Today at the Mystery Shack, we continue our adventures at the (for now) final frontier of our Grand Line journey - the land of Wano. Will the mysterious land of samurai and all-out emperor battles live up to the highs of everything we've seen so far? Well to find out, join me in my never-ending journey on the Grand Line as I will be watching through the anime adaptation of One Piece for the very first time and ranking each arc in a tier list format to determine which one is unquestionably, definitively, and definitely not just in my opinion, the best one.

First off, all the raid suits are awesome including Sanji's. Also I know it's usually a lazy trope but the Big Mom amnesia I feel was earned and not unnatural. She has been prone to memory problems since she was a small child so I think it was in character. And fitting that she reverted back to how she was as a child. And lastly you keep bringing up the difference in perspective between binging One Piece and waiting weekly. Let me give you a tidbit of info that might blow your mind. It had been 6 IRL years up until that point that Zoro and Sanji were separated. WE WAITED 6 ACTUAL YEARS TO SEE THEM TOGETHER AGAIN! It was so amazing to see that moment where they both jumped in to save Otoko. Love all your reviews can't wait for the next!

One Piece's immortality problem is so big that when seeing Yasu being shot, like, 50 times, I was thinking "Okay, he has a 50% chance of surviving this."

Bounties are kinda "threat level" imo, of course stronger people would have higher bounties, but that is not the only factor: Big Mom and Kaido are a lot more violent than Whitebeard, but he held a power capable of destroying the world. As for Robin, he had a high bounty as a kid for what she knew, but by herself she wasn't that much of a threath to the World Government; NOW (spoiler for the manga for other readers) she sits at 930.000.000 berry because she is officially in the crew of an Emperor, and with that backing can do serious damage. SIde note: this is just me speculating, but I think the bathhouse scene exist only to get Sanji's blood on his raid suit and "activate it" since it's coded with his DNA.

IMO wb being much stronger and having the power to destroy the world is enough threat to put him the highest bounty of pirates alive. However IMO kaido with its raids is far more dangerous than wb for its citizens

Always hilarious with your Sanji salt and missing/ignoring the bigger picture, like Sanji throwing his pride away if it means protecting his crew (in regards to using the suit), the impact of the hunger of the country in relation to Sanji always wanting to feed the needy, and while the bath house gag is just that, a gag, what do you really expect? Some people have their quirks and vices, and even with growth, they just won't give some things up. It's actually respectable that Sanji still remains Sanji; otherwise he'll kinda stop being the classy but pervy love cook, flaws and all. I still find it hilarious that while Zoro gets some cool moments in an arc that seemed tailor made for him, the character driven stuff throughout this arc arguably still goes to Sanji. From FI to Wano, he continues to grow and have more things about him explored and expanded upon. Definitely curious on your take on one of his more controversial moments you displayed during the shots of the raid. XD

this part of wano made me realized how a "simple" alliance Law ask to Luffy to bring down Kaido turned out to be complex and important in detroying the smile Devil Furits that. how it is a big deal that Law stated this plan that made Franky and other destroy the smile factory was significant to wano. this arc also me finally able to say that Law never betray the straw-hats all those who suspect it are all wrong was a worth wait.

Lack of Zoro character development was definitely a huge missed opportunity if nothing else. Felt like there were a lot of things in Wano that were poised to trigger some decent development for Zoro, but none of them amounted to anything. Oh well

Bro am I the only one that finds the lack of background info on Zoro purposeful like hes not only physically lost he's lost in life, like we can infer that Ryuma, and then that one dude with the dog are both ancestors to Zoro, not to mention his parents could have left Wano when the blacksmith dud 50 years ago and actually if you think about it if Zoros grandparents were pregnant with Zoros parents when left Wano and even Zoros parents barely knew of Wano makes sense, idk I feel like we have hella info on him but it's all background info you kind of have to infer from random pieces of info, but as I said he's lost in life so eventually when he finally finds himself we MIGHT figure out, it's also Oda and if it doesn't really affect the plot Oda won't write in the manga bit the SBS LMFAO

Also I realized since the dude with the dog died between the 20 years that momo and the gang were gone from Wano means that Zoro had a living relative in Wano less then 2 decades ago... meaning there's no way Zoro isn't from Wano and like 3 lines total in Wano indirectly confirm it...

