One of the most dangerous places to be arrested conning or stealing from people is in banks. Banks have very good lawyers and they follow up the cases until the culprits are jailed. It's my prayer that her colleagues in crime are arrested one day. The pain and anguish that victims of such bank theft cases go through is unbearable. Her words of wisdom are valuable. I feel this case can be revisited and judgment reversed. If there is some way you can help, kindly do. Whoever gave that kind of silly judgment, 9 years, is just stupid. We all have heard such cases.

This is a complicated case, and there seems to be alot of missing information in this case. There has been rising cases of theft from the people's / deceased bank accounts, and she seems to have participated in it.
It does not matter if it was her mum's account or somebody else.The fact is you were not her mother even if she said you ressembled her,and therefore you could have turned down the deal.So you should blame yourself and not anybody else for not saying no.

Am not doubting her story but since one of our friend lied to us her mum had passed away, we contributed money for her only for the brother to tell us that the mum is still alive😑

She was tricked by a lady claiming her parents died and mom had money in the bank,so she said she looks like jer mom and can use her to withdraw her moms money ,her mom was a landlady So they went to the bank and withdrew it and she gave her400k and tipped her20k Another day same trick of 200k tipped 10k..3rd time,same trick ,the balance had issues so she had to write and thats where she was "numbed" by the police,the lady flew the scene and this mom ended up in jail😪😪😪😪 Then she was numbed bybthe poli

As much as ignorance has no defence, didn't she have a lawyer who could have argued some mitigating factors? Like if she knew it was fraud, she could have run away from the bank, her age, she's a first time offender-no other criminal record etc. 9 years isn't humane for an elderly person.
