But he failed to impress me coz in county cricket as a batsman when I faced his bowling I didn't find anything special on him... his extra pace n swing didn't touble me a bit to play my shots
No. It was unfortunate when he got that injury which stopped his huge jump onto the bowling crease. He was never the same bowler after that. Lost lots of pace and aggression.
His injuries coupled with politics from Waseem shortened his career big time. 2 years from his career got subtracted because of politics by Waseem Akram. The 2 Ws had never been buddies ; they were Foes . Even in a World Cup tournament under Waseem Akram’s captaincy Waqar was benched the entire tournament . This is on record that Pakistan team was divided as Waseem Group and Waqar Group . Anyways, undoubtedly Waqar would have got more wickets than Murali ( highest wicket taker ) if he was allowed a fair chance.
Lucky to have seen his bowling for Pakistan. During 90s, he was a real threat for opponents in cricket. Remarkable accuracy with shear pace and dual swing. 👏
What I liked about this man is the details in techniques that he went, on new ball (out/in swing) and old ball (reverse swing). The interesting fact that he told was his arm coming down at an angle. The most important thing was the ball remain more in air and because of that it gave that deadly reverse swing. Guys there if you cannot afford a bowling coach please watch this video 1000 times and practice every step that he has mentioned. This can be your shortest way to success, this is priceless tutorial from Waqar. may peace be with you Waqar
The two W's were very ferocious and dangerous at their peak. They were dangerous and feared bowlers at their peak. They were the masters of swing, pace and accuracy not to mention those fierce toe crushing yorkers!
I personally feel the ability of Pakistani players was inversely proportional to the quality of camera As the quality of cameras got better their ability to reverse swing also decreased This might also be the reason of his early retirement 🤣🤣🤣

Great fast bowler had shown his class by bowling the ferocious & lethal swinging deliveries, what a spectaclur display of fast bowling simply top class.
those throwbacks,,,,, what swing... seriously hardly 1% of swing todays bowlers gain...... what a bowler. very fortunate to witness him, wasim, ambrose, walsh, mcgrath, pollock, lee, McDermott, rose, zaheer, vaas..
Love from indie Now days there are very rare bowlers a Who are lethal In his waqars gen every one was legend And among those waqar was one of the best. For me waqar and wasim and vaas and maccgrath was more impactful than any other
feeling super lucky to have seen Wiki bowling at his peak, the Ws were a treat to watch, crafty both way swing from wazeeeeem and lethal damaging pace from Wiki.
I always think Waqar is way dangerous bowler than Wasim Akram though Wasim was more skillful..No offence to him.. Love both of them from we Indians 🇮🇳..
both are equally deadly but wasim gets the edge due to more variety and being a left armer. while waqar could be lined up if the ball did not swing as he bowled more fuller most of the time unlike akram who changed line, length etc all the time.
There was a time when he was struck 5 boundaries by Herchelle Gibs but the 6th delivery an inswinging yorker coming at 150.3 hit the wicket only to throw it out of the ground along with that camera wire coming out in style
I believe Waqar didnt got as much opportunities as Wasim A...if he would have been given that would made more record than Wasim A..Sultan of Swing❤️...W&W
waqar had major back injuries due to his bowling action: very side-on and long run up unlike wasim. waqar got same opportunities as he debuted at 19 but he was injured a lot. both are masters at their craft.
Very articulate. Love it when good cricketers generously share their secrets, warts and all. They really encourage all up and coming cricketers (and some old hacks) and make them feel like they too can do it 👍🏽. Waqar, Warne and Murali.
bowling has more skill and technical intricacies to it. it involves focus and sheer skill as compared to batting. it's sad to see nowadays every advantage bowlers could have over the batsmen has been taken away.
politics put paid to his career .... should have played at least 110 test matches but there you go ... pakistan cricket is as it is ... messed up and political at times..