@t3cchan nah brother your completely right, were as all 9 of the other straw hats backstory seem to either at least affect a plot line or change something about how we view the world, most we got from Zoros back story is actually Kuinas backstory technically not his own, it's like of we never found out about the vinsmokes and only about Zeff with Sanji

Okay but Big Mom and Tama. C'mon guys. They had to meet at a point where BM wasn't gonna just ignore her or something. Bonding needed to happen. And thus... memory issues. Frankly, I liked it. It worked on many levels for many interactions and many story beats came from it. Also, the raid suit was worth it for Drake, Law and Hawkins' reactions. I love how they fanboyed without fanboying. It gave them another connection that was just wholesome and a reminder that even these big bad pirates were kids with stars in their eyes once. FR, hilarity was top notch. Keep bringing those kicks, Oda!

Bounties reflect the level of threat they pose to the World Government. Whitebeard and Roger were very close and if you remember back to Marineford, Roger told Whitebeard what the Will of D is. He is a threat physically and information wise

I love the entire aesthetic of the germa power rangers, and Sanji's Soba Mask seemed to be a homage to Gohan's Great Saiyaman, even down to the Ginyu Force's style intro, which I loved and almost lost my mind when I first saw it. Sanji has been one of my favorite Strawhat's since I first started watching the show back in 2003, He's had amazing personal growth over the last 25 years of the show, overcoming his traumatic past and finding his self worth, while maintaining some very human flaws. To me this makes him one of the most organic and down to earth characters of Oda's world. His over the top reaction to women can be a bit cringy, but hey, "Love is a Hurricane!" (Old saying in the East Blue)

Even that was an homage to the entire Tokusatsu genre. Even the Sogeking fake opening way way back was a similar homage. And I've watched my mecha anime from the realistic to the goofy side, and Franky's robot is one of the goofiest ever, but also didn't get hated.

I’ve been watching your videos every time I finish a One Piece arc, so after I finished Wano Act 2 I figured I could watch this one… you should definitely put a spoiler warning if you’re discussing stuff that happens after Act 2 in your Act 2 video. I’ve really enjoyed watching these videos but I’m gonna have to wait until I’m fully caught up to keep watching them now.

The biggest problem with killing no one off till the second half is whenever I see people actually die it doesn’t really hit. I never trust they’re actually dead until multiple people confirm it and by that point I’m not gonna cry about it

I agree that the arc would've benefitted from actually exploring Orochi and the Kurozumis more than it did. But like you said, this arc was packed to the brim with a bunch of different storylines, and not all got their moment in the sun. Tbh it feels like Oda bit off more than he could chew with Wano

This was amazing. Regarding the Zoro arc idea, a lot of people expected that but I really dont see how that could happen. What we have learnt of Wano means the 2 groups who left Wano never came back. Kids like Zoro, Kuina and Tashigi were born on the seas or in east blue. They have no knowledge of Wano or family lineage. Especially Zoro, he went off hunting dojos when he was like 8. All we will ever have is speculation but I do believe him having a lastname points to him belonging to a family.

RE: Bounties. Kaidoh and Big Mom both have a piece of the road, right? Whitebeard knew what the One Piece was and had the ability to destroy whole countries and probably half the world with his fruit. It's very much based on power, ability and knowledge. It's a threat to government scale. A "how much should you fuck with this person" scale. A "should we maybe retreat/call in an admiral" scale.

It's sad you didn't like so many characters in this arc. To each their own but I say binging the series didn't allow for them to settle in your mind, some require some stewing to be appreciated I feel. Maybe after a rewatch in the future you might change your mind, or you might not, it's all in the eye of the beholder. Sanji being so dumb so often still exasperates me though.

