Thank you for your videos. You actually go in depth about why a certain monitor would be best for a certain system, instead of just throwing out a list of what are the “supposed” best monitors out there.
At 4:18 where you talk about G-Sync compatible. Yes AMD cards are compatible. For reference, "G-Sync compatible" IS Freesync. As is VESA VRR. There might be some mild differences/customizations between Freesync Premium and VRR, but for the most part they're all the same. I do not however know what makes VESA VRR in the HDMI 2.1 spec different from Freesync Premium to the point where the PS5 won't enable it. It "should" just work the same. Especially since it was AMD who first introduced Freesync to the VESA standard in the first place. G-Sync used to require a module for any usage (unless you were on a laptop in which case Nvidia just used Freesync and called it G-Sync anyway). But due to Nvidia's G-Sync module costing about $200, where FreeSync was "free", Nvidia wasn't gaining enough adoption due to the cost that added to monitors. And because of the laptop situation, everyone knew Nvidia cards were more than capable of using Freesync anyway, but Nvidia was just arbitrarily blocking it because they wanted to force Nvidia GFX card owners to buy G-Sync specific monitors that had the $200 G-Sync module. Eventually, there was a combination of enough consumer and industry pushback and lack of adoption that Nvidia finally unlocked their cards to use Freesync, calling it "G-Sync Compatible". So if you see a monitor that claims "G-Sync Compatible". That' means it's a Freesync monitor. Not a G-Sync monitor. A lot of companies just call it "G-Sync Compatible" for marketing purposes despite the confusion it causes. At absolute most, "G-Sync Compatible" simply means a Freesync monitor that has been tested by Nvidia to work with Nvidia graphics cards without issue. Nothing more. There are some first gen Freesync monitors that won't be considered "G-Sync Compatible", but basically any monitor using "Freesync 2"(later rebranded to "Freesync Premium") or better are all basically automatically called "G-Sync Compatible". Mainly because 1st gen Freesync didn't support LFC (Low Framerate Compensation). Which was added for the Freesync 2 standard. The G-Sync module does still exist though. But it's only in monitors that are marketed under the "G-Sync Ultimate" branding. And as you might guess, it still adds about $200 to the cost of the monitor. It's so identifiable, it has been seen many times where you'll see two monitors release, where the only two differences between them are the G-Sync module and the price. One recent notable example is the Dell AW3423DW and AW3423DWF. Monitors are mostly the same hardware wise. The big difference. The DW has G-Sync Ultimate (using the module) and the DWF uses Freesync Premium Pro. And as can also be guessed. The DW was $200 more expensive than the DWF is now. One surprising change. The DWF also has user upgradable firmware and the DW does not. Turns out, as confirmed by Dell, the reason the DW doesn't have user upgradable firmware is because the Nvidia G-Sync module makes that impossible, because it requires a special tool. Dell now no longer sells the DW. You can pretty much see why. In short, if a monitor says "G-Sync Compatible", that means it's Freesync (Freesync Premium or better), not G-Sync. So yes, AMD cards will work just fine.
I'm looking at them in Amazon for like $150.oo an less ! Getting QHD at that price as well at 185 Hertz 1080p 27 an 24 at 1 ms an up. Curved. You going to make sure that there's a difference because you want it faster if you're playing multiplayer at least 120 or higher Hertz.. For one player you can play it at 4K 60 hz.
If you're asking why HDMI 2.0 and not HDMI 2.1 which the Xbox Series X and S support, it is because there is no HDMI 2.1 to DisplayPort active adapter currently available on the market. Guys we can’t get 120fps on old gen because basically the 2.0 cap at 60hz
I was on ps4 pro Xbox one X then series X, I'm not gonna lie it's pretty difficult to find a good monitor for your 4K consoles. By far my best option stays my 27" LG UK600 it has the best picture and colours fidelity ( looking normal) that i could find since 2018 but you gonna stay in 4K 60FPS and freesync ( which is all i need) IPS panel. For comfort on a larger panel with HDMI 2.1 (ALLM,VRR, 120 FPS) i bought a gigabyte M32U which is not bad at all but strangely doesnt meet my expectations in terms of colours accuracy brighntess black etc... Best options by far is a TV ! From the lowest price but best quality i had a Samsung Q60R (43" has no VRR, i suggest a 49"). Be wary that some models are almost impossible to find ( not produced anymore) and new tv's are time to time really wrong for what they pretend to be and their prices ( very bad experience with a Samsung QN90C worst crap ever) So im not sure for 120FPS ( anyway there are very few on consoles) but i think by far at the end the best tv's are LG''s OLED 42" C2 or C3 for your series X or PS5
Hey bro, do you think this is the way to go? Given where we are in the life cycle of these consoles? I can’t choose whether to go xbx s and a 1440p monitor or xbx x with 4K. ( hesitant because next gen consoles debut 2028- so in 4 years. ) .
