2023 ARRL Volunteers On the Air Contest
Work the World
Represent Hawaii and the ARRL.
Operate as W1AW/KH6
February 7, 1400 HST to February 14, 1400 HST
December 5, 1400 HST to December 12, 1400 HST*
*The second week is to be scheduled later in the year. NOT NOW.
You do not have to be a member of the ARRL to operate but must have a valid license for KH6 for the band /mode and frequency you operate. All applicable FCC rules apply.
We encourage people to consider joining the ARRL to show support for their efforts to encourage operation on the air. Our band allocations are valuable. Use them or we’ll lose them.
Coordinators:
There are 3 major modes for which you may sign up. Each mode is handled by a separate coordinator. Contact the respective coordinator to sign up for that mode.
Emails can be found on www.QRZ.com
CW - Lloyd Cabral, KH6LC
Data - Michael Miller, KH6ML
Phone - Kimo Chun, KH7U
Emails can be found on www.QRZ.com
We hope that people will use RTTY and other data modes, not just FT8 but it is up to you. If demand is high (i.e., “pileups”) you may need to learn and use the “Fox and Hound” - mode of FT8. Those who can run higher power should consider RTTY as that mode benefits from the added signal strength.
PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING LINKED SITES, FIRST, BEFORE APPLYING FOR OPERATING TIME. IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS THAT ARE NOT ANSWERED THERE YOU MAY ASK THE COORDINATOR IF IT IS RELATED TO THE MODE SCHEDULE. OTHERWISE, DIRECT YOUR QUESTION TO ANY LINK OFFERED BY THE ARRL, OR LASTLY, JOE SPERONI, AH0A, SECTION MANAGER.
