I watched every single minute of that build series with my mom, I was her caretaker and she was dying slowly from Parkinson’s over a series of 10 years. I loved watching automotive content with my mom as a kid because it made me feel smart, it was one of the few things I knew more about than the adults even as a kid. So it took me back watching that series with her,she must have asked me a million questions about eve y single aspect of it…she was stuck around the house 24/7 in pain so any distraction was always welcome. I had planned on doing a 1964.5 Mustang build for her but that plan was shot once she lost the ability to drive. Anyway…if you never sell me that bike I will build one just like it just because it became the epitome of SM builds for me and it reminds me of watching the build with my mom. I’d really rather buy it though because I feel like I barely have time to ride let alone start a build.
Sorry to hear. I went through the same thing with my late grandma but she had severe dementia. That was tough so I known how you feel. I don't know that I will ever sell the bike but if I do I'll keep you in mind. Thanks for reaching out.
@@CycleCruza dementia is miserable, my mom had Parkinson’s induced psychosis (why Robin Williams chose the way out that he did) which is basically a combination of paranoid delusions and psychosis, not quite the same as dementia…but seeing someone’s brain betray them in any manner is hard to watch. My great grandma Alzheimer’s and I tell you what Parkinson’s & paranoid delusions etc makes Alzheimer’s look like a blessing in comparison. At least with Alzheimer’s they’re mostly at peace…and even when they aren’t they’re just confused as apposed to spending huge periods of time thinking there’s people after you and having it consume you, even those closest to her she would think were after her or plotting against her somehow, it was hard to watch. It tested everyone’s patience, taught me a whole different level of struggle & being grateful for just being ok. the moments of clarity were the the only silver lining…the human brain is amazing, but also scary af sometimes
I bought a jump pack that’s a unique design just for emergencies. It doesn’t NEED need to be recharged. It uses a super capacitor, so even if your battery is pretty dead you connect it and it rapidly drains the battery into the super capacitor, which lets you start your car because capacitors are designed to release all their stored electricity INSTANTLY, so basically it lets your car kick over fast by charging it with your dead battery, which is just such a cool concept I had to buy it.
The older I get I have started to appreciate the stock bike or car without aftermarket parts just the experience that they have stock and keeping it stock for its life now I’m old I use to want everything aftermarket and sometimes it makes it better so I understand it’s just having a factory stock vehicle
Thank you for all your suggestions! Still thinking about going electric for 2 reasons: 1) here in EU cops and neighbors are not so tolerant as in US. So you want to fly under the radar and make no noise. 2) going to YZ or KTM EXC i am so afraid of that high maintenance efforts. On electric you drive and drive and drive. Maybe do the first gear oilchange once after 400mls and nezt after 5000. And after 5 years buy a new battery. Stark varg and zero FXE or FXS are also much lighter and more powerfull than KTM Freeride (which is damn cheap used here in EU = $5000-$6000)
I’m jealous of the weather up there man. This was a record breaking hot summer in New Orleans. We had damn near 2 months straight of 110-120° F Heat index, humid heat is miserable. 100° with high humidity is worse than 120 degrees in a desert, your body’s ability to cool itself by sweating literally can’t work in humid settings because the air is already saturated with moisture so your sweat doesn’t condense into the air and that is what’s supposed to cool you. We don’t get 4 seasons here. We are about to go from around 100° heat index to a cold front with lows in the 50’s. Literally overnight just summer to what we consider winter 😂😑😑😑 I’m over it. Riding season for me STARTS when most people start “winterizing” their bikes. I need to find a place that doesn’t get hotter than 80 and isn’t so humid so I can ride year round.
Dang! We have been very lucky that we did not get that heat wave. I only put the A/C on two days the entire summer. We've been in the 70's with no humidity all summer long. I can't stand hot humid weather, one of the reasons I sold that GA property. Summers are brutal down South. However, when our winter starts your nice weather begins so enjoy the coming great weather.
@@CycleCruza I’ve been spending hundreds per month every month since late April on A/C. It’s “only” ~ $340 after I spent $5k to replace the unit, before that it was costing $500 a month. Literally runs 24/7. I could handle it as a kid but every year that passes a tolerate the heat less well. In the winter you can always bundle up more…in summer you’re screwed it’s not like you can get naked, and even if you could it wouldn’t help 😑
What are the tire sizes you used on the build? Is the rear tire a bias ply or a radial? I’m doing a Honda Crf450r supermoto build myself and I love the look of the Shinko 705 tires!
KTM had it right with their first SMs.... the 625 and 640 LC4 SMs and Dukes were 55hp stock, under 300lbs with rock solid reliability and practical maintenance intervals like real street bikes. They should bring that formula back. I have owned a bunch of modern 450 MX bikes.... they are awesome but the drawbacks are the maintenance and no matter how reliable yours has been.... they all aren't and you just have to understand that a 450 is a grenade with the pin pulled from the first time you start it. It will blow up and its going to be expensive to fix.... keep enjoying your WR. As a 20+yr DS and SM rider/owner I enjoy your videos.
KTM 525 exc do I need to say anymore lol all the KTM rfs range are very reliable bikes and high performance without the high maintenance as the Motocross versions. I have a 525 as a supermoto, sportbike killer in the tight Twisties and I'm not biased as I've got a gsxr 1000 so know what both bikes can do
Love the build man In Vietnam, dirt bikes/motocross bikes are so goddamn expensive I can't even find a decent KLX250 under $4500, an used 690SMC is around $13K. So I stick with a Ninja400 😂😂
Really want to do a supermoto build, but at the moment I'm working on rebuilding a Triumph Bonneville. Though when I can I'll definitely go with the new YZ450FX.
My problem is when I buy a bike and add my own twist to the bike to suit my riding style, I've found it hard to let go. That's how I ended up with three bikes. I can't let anyone else have it 😂
8:33” Cruza, you CANT SELL IT IN FLORIDA😩😢. They don’t honor titles from other states if the factory certificate said only off road. We are so pissed for that. I already missed couple of XR650R just for that reason!
I'm in Alabama and they don't have smog checks, I'd want a super moto build that's free of electronics to be emp resistant except for the dot approved lighting street kit and battery.
Are you new to motorcycles? First supermoto? If you ar elooking fro a first supermoto, I would recommend you get a Kawasaki KLX300sm, it is already to go. The only supermoto build I would do is on a 450cc dirt bike, the best to build on is the 2019-2024 YZ450FX because of the reasons I said in the video.
Bro the 690 heavier like I said before but a 450 does not compete in any way. The 690 n701 are way more powerful they handle better better suspension better electronics and way more reliable
