OMG War was one of those bands that every lowrider in my neighborhood would blast out of their cars and in the park. This is a great album and a great band. So many great songs from them. "Summer" might be my favorite, but "The World Is a Ghetto", "Slippin' Into Darkness", "All Day Music", "Why Can't We Be Friends" are other favorites. I was like 5 yrs old singing "Cisco Kid was a friend of mine!"
Not brother on the bus. How are you sawing? And how are you sawing and flaw? It's talk all over the place, it's a sense turned inside out there's a war benefit.
"Cisco Kid" is a great song by WAR. Lots of funk and gritty vocals. Things that WAR excelled at. My favorite song by WAR is "Low Rider", lots of the same components, but in a different way, and a little more of the funk. You will probably recognize it when you hear it. It was EVERYWHERE for a while. Remember, it's "LOW RIDER".
Aw, you have taken me to my first apartment in 1973 where the most expensive thing in it was my stereo system and this record was on the turntable. The album is a banger!
Sorry I missed the live premiere Biz. War is a fantastic band that too many sleep on. This tune is a banger. Low Rider, Why Can't We Be Friends, The World is a Ghetto, Summer, Slippin into Darkness, All Day Music, Spill the Wine....all brilliant
The Cisco Kid is a fictional character found in numerous film, radio, television and comic book series based on the fictional Western character created by O. Henry in his 1907 short story "The Caballero's Way", His sidekick was Pancho. Originally a murderous criminal in O. Henry's story, the Kid was depicted as a heroic Mexican caballero later in films, radio and television adaptations.
@@nancywest1926 i did too ms west, i did too...until i didnt. ;)Eventually i figured out i could tape and put the vinyl back on the shelf to stay UN-played.
War is one of the best to me from back then ! No doubt ! ! ! Peanuts out the can !! If you don’t like this you don’t like music period ! Your right Biz it’s mixed perfect I like the percussion myself ! There was tv show Cisco kid ! I think !
Love this reaction! The rhythm started… then the head nodding.. then the body movement. Then the smile breaks out. And the stank face emerges … yes!! This was epic. We had some great music back in the day! You know, we didn’t care who sang it, black white Latino. All we cared about was a great rhythm that made you tap your toes and move your body.
There are a couple of albums with Eric Burden and War. After that, War continued on and played great music! Check out one of their later tunes: Peace Sign
People may wonder why I still cling to the music of my youth, instead of embracing many of the new artists currently killin' it. Hey, THIS kind of music is what helped me survive disco.
If you want something relaxing, you’ve got to check out All Day Music / Summer / Don’t Let No One Get You Down. Personally I’ve not seen any reactions to these songs by any other peeps.
Cisco and Pancho drank the whiskey and wine having a big time. That's what their music brings every time. Always funky, soulful, and unique. You can listen to War and not enjoy yourself.
Me thinks Eric Burdon only sang on the WAR song 'Spill the Wine.' Thrilled to see you react to WAR though, they've mastered the funk! I suggest Summer- music video is fun, All Day Music, and Slippin' Into Darkness. Enjoy!
This song is a classic...a true gem! Try "The World Is a Ghetto", "Slippin' Into Darkness", "All Day Music", "Why Can't We Be Friends" and "Summer". War also did the music for Cheech And Chongs first movie "Up In Smoke" which I Highly recommend:)
Dazed and Confused had a soundtrack just as good as the movie itself. Without it who knows when my 16yr old self would have been to exposed to it all. They damn sure don't play this stuff on the radio anymore.
Hi Biz, my wife met the band members of WAR 10 yrs ago at our local casino. We have become close friends with the band members. Since then we always get back stage passes. They are coming of Jazz Alley in Seattle next Weekend. They are giving us passes again. Great guys! Got lots of WAR memorabilia on the wall. Can’t wait till Saturday to see the guys again!
