Beautiful!! This is even better than a traditional canopy bed bc you don't have the physical canopy interfering with the effect that that curtain provides. Visually more aesthetically pleasing. Thanks for sharing this.
This _is_ a traditional way to hang bed curtains. Ideally you’d have a “tester” (basically a ceiling for the bed) as well, which could be wood or fabric. Adding a cloth tester isn’t overly complicated either.
There is a cheap hack for kids: Screw-in hooks (small and cheap, the ends are screws, dollar store shear curtain panelling, fishing line and safety pins. Did my nieces room this way, looks great, way cheaper and easy to fix when play time knocks those curtains down.
Amazon sells easy to put together steel frames that are just four feet, four vertical rods, and four horizontal rods. You tuck the feet under your existing bed frame, then put curtains on the horizontal rods. It was so easy to put together my roomie had it done for me in like 10 minutes. (I'm disabled and I probably could have done it!) I'm now the proud owner of a heavy velvet canopy space with lots of privacy and it's dimming enough that I can sleep in it with the lights in the room on full. My cat adores it, too, because it's basically a Giant Box.
I'm from the South & have a canopy bed. I had curtains up a few yrs back & it was so much fun. It brought the kid out in me! Felt like I was in a some secret hiding place. lol😉
@PrettyinthePines yes please if you could let us know where we can purchase these. That would be fantastic if you could do that. Thanks and beautiful job on this project!
This would actually be perfect for slanted ceilings. If you cut the curtains on the shorter side, you wouldn't get the weird uneven feeling of a straight across canopy bed with the tilted ceiling
Since I was a little girl, I’ve always wanted a canopy bed! This is so beautiful! I hope you enjoy it ☺️ I’m reminded how much I still want that canopy xD
This entire thread is full of delusion. Why should the universe/god send infinite resources to some rich RU-vidr to do bedroom renovations, instead of someone who actually needs and deserves it like homeless people? There is no hope for this Simulation anymore. I'm out of here.
I’m so happy to see this on you tube! It’s like she heard me talking to my daughter about doing this. However, this young literary elevated by vision better and next Saturday, I’ll buy these curtains rods and brackets and have ( the store installed for me. Thank you, thank you. Blessings 🙏
Looks absolutely lovely! Love seeing the laser for lining up the hooks. It's kinda neat how this version of a canopy bed is actually pretty similar to a medieval way of doing it. Rather than having wooden posts supporting the canopy, you could have a metal frame hanging from the ceiling that held the curtains. You'd also have a piece of fabric over top that created a little 'ceiling' over you and hung over the sides to hide the rod and top of the curtains. Something like that or what you've done is MUCH easier to move houses with as well.
First thought for Me was ...while beautiful..the Spiders are gonna have some Fun. That's Why I don't have my bed near a wall. Watched a few race each other across the wall and park it in a corner. 🤔😳
I’m going to need you to buy a new house about every 2 years so we can keep this going😂. I wish I could do to my house what you do to yours! You’re so talented.
You can get beefier hardware to screw into the joists if you want real bed hangings. They used curtains that closed to make a small warm bubble for sleeping. I grew up in an old house with no central heat. This stuff gets real important in winter.
I wanted to do something like this to create a hidden closet space in a room, but don't want to put holes in my ceiling. Maybe command hooks, or nails in the trim to support tension wire..
I am so doing this!! I can’t wait! It looks so beautiful. I love your wallpaper, chandelier - the whole room and I know you’re not even done. I love your channel - can’t wait to see all you do with your new home. Thank you for sharing!
The idea of a princess canopy bed has always been my dream since I was a kid and then thank God my dad hit me with reality and said OK but only if you’re OK with sleeping with spiders. I have arachnophobia so that immediately killed me ever wanting to do this, but the desire still hurts my heart because all I wish is for a world without bugs or spiders in a 50 mile radius 😂
Genius idea! Came across a similar thought the other week but though how in The hell do I even hang this… nano tape? lol thank you for sharing and not gate keeping this 😊
If you are in college I got you. If you kive in a dorm with the ceiling tiles you can push up you can do this. But thin curtain rods at walmart or ehatever and get some string. Lift up the toles and tie loops over the metal spaces that keep the tiles in place. Drop the tile back down and put the rod through the loop. I had a roommate who had to sleep with a nightlight so I got black out curtains and made myself a fort this way on my lofted bed.
Absolutely gorgeous! Did you add wallpaper also? Do you notice the hooks on ceiling much? So thrilled with your new home for baby, pup & your family to be around your extended family!🙏🙏🙏Blessing’s
I used to have a canopy bed growing up and I hated it. It was pretty but the polls would fall off while I was sleeping so I’d wake up all the time like “WAH- WHO IS THERE” and it was just my bed being my bed. Anyways, this is a good solution for that
I had a canopy bed and all it did was manage to get HUGE spiders crawling in it . The spider had ducking antennas! I would NOT recommend an actual canopy bed.
