Not to sound antiquated, but as a man, I appreciate the effort women put into turning out their best. Always compliment a woman on her efforts, because a lot of care has gone into a look and they always seem to have fun dressing. I had an extremely elegant mother, who insisted that we always looked our best. Even to this day at 53 years old, every little detail of my over all appearance is important. Shaving, bow-tie, scarves, over coat etc etc…..great video.

I love it! Bring back the antiquated beauty of being well-groomed and well-dressed. As a youngish woman (39 ☺️) I appreciate seeing people looking well dressed. Several years ago, at a bagel shop, I noticed an elderly man, probably every bit of 80+ who looked so sharp from top to bottom. Neat as a pin, well-groomed with a nice watch, I was impressed. I wish I would’ve told him so. Every one of us has the opportunity to put out a little beauty, creativity and joy into the world by how we present ourselves.
I don’t want to start a battle but Italian women outdo French women by a mile. I say this as an American woman living in Michigan who especially loves watching RU-vid videos of street-style in Milan. Maybe it’s because I grew up in the 1950s but I am nostalgic for the days when women looked put together whenever they appeared in public. Clothes fit better then because many women knew how to sew and made their own clothes. I know that those days are gone but I hung onto my sewing basket and sewing machine so I can do some of my own alterations, I have a good steam iron and a full length mirror for final inspection before departing from home.
Yes, I remember in the 50's women going into town were in a smart suit, or dress, hat, gloves, heels. They looked fabulous. Sometimes I wonder if something like that will ever come back. Probably not, at least in my lifetime.

My favorite tip are the dresses you used be able to buy at any Tuscan market that came to any small town when I was a child in the 70s and 80s visiting my aunt. To this day, thanks to my mother and aunt, I prefer a beautiful dress for every day…even going to the supermarket. Mostly women my age wear workout clothes. I live in dresses.
I love dresses, too. It makes me sad that so many young, beautiful women shlump around in ugly sweats and hoodies and crocs. A dress is so flattering, feminine and can be very comfortable and practical, too.
I especially love handbags made in Italian leather as well as sunglasses by Italian designers. Having visited Rome, I noticed that both women and men were upscale dressers, wearing clothes that were well-made. Nothing slouchy or messy!
In the mid 80's I spent a month in Rome. Lots of times I would sit on the Spanish Steps on watch the fashion show. There were so many elegant Roman women, dressed up and walking in heels! Many times a man would be carrying their packages. I am so happy I was able to experience that. It has stayed with me all these years. I have traveled throughout Europe and no other fashion experience has even come close!
I was also there then. I remember a tall beautiful woman with long blonde hair and a full length fur coat walking two large dogs through one of the cobblestone alleys - like someone out of La Dolce Vita.
I've been to Paris numerous times and I've been to Italy twice. It is my personal opinion that the stylish Italian women outshine the Parisienne women. Both are very classy but the Italian women have something extra. A certain je ne sais quoi, if you will. Thanks for an inspiring video.
I have to agree, I noticed many expensively dressed women in Paris who had very unkempt, even greasy hair. Sometimes publicly sniff those hairy armpits while wearing sleeveless dresses, and then reach into their handbag, pull out a parfum bottle and commence to spraying both 'pits' liberally - all while strolling with their elegant beaux!

Agreed - Canadian winters are hard. It is a challenge to look elegant and polished in all our winter layers...bulky sweaters, wool socks, big boots, toques, and cold dry skin. love to have your help.

I adore women over 50 who are flirtatious, regardless of hair color. The important thing is that they are not ridiculous and that everyone wears their age with elegance, femininity and grace. If she is well-groomed, feminine and elegant, even if she uses a walker or cane, she is the same woman you can admire regardless of age.
Yes, taking care of oneself and dressing clean, neat and carrying oneself confidently will get one very far in life, no matter the age. I sense people respect the effort required for women to bother doing some rituals required to look great from morning-through-evening each day, and that is what really gets peoples' attention in a world that really is more slovenly and too casual than it should be (and is reflected in peoples' behaviors externally - after all, how many people would be foul-mouthed and have rude manners while wearing elegant clothes? whether young men or young women? Not many, I would suspect and that is why when uniforms are required in certain inner city schools the children outperform their peers in public schools in the USA.
I am Italian so I pretty much adhere to everything you said… Definitely the grooming!! I’m sure it’s a given, but our smile is very important. I love my silk blouses, and I love my flowy pants. I go off the rails a bit because I also love my ripped jeans and ripped jeans shorts!! Great video!!
For a long time, I didn't realise I was more like Italian ladies than French's. Scarves, hat, long coat, and tailored clothes are my stables every day.

What to wear under Cashmeres? A Tshirt? And silk shirts/blouses are indeed fine and beautiful. But after been worn one day they need to be washed. Even with deodorant under the arms its necessary. I also love wonderful dresses. They make a women look loke a woman. Its not so easy to be well dressed, when one has a belly, unlike all these shown women. Especially when it comes to trousers or skirts!

Another aspect who is 😅 is essential. In my education, it's the reflects of yourself all these years. A beautiful smile is essential as beautiful hair, hands, shoes, etc. Your dental cares reflect a lot (it's a social statement also). So for a polished complete look do not forget to take care of your teeth 😁 it can be really attractive.

