Wangan Midnight AMV. The song is "Flow" by Daiki Kasho. Many requests for this one, finally made it happen! Thanks for watching, I hope you enjoy it!
I decided to try something a little different than the usual. This AMV focuses on Eriko and her grievous ties to the "cursed" Z, which was once owned and raced by her brother, who happened to have the same name as it's new owner. She struggles to understand their obsession with the car and the speeding addiction that comes with it. Eriko is a minor character in the series, and only around for a few episodes before she leaves Tokyo to attend college in England. The edit also features Akio's second race with the S30 Datsun 240Z against "Blackbird" Porsche 964.

This song is so perfect for Wangan Midnight. The upbeat but also melancholy song fits the exciting and action-packed but also deep and dark feel of the show. It’s emotional like many moments in Wangan Midnight that resonate with the lyrics. If you didn’t listen to the lyrics or understand them, I interpreted them to be about a race car driver/street racer who didn’t seem to have a purpose in life but, upon discovering racing, he realizes what he must live for. “Behind those eyes a strobe, black and white Start to reach out but pull back in fright Another day (another day) Is passing me by in fact it’s almost gone, should I have done more? Will I stay (I stay) Locked inside myself forever, Wish I could just let myself go Flowing... Just turn off your mind Moving... They’re at the speed of sound Flowing... What’s the price to pay? Freedom... I’ll seal my beating heart Inside of this emotional storm Weakness you never thought could be yours So much to lose (much to lose), but there’s so much more to gain, I wish I could trust myself for once Deep down inside, I know that the answers there in front of me, moving with the flow Flowing... They are hurt by racing but they still do it. As Blackbird says in the Wangan Midnight movie, “Would you rather spend your life driving fast cars, or would you rather quit your passion forever and live boringly?” This song fits the Devil Z especially because of that. Together with that midnight blue S30, Akio is flowing... moving at the speed of sound. What’s the price to pay? Only he will ever know.

Dang dude that's deep, your interpretation of the song is even more meaningful than mine was originally. I feel even more connected to the lyrics after reading your comment. It is essentially the story of my life, always deep down I've wanted to be a racecar driver but not willing to leave my country and family to take the plunge with what little resources I have. But sometimes I get a taste of it, at the go-kart track, or when I feel the sensation of speed and finding the edge of my 280ZX's capabilities on the backroads. But there is always hope, I have been offered a sponsorship for next year, and if life doesn't get in the way this time, I will take the opportunity. Apparently I have what it takes to win, although I am happy just to compete!
