Join me on short walks around the beautiful South Hams village of Dittisham. Discover a waterwheel, a creek, a house and where a world famous Devon explorer planted and grew vegetables.
Hello Paul - greetings from Poland This my friend, is the best video/vlog so far. Absolutley fascinating walk. Great camera work, a wonderful walk through picturesque countryside and a commentary that brought everything I saw to life. This vlog had everything - potaoes, mill wheel, rivers and creeks. Great houses, Agatha Christie, railways - WOW! Historical facts that only a lot of research could find. Congratulations - a great job.
Oh yes, I remember filming that one Michael! I seemed to remember the sheep and the shepherd. I was blown away about the potatoes fact when I learnt about it. Walter Raleigh's descendents still own those fields above the River Dart. It is a lovely village. Thanks again, Paul 👍
The views from on high down onto the Dart are wonderful. I like to picture David Suchet exercising his little grey cells in that beautiful area. The daffodil fest in the churchyard is quite impressive.
Thank you Faith. This was the first video of mine that really took off in terms of number of views. I was averaging about 25 views per video, and I remember my excitment when this passed the 100 views mark! Yes, a beautiful location, and I seem to remember that I filmed this immediately after a long day after work in Brixham. Was blessed with beautful (and long) evening light. Take care, Paul.
Is that the FBI near the ferry or The Red Lion near the church that you go to? Both are cracking. Kayaking on The Dart sounds fabulous! Enjoy! Just filmed my final vlog in Brixham this afternoon (in awful weather) after I finished my last day at work in Brixham. Should be up later this week. Then, next vlogs will be from Cornwall, until I return to visit Devon again. Thanks again Deb's, take care, Paul.
Hi Paul, a very enjoyable walk!! Some great filming and selection of music. Lots of history to tell, very interesting. My AA book tells me that Humphrey Gilbert got drenched by a servant who saw him smoking tobacco and thought he was on fire!! It was a lovely find that water wheel, shame it looks a bit uncared for. Last year I discovered a series of operational waterwheels used for raising water for irrigation. They were inland on the River Segura at a place called Aboran, just found this ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-jTiNPZS5d5o.html Fascinating to watch in operation, the Noria Grande is meant to be the largest operational noria in Europe. Good luck from Spain!
Thank you David - glad you enjoyed the filming, photography and my music choices. Wow! Didn't know that about H. Gilbert being drenched because his servant thought he was on fire! Not surprising, really, if you've never seen anyone smoking before, I suppose. Yes, it was good to see the waterwheel, but it was a bit unloved, wasn't it? Wow, thank you for sharing that clip of the Noria Grande - amazing and super interesting - I didn't know anything about it. Thanks again, take care, Paul.