@@KorotoHonestly, I’m in total agreement with you regarding Sanji. I don’t dislike him. In fact, I’ve liked the development of his character overall, especially after WCI. I also appreciate him asking for help when up against a female antagonist because he is more accepting of his limitations. He’s great when he’s silly, but still reliable. However, the whole pervy thing is just too much at this point. I feel like he’s actually regressed in a lot of ways. Sanji touching Nami’s chest and wanting to take naked pics of her without her permission in Punk Hazard went far and away beyond cringe. He had complete control over her body and he just stepped way over the line IMHO. I can’t understand people making excuses for him in Wano because he went to an all gender bathhouse. His point was to see his female friends/crew mates naked (again without permission). Luffy is supposed to be his captain, but instead of going with Luffy on his way to Kaido, Sanji runs in another direction because he heard a woman calling for “help.” I can’t even trust him to go off on his own coz he can’t imagine a woman would be trying to bamboozle him.

As a fan of mecha and tokusatsu for some of the same reasons, I don't get the hate for the Raid Suits, but love for the mecha homages. Oda pulls from pop culture all over the place. Half of the characters seem to homage something real. "Oh hey, Areosmith's Steve Tyler is the bad guy this time."

I hypothesize that the reason for Whitebeard's higher bounty is due to his Devil Fruit literally having the potential to destroy the world combined with his tussles with Roger.

also time. people forget kaido for example was very young on rocks crew. you would imagine on the crew and post crew whitebeard had more time as a pirate. whitebeard was i guess 72 and kaido 59 we can say 57 cus tiemskip. whitebeard was 13-15 years older. now big mom i dont get as much cus shes not only just about as old as whitebeard so could have pirated sooner and built up but shes known to have impenetrable skin messed with giants and has a VAST spy network. This is all to say that each of the 3 emperors may have gotten their crew around the same time post rocks but pre rocks and while on rocks they had different times to get started and may have had a different starting bounty going into making their own crew. we also see cp agents at big moms wedding and dealing with kaido and i dont think whitebeard would ever work with the government so while we see him as more peaceful he probably fought with the government more often then the other two. big mom kept it in the family and kaido beat people into submission and survival of the strongest leads to a lot of die off and smiles are relatively new. Meanwhile whitebeard befriended other crews giving him a much larger and stronger army to lead. kaidos army is strong but most are underlings while whitebeard had 13 commanders and other pirate captains. lets all be honest here smiles were not "strong" in the new world sense.

Ryuma's grave no longer exists since Moria stole his body and sword so Zoro couldn't visit him in Wano.

You can have a grave without a body, plus the whole deal with shusei was that Onimaru and Kawamatsu wanted it returned to Ryuma’s grave and Zoro wanted to visit it. All parties involved knew Ryuma’s body was gone, so that wouldn’t make sense.

Bounties are based solely on Threat level to the World Government, not a straight powerscaling thing like Dragon Ball. It adds to the hype cause of course people will be interested to discuss wtf are they capable of because there's probably a reason the World Government are scared of them. This can either be played straight like Kaido, or as a joke like Ussop. Always remember One Piece is a comedy, subverting the power scaling method is part of it. As for Blackbeard and Rocks, I don't know if you know this but Blackbeard's ship is called "Sword of Xebec" so ye :) EDIT: Also I'll argue One Piece does the best "powerscaling" numbers compared to most anime simply cause it's not a straight "The power level is higher so the win is obvious" like DB did. The hype still remains as Powerlevels are meant to create but the result of the fights aren't as obvious because of said powerlevels if that makes sense.

Episodes 957, 982, and 1015 were all directed by the same person (Megumi Ishitani), which explains the random increase in quality for those episodes. Also, if the pattern continues of her directing every 22nd chapter, she should be directing 1044

Im sorry I have to disagree with The more deaths stuff, even with flashbacks There aren't that many deaths, It makes full, real deaths impact even more, I've read a lot of dark manga and seen a lotta anime like that where a lot of characters die and you don't realise How much more deaths would desensitize you until you Read any stuff like fire punch and chainsaw man part 1.

I am an agent of chaos, I unironically thought about calling Zoro Zolo and never addressing it in any way 🗿 Jokes aside, I find it very funny whenever people get super mad about pronunciations (especially considering I am speaking a foreign language while trying to pronounce a word coming from ANOTHER foreign language), so yeah, I do sometimes bait people on purpose😂😂
