16 years have I been training, doing high volume. I've trained 6 days a week, doing split workouts. I've switched over to full body workouts, 3 days a week. No major results. I was on a standstill. Only recently did I discover what the issue was. I was doing my workouts in the classic 8-10 reps of 3 sets. I decided to try HIT, resting 3-4 days before hitting the gym again. I was thinking I had nothing to lose. And the results have been staggering. At age 34, I am in the best shape of my life.

@@KuostA Day 1 -Pull ups -Dips -Barbell shoulder press -Bent over row -Cable flies -Cable rows -EZ-Bar curls, super-set with skull-crushers -Sled push Day 2 (After three days of rest) -Deadlift -Back squats -Benchpress -T-Bar row -Arnold shoulder presses -Dumbbell shrugs -Hammer curls -Dumbbell pullover -Sledgehammer on tire for five minutes When I workout, I make sure to use a weight I can do for 15 reps, tops. And if I can do more than that, I go the extra mile and add more reps. Then next week, I had a little more weight so I can hit that 15 rep mark. And I have very little rest in between each workout. For context on the sled push. Not only is that one of the best leg workouts ever. It's an excellent upper body workout as well. I push a certain weight on a runway that's about 65 ft(20m) for 15 laps. It is an excellent cardio workout that really pushes your limits. As for the sledgehammer, I have always loved this workout. I'm Scandinavian. So using a hammer as a workout just feels so right to me. It is the perfect workout to really maximize all my efforts to finish things of. Five minutes is enough, given how exhausted I am after everything else. Now you may think working out only two days a week is too little. For some, maybe. But it works for me. Especially since I work a physically taxing job as a stone layer. While most people work indoors, I'm out working under the sun, hauling rocks, stones and dirt, for eight hours a day. I don't really need more than two days a week in the gym.

I think people might think recovery and growth are one in the same. If I understand it correctly they are two separate phases requiring there own time frames. So 3-4 days for one and another 3-4 for another. So a full week for the entire process to take place.