Thanks for the tips , yes I love silk blouses I think they are elegant looking & attractive, im very fussy with clothes to wear I like style , my best Sunday clothes for church & make up is important, I like to match my bag to my dress colour so I have diffrent colours of bags , some are ordinary brand some are designer brand , I think I got this from my mother she’s concious of her fashion as she looks pretty and chic even at her 98 yrs end of her life she has lipstick at her pocket red one God bless her , grooming is important twice face moisturising , body lotion twice showers , with Jewelry I have gold & white gold for summer Italians are concious of their fashion some ..
Oh, so pleased to find and subscribe to this channel. Finally, we older ladies get some attention here (not found on other fashion channels!). I enjoy all the tips you mention and having been in Italy often over the years, I can attest that they are accurate perceptions and very helpful. I still have a TODS tote bag (now 22 years old and in mint condition); it is in a taupe color and I just love it. Hopefully, TODS is still "quiet luxury" today - if not, I still love the Italian leather quality of those bags and of course, the shoes. In fact, a video on shoes for older women and accessories such as jewelry may be helpful as well, for those of us not up-to-date on perhaps the latest European fashions for those of us who like the "quiet elegance". Thank you for posting this episode. I look forward to more videos and will definitely start watching all of your past videos as well.
I am American who was raised in Europe by an Italian mother & Croatian father. I was living in Paris @ 2 years old. Moved to Germany when I was 9years old. So I think I have a good idea about the two styles.
At 88 trs old I try to follow the Italian classic way of dressing daily. Quality fabric that fits perfectly. An a cessory that pops and minimal makeup.

I love covering our joints: elbows and knees. I learned to wear three-quarter length sleeves and my skirts cover my knees. Loved your point about tailored trousers. beautiful and elegant.
French and Italian women have a little different style. At sweet sixteen with 66 years of experience I guess my Italian DNA inherited from my father explains my style. I take tips from both French and Italian women. Simplicity is the key. Though there are times I break out the more creative side of my personality. Everyday is a special day so celebrate it I always leave the house dressed up. I do it for me, however I do attract a lot of attention. I live in a beach community environment that includes a variety of immigrant too from many countries, therefore my polished style does get attention. I've been this way with my fashion style since a teenager. I stood out there too in a rural town of 1,500 people. It's my Brand and I love my sense of fashion. Young men even pursue me at 82 years young. I've been compartmentalized byy men of all ages, women, too, as "hot" at 82 It's a curse and a blessing.❤❤❤❤❤
I have heritage from Sicily, so I am an Italian woman. I have been to Positano, Italy, and I wear dresses always. I wear natural makeup, get my hair done weekly, and adore silk blouses and tailored clothing. I have a signature scent, Shalimar, which I have worn since I was sixteen, and I have several special pieces that I inherited that I use with my outfits. I also have many cashmere ponchos in neutral colors. I wear alpaca capes and have two special Irish coats for winter. I have yet to find the perfect raincoat--still looking.
What I have noticed is that almost every "mature" Italian woman's hair is blonde, gray or light brown. But mostly blonde. Apparently blond hair makes them look younger.
God makes our hair lighter as we age and for most of us, blonde - or gentle grey - follows that example. The worst possible thing to add harshness to an older face is dark brown or black hair!

During the height of career owned satin long sleeve blue and beige shirts, and Ralph Lauren pants, the best fit ever and RL microfiber burnt orange short sleeve body fitting shirt and a DKNY chemise again microfiber with cap sleeve ! Unfortunately my maid then ruined with ironing but managed to retrieve and still wear ! ( late 90’s ) Shoes platforms with reptile skin straps ! Haven’t been able to locate that kind of styles since then! Have enjoyed the dress down which became a fashion unless dress up for an Occassion! Loved fashion and was my and still the industry as toying with my own brand name! 😊
the first time I went to Italy - the first thing I noticed as a teenaged girl was how FABULOUS the older women looked! No American women were put together like these sexy, vibrant Italian women in their 50's and 60's. Their CONFIDENCE was their greatest asset of all! But the one thing I disagree with the video about is - to this day - they do NOT wear light "natural" makeup - they always accent their eyes and are SO good with their own makeup. it is a very glamorous look ( but never overdone or too much ) Very "Sophia Loren "- who always wore black eyeliner and had a smoky sultry eye. I never see too bright colors on these lovely women ( or too bland) they know their faces and how to bring out their best features - usually their eyes and lips. And they really know how to accessorize! big, beautiful, rich-looking classic pieces. Just STUNNING!
Love the video. I am an Italian American and love clothes. However, it is very difficult to find good clothing in this country. For the over 50 crowd, online shopping doesn't work well with the bodily changes that occur in this age group. And if you are only 5'3'' forget it. These suggestions are great, however!

This is about grooming and style. I guess you are German ? I am. Many Germans lack interest in style, don't know how to dress well, some are even quite "sloppy. " Inner values" are what counts - that has been in their genes for a long time. Not a country for beauty loving people...
Dressing up impoves your mood, elevates your self respect... that does not mean not dressing comfortable. Comfortable clothes can be stilish too. And do not forget that the shoes make or break yout attire!