@@michaelcrosswell1876 No just buy a 4k UHD TV buddy. They're not even expensive compared to a monitor! Easier to pickup 2nd hand, But you won't get one say smaller than 40 inch but they're cheaper to buy when compared. Granted if you want to do competitive gaming''' 24 inch Monitor. Otherwise monitors are overpriced because they're less popular among people buying. That is why TV's are way cheaper..
I thinking the gp850-b but it's getting old now there must be something g better for ps5. I was looking at getting a 4k 144hz monitor but with the news that some future games on console will be capped at 60fps I don't see the point in getting one now
I’m looking for a large 16:9 ratio curved 1440p 120hz minimum monitor for a sim racing rig. I want it to be around 40”. It will be used with ps5. what are a few models you would recommend? The Acer Nitro XZ396QU Pwmiipphx 38.5" 3000R Curved VA WQHD 2560×1440 Gaming Monitor is the only one I can find. Would a TV be a better option for what I’m looking for?
Hey, I quite honestly don’t know shit about monitors. I’m in the process of buying my first monitor, after watching your videos I’m thinking about getting the AUS TUF Gaming 27”.. I have a question what is a G-Sync? Do I need to get a card for the monitor?
Hello, i checked like 4 of your videos regarding what to actually buy for a PS5. I have a OLED TV and i want to switch the PS5 to a monitor and I'm not sure what to actually buy. I don't know if i can find a 32 inch display with HDMI 2.0 that will allow me to play at 1440 p 120 hz. is this even possible on the ps5? or do i strictly need a hdmi 2.1 compatible montior? Is it worth going for 32' instead of lets say 27? If you can answer it would be great and also some recommendations are much appreciated. Thanks!
I’m pretty sure you do need HDMI 2.1 I am looking into buying the Samsung G7 28 inch it’s on sale right now for 500 It’s usually 799 and it would work with everything you need.
Do you think that the AOC CU34G2X/BK is a good choice? Bc I think that the price is a bit too good to be true for such a good an especially big monitor
@@VertitexXOfficial hey i have a question is this screen Good for pubg ? AOC Gaming CQ27G2U - 27 Zoll QHD Curved Monitor, 144 Hz, 1ms, FreeSync Premium (2560x1440
i have the same question. Like if i get a monitor that has fresync but doesnt support 2.1 is there gonna be more screen tearing etc bc we dont get that VRR?
If the monitor does not have a display port of 1.4, is there any benefit in having a refresh rate of more than 144 hz? For example some monitors are 165 to 180 hz and also feature hdr10 which is unable to run 1.2 displayport. So where is the benefit?
Does the LG monitor you talk about @ 4:39 come with HDMI 2.1? My son is getting a monitor for his PS5/Xbox series X and I think you need a monitor with HDMI 2.1. Thank you & God bless
In 1440p resolution the 2.0 HDMI can achieve 120hz but the fps you get depend from how many fps the game gives. But in 4K resolution you need 2.1 HDMI for 120hz
Am i heard right? Freesync is useless without hdmi 2.1 port for my PS5? So i'll buy a good cheap QHD from Asus (VG27AQ). for gaming and productivity use.
I’ve recently got myself a aoc cu34g2x/bk monitor for ps5 gaming. Although i did everything possible (correct hdmi cable, settings etc.) i’m only getting 60fps on r6 siege or fortnite. Can somebody help me what the problem may be?
