Thanks for clarifying that Peter - good to know more details. Do you know how the Halstead Residents Association started and how did it get known locally enough for people to switch away from the main political parties?

​@@CCCwatch The Association was formed in 1937 as a non party political and non sectarian group with the object of promoting an interest in municipal affairs especially with regard to matters affecting rates. The name of the Association when formed was Halstead Ratepayers' Association (1937). The Association has, since 1937, provided advice and assistance to residents of Halstead and has also promoted the election of councillors to the Halstead Urban District Council which eventually became the Halstead Town Council. We also have representation on the Braintree District Council. In 1990, the Association adopted the name Halstead Residents ’ Association. So the HRA has had a presence in the town for decades and is well known, hence our domination of the council. However, I see the current challenge is to get the support of the (literally) thousands of new residents who have moved here due to the uncontrolled building of new housing estates on the edge of the town.

Yes, we'd need to tighten up on the wording of that one, for sure! But also we've got the 2nd & 3rd core values to help... For example, some would argue that 5G is for the public good with increased speeds etc but then when you run it through value 2 and look at both sides of the argument and make evidence-based decisions - there's enough compelling evidence now to show the precautionary principle should be applied with 5G - so with the right core principles in place, that would help cut down the 'in the public good' that isn't...

Most people do as they're told due to personal debt. Financial Emotional Spiritual It could be argued that the cost of living crisis was purposely created for what lies ahead. It impacts everyone, to a degree. 30 good people, who live in the private, and are not bound by the public could be very effective. 12 Regional Mayors, will be there to enforce these debts. Just look at London.👍
