last a loooong time). I'm VERY interested in this headcanon. Just got into this cartoon recently and the fandom's theories are so interesting! In a way I'm kinda glad they didn't make a third season, because then we might've gotten canon lore, and it probably wouldn't be that sweet (in a fanfic author way). What's your tumblr account?