I have 300 dollars and a Xbox series x. I usually play fortnite madden mlb the show and warzone and siege. What is the best monitor i can get. Not really looking for 4k and I want a 27 inch pls comment great monitors I would love and appreciate all the help. And can someone explain to me what most of this stuff means like I don’t even know what refresh time is
I am looking for one as well, I have chosen the AOC CU34G2X/BK and I have watched some videos on it so I think, that it will work fine (can’t say 100% thou)
You just need an hdmi cable. You also need that for litterly every single tv that you're gonna connect with your ps5 and xbox series x so an hdmi cable is not some monitor exclusive thing lol😂
I have a ps5, Xbox series s, and a laptop with an rtx 3060 anyone have recommendations for a monitor for all of them? Preferably one with g sync and I don’t care abt hdmi 2.1
Does monitor latency ADD to server latency (in-game ping) or is it absorbed by higher latency in game? Like if I’m connected to a game at 13 ms ping, does mo it ir latency add to that?
Hi. Ihave 1 question, Monitor MSI Optix MPG321QRF-QD 32" 2560x1440px have a 175hz, but dont have a HDMI 2.1. Will i have a 120hz when i connect PS5? Thank you.
When it comes to Xbox, the only reason you would want an HDMI 2.1 monitor is if you are wanting to play games at a 4K resolution AND get more than 60fps at the same time. If you are someone who is fine with a 1440p picture at 120fps, then honestly any monitor that has AMD FreeSync will be great for you!
You will see 1440p 120 fps, but only if you have a monitor and cable that supports atleast hdmi 2.0. Ngl hdmi 2.0 is really common so there's a big chance you're good to go😅
Hello guys, I've got Sades M60 which is 165HZ and HDMI 2.1 and I'm using the PS5 cable which is also 2.1; however it's still saying your tv doesn't support vrr!!
I've not heard of that model before but when doing some searching I seem to be seeing conflicting info as to whether the HDMI port is 2.1 or 2. Is it possible the monitor does not actually have a 2.1 port?
@@TechAuditTV I’ve done some searching as well and it seems that there is no law preventing companies from using 2.1 marketing for a 2.0 monitors; kinda like the usb naming ,confusing and a lot of specifications. If this is not a fraud I don’t know what is! I bought this monitor specifically for the 2.1 hdmi.
I'm looking at the ASUS TUF Gaming monitors. I want a 1440p 120hz IPS monitor for around £300 that will be good enough for the PS5, but compatible with the PS4 for now. I have the standard PS4 currently but upgrading to the PS5 in the next 6 months. I need help please! 😂
wait but if we have a 1440p monitor that only supports 2.0. wont it only run 1440p at 60hz on PS5 bc its not getting that VRR support that only comes when you use a monitor that supports hdmi 2.1? Or does freesync or gsync allow it not to screen tear and does the same thing as VRR@@hasssooo5469
@@TechAuditTV there was no follow up, u made one 4 weeks ago, super good by the way, the video is called can vpns get u bot lobbies: lets find out, thats the only one ive seen and theres no follow up, u said u werent giving up on it cuz u did get a bot lobby but nothing was made after that.
Hey, what’s up people I figured I would come here for help. I got this new monitor that should be perfect for me although it’s a 144hz monitor I can only run it at 60hz on my ps5. I don’t know if it has something to do with the display port cable only working on pc. I’ve tried a lot of different things and none seems to work. I would love to game at 1440p 120hz but it’s looking like I’m going to go for 1080p 120hz if I can’t figure out why this is happening since I don’t want to get another monitor in hopes of running 1440p 120hz but only to have the same problem
Just my personal opinion. Resolution I overrated. Mostly it's at least 60 fps HDR and may be OLED might be better looking than a 4k. If you can have all that would be great !!
You mentioned PS5 doesn't support freesync so should I care if the monitor have freesync or g-sync for VRR or just HDMI2.1 will do it? because I'm tired been searching for monitors with good price and have both Gsync and freesync even for future for PS5

Yes 100hz will work with any hdmi connection whether it is hdmi 1.4, 2.0 or 2.1. Hdmi 1.4 does 1080p 144hz and both hdmi 2.0 and 2.1 do 1080p 240hz max
